The Government of Canada Building on 22nd Street East installed automatic sliding doors in 2010. I thought they were cool-looking, especially since there are steps up to the door themselves. To see what used to be here, click here.
Looking down the old exposed driveshaft line that would have powered a whole row of the hosiery knitters at one time, but most have been removed.
The wheels near the floor would drive exposed belts (dangerous) to power the machines. Nowadays each machine would probably have it's own motor.

16mm prime again. It is usable stopped down and the extra width is welcome in a shot like this. It does have good contrast, but the corners can be very soft, the whole border soft wide-open, and then there's the CA...
Hopefully the late model NEX-C3, NEX-5N, and the new NEX-7 address automatic CA correction when outputting JPG files.
I should note that I am quite taken with the NEX-3 and also bought a NEX-5 body for the IR remote capability and to shoot without changing lenses in dirty areas (16mm possible with fisheye on one camera, 18-55 kit on the other). These will be my new light-weight Urbex kit.

The automatic writing project started out as an activity among friends and locals. I would write a line someone else would write a line and so on... Then people would overhear us and ask if they could participate and write something too (which surprised me) of course I said "yes!" At that point I realized that lots of people have something to say. I started asking strangers to add entries, then I graduated to offering people $1.00 to participate, some people do not accept the dollar and some pay me a $1.00 (paying it forward). It's becoming quite a lovely, surprising and compelling project. People from many walks of life are participating: homeless, a news reporter, academics, doctors, drug addicts, lawyers, tourists etc... People have written things in my journal that they'd never say out loud, not to anyone. Some of it's so sad, some intriguing, hilarious and so on... At the end of the day, every one of these people understand that their entries are being uploaded to the internet and are comforted in knowing that they will be heard. I have no idea where this is going, but it's going just fine! FYI: English is not everyone's first language here. I will be illustrating the book/journal after the text is done. I hope that everyone who reads these entries learns something about people, mostly that we never know what someone else is going through.

i spent the day reviewing a presentation, and muttering my part of it whilst sitting on the balcony. it must've looked quite strange, but it sure was helpful to me.
i also tried out the polaroid automatic 230, filled with neat-o b&w polaroid 664 film. i can get used to b&w polaroid. the 230 needs some fixing, but it's just a minor caveat.

This railtrack scale is located at Kepa Zawadowska in Warsaw enroute to the EC Siekierki heat- and powerplant. It is built into the track and measures the weight of 4-axle cars, which bring coal to EC Siekierki. The speed at the scale must be reduced to 3 to 5 km/h max. to allow proper operation. The length of the measuring track is exactly to match the Eaos/Eas railcars' length.
I've been resurrecting some older mulit-shot panos lately thanks to Photoshop CS3. The new Photomerge script automatically fixes stitch marks between shots saving hours of work. I knew one day that technologies would save these shots!
Algonquin Park is one of Ontario best known Provincial Parks. With over 2000kms of canoes routes, it's an interior campers' dream. This shot was taken roughly 6 hours (by canoe) into the park. We managed to find a nice island to camp on for a period of three days. During that time it rained, snowed and did something in between. Algonquin was testing us to see if we had what it takes to survive an October on the Canadian Shield.
One evening in 2009, I went to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. This year, I returned to the city and dropped by the Real Canadian Wholesale Club that can be found on the edge of town. It appears that they now Gyro Tech doors, which replace doors from Horton Automatics that used to be here. Well... that's for the main entrance. Here, there appears to be an older Gyro Tech door, but its functionalities no longer exist. Notice the wood and the yellow stuff coming from the door? It's not going to move ever again.

Can't believe the amount of these I saw there... the auto transmission did catch on people when the 205 was for sale it seems. Haven't seen any in Spain though.

absolutely delighted to see this Classic big BMW in such great condition, wish all BMW owners looks after their cars like this owner does. Fabric interior (non leather) is in great condition. No good pictures of the front due to it being parked against a wall. The alloy wheels are not great though
