Stanier Black 5 no. 44871 comes away from Irwell Vale and approaches Lumb Woods with the 10.30 Rawtenstall to Heywood service on.the 6th March 2020, the first day of the ELR's Spring Steam Gala.
CN A490 crosses the Grand Calumet River as it slows down for the approach into Kirk Yard with a pair of vulnerable C40-8s for power. Both units would be sent south for storage the following day.

66023 on the approach to Swindon passing South Marston with 6C03 0955 Northolt Sidings to Severnside Sita binliner waste train. At least at this location the seemingly very over engineered catenary is not too much of an issue!
On the third and final day of the Hellismannaleið trail, we approach Landmannalaugar, an area famous for vibrant, multi-coloured hills. Landmannalaugar campsite is hidden behind the old lava flow in the distance.

We had a packed day at Bryce Canyon starting with a hike to the Queens's Garden, a short hike at Aqua Canyon? and then back to Bryce Canyon for sunset

The Boeing 777 did a 360° turn in a holding pattern at the Swiss & German border near Koblenz. The sun was breaking from under the clouds at 4pm. In the foreground you can see the Rhine river flowing down towards Basel on the far right. Bad Säckingen is at the big bend in the middle. This view is facing south-west towards central Switzerland. The Alps mountains run from left to right behind the ground fog, seen in the center of the picture.
I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, merged them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

The fourth installment of the great chase of 11/6 finds the train roaring towards Culver. I had time to check this location out and needed to decide between this shot and the one at the S-curve just a little further south. Since this only works when the sun is right and I have many more shots at the curve I decided to stay here. By this time the warming temps and dry air had all but eliminated any steam cloud from the pellets.
Approaching the medieval seaport of Amalfi, in the middle of the stretch of coast south of the bay of Naples to which this port has given its name.

I love to take pictures at stormy weather in such landscapes, everything is reduced to the essentials. The wildness of the scenery, constantly formed by the forces of nature, with myself right in the middle, overwhelmed by this impressions.

NS 9839 leads the second to last NS 255 westbound out of Sidney Illinois approaching the masses of people who were sitting here at County road 1900 to capture the meet with the last 256.
We took the first ferry that morning to visit an iconic American Lady. She was welcoming as usual.
