Being a manual photographer, I am currently trying out automatic modes by shooting from the hip. So far, the results are pretty mixed. One half of the images has to be discarded straight away because there is no kind of composition (the camera is directed towards an approximate target but often misses it). Regarding the other half, the object I am interested in is often not in sharp focus (the camera "decides" where to put the focus and frequently it is a region of strong contrast). I also noticed that my camera (Fuji X-E3) needs a bit of time to focus and was therefore not able to keep up with my more rapid decisions. Still, sometimes there is a good image emerging or, at least, what could have been a fine shot. Isn't it funny that one needs a lot of practice to do "fully automatic" photography?

That straight segment at the top is about 0.75 in.
I thought it was self-explanatory, but the single sheet of pink paper is being spit out by the machine, so the edge is blurred as it moves to the right and falls down.
