At the end of the Maderaner valley (from left): Bocktschingelgrat, Chammliberg (3215m), Claridenhorn (3120m), Hüfifirn and a small portion of the north flank of Gross Düssi (3256m) where you can see the steep foot path to the Hüfi hut.
The Maderanertal is a wild and steep Alpine valley of the canton of Uri in Central Switzerland. The upper end of the valley is glaciated, the largest glacier being the Hüfi Firn. The meltwater falls over the sheer rock cliffs into the Chärstelenbach, a largely untamed mountain stream.
The stage between Fuente Dé and Picu Urriellu (Naranjo de Bulnes) crosses the rugged heart of the central massif of the Picos de Europa, an imposing territory of the Cantabrian mountain range. The limestone relief, shaped over millions of years and resulting from the Alpine uplift, is marked by abrupt peaks, pointed ridges and deep valleys, creating a karst landscape of great beauty and challenge. This route, one of the most demanding in northern Spain, takes mountaineers through technical trails and mountain refuges, culminating at the base of the emblematic limestone monolith, a symbol of Spanish mountaineering. The presence of residual snow in the rocky fissures testifies to the altitude and rigor of the mountain climate, while the panoramic views over the ridges that exceed 2500 meters illustrate the grandeur of this crossing.

On the top of the Glarner Vorab (3018m), harsh winds often blow compressed snow around. It feels like hail when it hits your face. But sometimes the light is just right and I have to take the beating in order to get the shot.

Our wander had us having tea at the Emerald Lakes and timed it for the sunset. Pity there was no clouds. But never mind ...the ice cream with strawberries for desert after a stew for main meal was awesome. Amazing what you can get as a dehydrated meal nowadays...
If you look to the middle left you can see the worn trail from all the trampers doing the crossing as it disappears into the distance...
The serene waters of Riffelsee Lake in Zermatt, Switzerland, perfectly reflect the iconic Matterhorn peak and the surrounding snow-capped mountains. This picturesque landscape, with its lush alpine meadows and delicate wildflowers, offers a breathtaking glimpse into the natural beauty of the Swiss Alps.
Maderanertal, Uri: Where the Brunnibach cascades down the rocks to join the Chärstelenbach the waterfall produces a lot of spray and is called Stäuber.
I took this picture in the early afternoon towards the end of the 4 hours hike around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo. Great alpine landscape in the Eastern Dolomites in Northern Italy.

I love to watch the weather above and the play of light on Piz Aul. The mountain is of moderate hight (3121m) and is sandwiched between Vals and Vrin in the Canton of Graubünden/Grisons.
This view is from Falera, looking in SSW direction.

If a photographer can’t feel what he is looking at, then he is never going to get others to feel anything when they look at his pictures.
Beautiful view from panoramic hiking trail starting at Gotschnagrat Cable Car Station above Klosters and ending at the Höhenweg Station of Parsenn Funicular, which takes the hikers back to Davos. Located in the Canton of Graubünden/Grisons, Switzerland.

Les Drus (3791m) and Aiguille du Moine (3412m), taken somewhere between the Montenvers station and the ladders leading down to the Mer de Glace glacier.
Rifugio Auronzo is the starting point for the hike around Tre Cime di Lavaredo, which I did in September last year. Located in the Eastern Dolomites in Northern Italy, one of the most impressive regions in the Alps.

‘The wind howls, but the mountain remains still’ Japanese proverb Taking a moment to pause and soak up the view. There is a certain sense of peace in wild places which is hard to obtain elsewhere. Spent some time on the Iceline trail this past summer. Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada.
Standing atop the Roc de Querquéou, I was overwhelmed by this breathtaking panorama across the Ariège Pyrenees.
I wanted to capture the incredible diversity of this landscape - from the densely forested valleys to the golden grassland ridges, all under this dramatic sky that seemed to mirror the grandeur below. The way the light broke through the clouds, illuminating different peaks and ranges, created a constantly changing natural theater.
What struck me most was the sense of endless wilderness stretching in every direction. Unlike some of the more famous Pyrenean peaks, the Roc de Querquéou offers solitude and contemplation, allowing you to truly appreciate the scale and beauty of these ancient mountains.
My intention was to share this hidden gem of the Ariège Pyrenees and inspire others to discover these quieter corners of the mountain range, where the rewards are just as magnificent but the experience feels more intimate and personal.
Dozens of streams and rivulets meander through the high plateau called Plaun Segnas Sut (Lower Segnes Plain). The water constantly changes its ways, creating ever-changing patterns. The plain is about 1.7 km long, roughly 0.5 km wide, and it is at an altitude of 2100 m.
The upper (northern) half of the flood plain is covered by a moor, whereas the lower half is covered by stones, grass and mosses. At the southern end, the waters unite and flow down to Flims as the river Flem.
The hike up from Flims to the Plaun Segnas Sut takes about 4 hours and climbs 920 m. If you follow the river, you are rewarded with plenty of beautiful spots where the water cascades over high rocks or carved its way through them.
I took this picture shortly after having started my hiking tour around the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in September last year.
Starting point is the Rifugio Auronzo (Auronzohütte), which can be seen in the background. The Tre Cime di Lavaredo are to the right (not visible in the picture).
