Don't eat its leaves. Don't eat its roots. Don't eat its stems. They are toxic. But, supposedly the "apples", which are not really apples, are edible.
Mayapple is a native perennial wildflower of the moist woods, often found in large colonies in Michigan. They have two large leaves, and a single white flower on nodding stems.
6 eggs
1 cup oil
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons potato starch
2 teaspoons Passover Baking Powder
2 cups matzah cake meal
pinch salt
Apple filling:
2 teaspoons cinnamon
3/4 cup sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
5 large apples, peeled and diced (about 71/2 cups)
Topping:
1/4 cup sugar
1 to 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Directions:
1.Grease a 9-inch spring-form pan. Place parchment paper on bottom. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2.Beat eggs with sugar until blended. Add oil and beat. Sift together potato starch, cake meal, and pinch salt. Add sifted items to egg mixture.
3.For the filling: mix together cinnamon, sugar, and lemon juice and add to the apples. Sauté in 2 Tbsp margarine for about 5 minutes. Drain well.
4.Add the apple filling (well drained) to egg mixture and mix.

Bake at 350 F for 50-55 minutes.

Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I last posted. I've been kinda busy and had to focus on other things for a while. Though I have lots of photos to upload, it's hardly fair for me to post and run without spending the time to view and comment on my contacts' photos as well. So I chose just to back away from Flickring until I have more time. For the next month or so I will probably be posting irregularly, and will take the time to visit you all when I do. I want you all to know that I have missed you and your wonderful pictures.
Oh, and HBW!!
Have fun while you shop until you drop.

Today I went in search of apples. I did find the apples, but I also found some new friends. :)

The legend of this fruit: The 'Crab Apple' got its name many many years ago. Infact it was shortly just after the wheel was invented sometime around my birth date. A farmer was sitting on a bale of hay when suddenly from out of the heavens a bright light caught his eye. He followed it to earth only to discover a 'Space Crab' perched on a tiny apple in his orchard. From that day to this the little apple is known as a 'Crab Apple' ..... or so the legend says :)
Taken Macro 1:1 for the group #MacroMondays theme: #Fruit
Drifting back into reality these are 'Crab Apple's', very small wild apple fruits, the largest apple is about 3/4 of an inch, beloved by Blackbirds especially and too sour for us humans to eat from the tree so is usually made into a jelly or a drink. Here they are on heavy textured paper illuminated from above and below using diffused LED lights.
