continuing my series of pictures of immature fruit on my apple trees in June.

Keswick Codlin is an old apple, dating to the 1790s.

An early cooker that cooks to a pulp. Apple tart season can start a bit early if you have one of these trees. We are going to have a go at early cider this year using this apple, George Cave and crab apples.

I planted this tree as a maiden whip on MM106 in February 2004. It has done well for me although the size of the individual apples it produces has decreased in past 5 or so years.

We cleaned out our shed of a pile of old boxes, including these three Apple products; a 2000 iBook, 2002 iBook, and Airport Extreme base station. All of them are still working today.

Boxes will be in the recycling bin next week.

The apple harvest is in - these are Magna Bonum.

This fall apple is regarded as a good dessert apple. The fruit is juicy, tender, mildly subacidic, and aromatic. The variety was recorded in 1854.

These cake pops were ordered as Teacher Appreciation gifts for the staff at an Atlanta Pre-School.

Apple Cake Pops are both Red Velvet Cake and French Vanilla. The stem and leaf are Marshmallow Fondant.

Let's make things simple!

On recent Mac OS X, there are more than 20 OS-native apps in Applications folder. However, I don't use most of them explicitly. For example, I've never used "Image Capture.app" because I use iPhoto. A problem here is a user can't remove OS-native apps. So it would be more convenient if there is a way to hide such unused apps, and could keep Applications folder clean. Here is my solution...

1. Make a folder named "Apple" in your Applications folder.

2. Make alias of App you want to hide, and put it into 1.

3. Open Terminal.app, and % sudo chflags hidden /Applications/AppYouWantToHide.app

4. If you want to show the hidden App again, use "nohidden" option instead in 3.

Software Update even works correctly, since the hidden Apps are still visible for operating system.

P.S. 2012.06.04 : I made an AppleScript applet to do this process automatically. You can download and try the applet below. You will need an administrator password so that the applet can modify the Applications and Utility folder. To modify "what you don't want to hide", simply open the applet with "AppleScript Editor", and then change "Variables".

Another cold day, I tried to have fun staying at home. Time for still life study.

Little plant seemed to be perfect, but I needed to complement composition with...ahh, apples. Used my trustworthy Pentax *ist DL with Pentax 50mm lens.

Mousse (pronounced /ˈmuːs/) is derived from the French word mousse which means "lather" or "foam". A mousse is a stable prepared food that incorporates air bubbles to give it a light and airy texture. Depending on how it is prepared, it can range from light and fluffy to creamy and thick.

Scrabble (£5.99)

Sitting on a coffee table the iPad lights up to make a great board game. And, bundled with the free Tile Rack app for your iPhone, it's like the real thing (except it's harder to cheat!).

Need for Speed Shift (£7.49), Pinball HD (£1.79), Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior (£0.59)

Great arcade games that make the most of the iPad's speed, graphics and accelerometer.

Epicurious (Free)

The Epicurious Recipes & Shopping List app is always shown in iPad ads. Use it and you'll see why! It includes hundreds and thousands of recipes, and the large fonts coupled with iPad's screen make it a perfect cooking companion.

Movies (Free)

Cinema times, trailers and reviews make the Movies a one-stop-shop for film fans.

TVCatchup (Free)

More a web app than an iPad app, but I keep it on the home screen because it's just so darned good. It's basically freeview digital TV (that's all the channels you'd get from a set top box) on your iPad. It works on your iPhone and your desktop too.

NPR (Free), AP News (Free) and NYT Editors' Choice (Free)

Three news apps from American sources, each with innovative interfaces, made immersive with compelling photography, audio and video.

WIRED Magazine (Free, £2.39 per issue), Popular Science+ (£2.99, £1.79 per issue), Vanity Fair (£2.99, £2.39 per issue)

Reading is clearly the most compelling use-case for the Apple iPad and these three magazines show why. Yes, the pricing is awkward, but the publications spring to life, with glorious design, interactivity and immersion. See an ad for BMW? Tap to see it in action! Reading an article about the solar system? Explore for yourself, rotating the planets with your finger.

The Apple TV I picked up on Friday October 01, 2010

No shortage of apples this year.

Snapped a few shots at my desk at work the other day. This is part of my lunch, sitting on top of my jacket turned inside out.
