I love my sister's backyard. Several bird feeders, lots of trees a National Wildlife Federation certified Wildlife Habitat. But shooting Humming birds there is always a challenge due to the proximity of the feeder hanging from a corner overhang of the house. The usable shooting area is about foot of travel before lawn furniture, a house, or feeder enters the shot.

I cropped the feeder out of the shot.

A typical view of Rock Harbor from the trail to Daisy Farm. The spruce and fir are a common mix on the island.

When we visited this creek a few weeks ago, the water was in such a swift fury that getting near it was a little intimidating. As I knelt on the slick mossy rocks in the stream to get this shot, the force of the water kept inching me toward the falls and impending doom. Not one to deliberately flirt with death, I was relieved to step out onto firm ground once again!

20107 is on her final approach to Newport as she crosses tracks at Gaer Junction to line up for her Platform 1 arrival before entering Hillhead Tunnel.

The climb to the tunnel mouth is excentuated by the full zoom on my cameras lens.

She was working the 1Z31 1408 Carmarthen to Bristol East Depot deputising for Black 5 Sherwood Forrester.

It's a long approach to this nice summit (on the very right) by the valley of Gračenica. Here we are already on the upper slopes of that valley, approaching the Ferlacher Sattel / sedlo (saddle) Borovščica.

Thursday was a different day with scattered showers and thunderstorms roaming over north Iowa. Sadly, we really didn't get the rain we needed, because it went around us twice in 12 hours.

I got this shot which highlights the turning soybeans right before it clouded over to a dull view..

Visitors to Theodore Roosevelt Island in Washington DC's Potomac River approach the larger-than-life statue of the 26th U.S. President

Black bear approaching me , I never feed them but I do pray about it .Yes the Lord delivers answers to our prayers in his time and way . PS my dog started barking at it and it ran away , maybe a 250 pounder .

At the beginning of the year we went to the Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California. This beach is famous for the keyhole, a hole in a rock out on the ocean. The sun light shines right through the keyhole at sunset, but only in December and January when the sun is low. This reflection shot is facing the rocks located in the ocean.

I processed a realistic, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I’d been to this spot a number of times, but I’d never experienced conditions like this. Saying that I was excited for this to unfold would be a considerable understatement. As always, temperamental changing weather brought magic. This was the front end of a storm rolling in - the combination of still water, warm light breaking through the clouds, and haze/rain in the distance didn’t last long. After just a few minutes the wind picked up destroying the reflection - if you look close you can see the rain had already started when I captured this image.

Also, one of my favourite things about editing and reviewing images is finding the little details I missed when I was shooting. If you look close on the right hand side of the image you’ll see a fellow camper in awe of the scene unfolding as well. I had no idea he/she was in this scene when I shot it - I was too excited about the conditions! I still have no idea who this is, but I like to think it's someone I spoke to while camping there. Their body language really echoed how I was feeling in the moment frankly - just drop what you’re doing and get a look at this!
