After 23 hours trip from Donghae, South Korea, the ferry was reaching Vladivostok. Cloudy but I love the atmosphere of the harbor.
The shower that was threatening Bunmahon beach for awhile was now fast approaching, even though the sun was still shining brightly which only emphasised the darkness of the approaching rain.
I went outside to get setup for an attempt at astrophotography. Before the sun was fully down the clouds had moved in and the moon was lightin' it up.
This was all that ended up happening that night.

The river valley is wide to the north of Matlock and the going flat. Thus far it hadn't been the most inspiring of walks but sometimes you need these stretches to enjoy the special ones

Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Another opportunity to go trackside and capture this wonderful locomotive (Freshwater) pulling the Victorian set of coaches during the bank holiday steam gala.
A 1939 Frazer Nash BMW 328 sports car, LMF 435, approaches the start line at Prescott speed hill climb on 11th September 2021. Between 1936 and 1939 only 426 BMW 328s were made, of which fewer than 200 are believed to exist today.
I was immediately attracted to this shot as I don't recollect seeing a pair of Rats on a steel coil train - albeit in this case empties; oddly with a brake van on the rear. At a guess I assume they are returning to Tees Yard. Note the recently lifted up yard and a half loaded mgr.

on our hike from Vaour to Bruniquel we passed Penne. This looked so amazing that we decided not to pass Penne but walked a few miles more (as if we weren't walking enough) and visit this amazing city. Never have had the slightest regret of this.
Mind you, I have made this photo from another mountain on the same level as Penne, this means we had to go all the way down, and up again plus a roundwalk to be able to enter the city.

Heavy Haul Rail 70009 approaches Thurston, working 6Z80 05.23 Tunstead Sidings - Ipswich Griffin Wharf loaded aggregate.
This was the second East Anglia-bound aggregate train to leave Tunstead in just over ten minutes this morning, but was booked to reach Peterborough nearly half an hour behind the first and then, thanks to being booked to recess for half an hour or so at March, was just over an hour later here.
Believe it or not, this was the first time I'd attempted this shot with the correct sun angle, but when I got here I discovered you need to stand much more head-on than previously due to the lineside trees (including one which is not so visible, but its branches are close to "touching" the first few wagons).
I was extremely lucky with the lighting on this, as the scene was still in full dull when the loco appeared under Barton Bridge in the distance. As the train approached, the sun came out but then kept going in and out - and I was amazed to get such even lighting on the train! I was also lucky in that a resident of one of the houses had briefly popped out, and his white car was not parked in the shot (it had been there when I'd looked in here over an hour earlier, and it returned after lunch).
Of course, I heard the train long before I saw it; 70s are much louder than 66s.

Delaware & Lackawanna's four Century Alco six-axles, numbers 3007, 3642, 3000 and 3643, charge past the dam around the Elmhurst Reservoir as they approach Moscow, PA with the Pocono Turn.
Manor zoo park in Pembrokeshire has two red Pandas - Betty and Barney. They have been brought together in the hope they may mate - they certainly like each other!
I had been warned not to get too close to the Pandas so I didn't freak them out.
However, they were both so very interested in what I was doing, I have many blurry images of Red Panda noses as they approached too close for my camera to cope!
Barney (in this image) seemed to be a particular Pentax fan...!!
Mount Ruapehu, is the largest active volcano in New Zealand, it is the highest point on the North Island and has three major peaks.
The North Island's major ski resorts and only glaciers are on its slopes.
Reading & Northern 4-6-2 #425 thunders up the grade to the Hometown High Bridge on December 3, 2022 as she approaches Barnesville, PA on the former Reading Railroad mainline hauling the R&N's annual Santa Claus Special out of Tamaqua, PA.
Still in its previous owners livery, 59201 must be due a repaint soon so it was nice to capture this before its demise. The loco is seen approaching Woodborough loops with the 6Z60 11.33 Brentford to Merehead Quarry. 19/1/2023

There were activities taking place all over the park and it felt like summer has arrived early. California summer is a special time.

C’est la seule structure du Printemps Haussmann en béton armé.
Elle est unique dans le magasin et offre une grande légèreté grâce à la succession de miroirs le long des murs latéraux.
L'escalier flottant : Il se caractérise par l'absence de points d'appui visibles. Les rampes sont délimitées par des ferronneries aux motifs géométriques courant au centre de la cage.
La rambarde en forme de P : Cette caractéristique souligne l'attachement du Printemps à son identité et s'inscrit dans une approche moderne de la mise en valeur
With its spectacular curve and its typical structure of the 20s, this magnificent heritage staircase located at Printemps Haussmann that responds to the rational lines of Art Deco It was born in the middle of the Roaring Twenties, between 1922 and 1924 under the direction of the architect Georges Wybo It was erected 60 years after the creation of the Department Store following the fires of the New Printemps Haussmann Stores in 1921 After a meticulous restoration, following a closure of nearly 40 years, it returns to an honorary role at the Printemps Haussmann, It is the only structure of the Printemps Haussmann in reinforced concrete. It is unique in the store and offers great lightness thanks to the succession of mirrors along the side walls.
The floating staircase: It is characterized by the absence of visible support points. The ramps are delimited by metalwork with geometric patterns running through the centre of the cage.
The P-shaped railing: This feature underlines Printemps' attachment to its identity and is part of a modern approach to showcasing its heritage

Many people think of Alcatraz as America's most notorious prison, which it was for 30 years of its 150+ years as an inhabited island. Its Civil War-era buildings, cannons, and subterranean rooms give insight into the 19th century when the Island served as both a harbor defense fort and a military prison. Reminders of the American Indian Occupation, which began in 1969 and ended in 1971, remains etched on “The Rock”, recognizing an important milestone in the American Indian rights movement. It is also an nesting site for snowy egrets, black crowned night herons, Brandt cormorants, pigeon guillemots, and Western gulls.
We went on a beautiful May morning for a tour of the magnificent gardens.
I am having computer problems and will be on and off for a few days. I hope to catch up with everyone over the weekend.
