Typical of south Florida weather patterns, this sunny hot day can quickly turn into a rainy day as rain approaches in the distance. After the rain, the sun generally comes right back out - providing for a nice mix of steam, heat, & humidity!

At 1,042 m n.m., the Čerchov (German: Schwarzkopf) is the highest mountain in the Upper Palatine Forest (Český les) and the northern summit of the Bohemian Forest. It lies ca. 2 km from the German-Czech border, roughly in the middle of a triangle formed by the villages of Waldmünchen, Furth im Wald and Domažlice.
After its use by the Wehrmacht in the Second World War the summit was intensively used by the Warsaw Pact until the 1990s as a surveillance station and was placed out of bounds to the public. In addition to the observation tower erected in 1904 by Vilém Kurz and known as the Kurz Tower, a second, larger tower was built in 1987 by the Czechoslovak Army which is used today for flight safety purposes and is not accessible. Saturday afternoon produced some neat looking clouds as a storm approaches.
The last two weeks passed quickly since the release of MMV's TransMontana ( flic.kr/p/2oShMTV ). The weather was so stormy in those days when I visited the lake Balaton. This one hit with a heavy downpourshortly after its arrival, but before that it provided an amazing sight.

A Lehigh Railway turn from Sayre, PA approaches the town of Ulster. The tracks briefly veer away from the Susquehanna River as they near the town. A farmer's field provides a break from the seemingly endless row of trees that obscures the right of way, particularly along the river. This railroad does run through some very scenic territory.

Steam into History GP9 shoves the train into Seitzland where it will reverse direction and head back to New Freedom, Pa.
Following the trail up the back of the dune, we reached the first point where we could get a clear view of the stream and lake.

2335 approaches Blackwater working the twice weekly container service to Rockhampton from Longreach as 6391.
Once a month, this service extends onto Winton, as well as regularly stopping off at Barcaldine and Alpha to drop loading. This train operates loaded from Rockhampton to deliver supplies to various towns.

After a great hike up the valley Helgedalen we were approaching one of the glaciers in Hurrungane - the most alpine of the Norwegian mountain areas.
Metra 173, the 'Village of Lake Bluff', nears Jefferson Park station on the far northwest side of Chicago with a outbound weekend scoot.
Approaching Naxos by ferry is a thrilling experience that stirs a sense of adventure and wonder. As the island gradually emerges on the horizon, there's a palpable excitement in the air. The anticipation builds with each passing wave. Passengers traveling to further islands gather on the ferry's deck to capture the views and take selfies.

A great spot to watch the night approaching. Taken looking down the Rakaia River with the setting sun behind us briefly colouring the sky to the East as everything else around us darkened.
The camp ground at Rakaia Gorge is a great place to spend the night and later to watch the stars, and no-one would complain about this view. Enjoy.
