The westbound California Zephyr is running a little over two hours late as it approach its stop at Fraser. Weather in Nebraska delayed the train by a couple hours overnight, and it is now trying to make up the time here in the snowy high country.

A storm began to approach while I was photographing the famous yellow hut in Sakrisøy. The sun was behind me and I noticed the rainbow but there was no way I could get the rainbow and the yellow hut in the same picture. I ran around manically looking for a composition that worked and ended up with this.
A puffin on final approach to land on Skomer with it's load of sand eels for it's chicks. I know it isn't pin-sharp, but it was SO difficult to catch them properly in-flight, they are incredibly fast

A late running morning train gets up to track speed with 85 loads of black diamonds for Page AZ. This signal is one of two in Kayenta with the other being at a crossover at the load out. There are a couple signals spread out across the line that are well hidden as I found but was unable to get a shot of. The one in the mine does work and shows a clear signal when coming around the loop, however I was never able to verify if this one works.
Hardknott Pass is a pass that carries a minor road between Eskdale and the Duddon Valley in the county of Cumbria, England, in the Lake District National Park. The road approaching the pass vies with Rosedale Chimney Bank in North Yorkshire for the title of steepest road in England with both achieving a gradient of 1 in 3 (about 33%).

One from the archives from a holiday in Turkey three years ago. I previously posted a different version, but I like to think my processing techniques have at least changed, if not necessarily improved, in the interim.
WNYP 630 leads the Driftwood Turn South near Driftwood, PA, passing an old barn and field of flowering milkweed.
A break in the snowy conditions allowed me to capture this scene as another flurry approaches.

One of our Ruby-throated hummingbirds on final approach to the feeder yesterday afternoon. He's coming in right over a bee (Yellowjacket?) - they mostly ignore each other at the feeder.
I prefer the slower shutter speeds to show some motion in the hummingbird's wings, as opposed to stopping them completely, and with this one I like the fact that you can just see his body through the flying feathers.
