Actually, I wanted to photograph the foggy mood in the morning. An approaching thunderstorm changed the shooting conditions ... as is so often the case in landscape photography.

A great egret landing on a very windy day. The approach was nice, but the landing was awful. It didn't help that he tried landing on a branch at a 45 degree angle. Kane County, Illinois

The wind picks up and the sea gets whipped up more and more.
The shadows of the clouds rush by on the beach and the surf starts to roar.
It is always breathtaking to witness this natural spectacle and the storm will erupt within minutes....

This is the first time I have been out with the camera since I have been home from the hospital.
This view is not very far from where I live, so the gathering storm clouds gave me enough incentive to try to get out there and capture a picture.

A cute little hedgehog who I had the privilege of being able to photograph at the British Wildlife Centre last September
A landscape that is a little wilder than the previous image.This photo shows the relatively level plateau between Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass in Cumbria. It's the most direct rouse between Langdale and Eskdale. Although it is certainly spectacular it's one of the most difficult drives I have undertaken for a long time . Wrynose Pass is steep and winding but Hardknott is a devil of a road. If you look at the image large you can see the road quite well in the background on the darker part of the landscape.
The single track road shares the title of steepest road in England with Rosedale Chimney Bank in North Yorkshire. It has a maximum gradient of 1 in 3 (about 33%). The pass is described as one of the most challenging roads in Britain. A series of hairpin bends make visibility difficult in various places. Traffic ascending the pass has priority as advised by the Highway Code. It was very difficult at times getting in the correct gear and you were hoping you would not hit a sheep or have to reverse . The view from the top is amazing you can see across the Irish sea. However next time I go to Wast Water I will take the longer but somewhat easier route on the coast road

Always interesting to look beyond the horizon. I was thinking about it, watching this tree from the car. It took about an hour of walking in my snowshoes there and back. And it was worth it all the efforts. The same location with the previous upload.
