Hi everyone, I have just come back from a 12 day road trip to North Queensland travelling over 5000kms and visiting lots of little coastal towns along the way. One of my favourite places was Cape Hillsborough National Park just north of Mackay. This stunning location is famous for kangaroos and wallabies being fed on the beach at Sunrise (photos to come a little later).Sadly I was only here for 1 night and stayed in one of the lovely cabins right near the beach so I didn't have far to go for sunrise and boy was it a beauty! This is taken from the beach right outside the resort looking across to Wedge Island. I would love to return one day and stay a little longer to walk across to this island at low tide and to discover other treasures that this national park holds such as a waterfall and a cave and a rockpool!

One from the archives to beat the dreary weather on Christmas Eve in the UK.

Stunning location in Lofoten - having just watched “No Time To Die” 007 Bond film they might want to check out the stunning roads, bridges and tunnels in the Lofoten Islands for a future film.

With much of the province dealing with wildfires this is an all too common sight in the evenings. Its very creepy and beautiful at the same time.

---> Nose of plum, dark bread, and black olives. Flavor follows suit. Medium-sweet body and medium-full mouthfeel; off-dry finish. Tasty and sipping strong. (The brewery does not offer much description except that the beer contains 9.6% alcohol.)

▶ "Bock is a traditional, strong, malty Bavarian lager. ... Dopplebock is a strong [bock] beer with a typical alcohol content beyond 7% ABV. The style originated in the Bavarian capital of Munich, Germany, and was for a fairly long time synonymous with the Salvator beer brewed by Paulaner. Other breweries indicate the style by amending '-ator' to the beer's name. While they can be brewed to any color and made by different methods, doppelbocks are usually reddish-brown bottom-fermented lagers, and generally show a toffee-like, bready aroma and rich malty palate with notable residual sweetness. Hops are usually robust enough to offer some balance, but rarely about 25 IBU."

USA Today has selected the city of Avondale Estates, Georgia, as the nation's best small-town beer scene for 2021. The small city (population: est. 3,093) defeated nineteen other towns for the honor.

☞ "The charming town of Avondale Estates, just east of Decatur, Georgia, has a small downtown area packed with unique food and beverage offerings. For beer lovers, there’s Wild Heaven Beer (brewery), The Lost Druid Brewery, The Beer Growler & Pint Haus, and (soon) Little Cottage Brewery."

Zackig in den Montag.

Long since gone are the days of 'Scarecrows' and other 'Bird Scaring Devices'.

In recent years, farmers have made increasing use of Bio-degradable ventilated polythene films to protect and provide optimum growing conditions for their vegetable crops. The sheeting also has small holes providing airflow to ensure maximum quality yield.

Took this early morning shot from the rear of my home in Betws yn Rhos, Conwy, North Wales overlooking adjacent farmland. The farmer has recently planted a Sweet Corn crop after last week ploughing and tilling the field. The sheeting will remain in place as the crop grows until its harvested.

Compositionally several factors attracted me in taking this shot...the polythene's lines enhancing perspective, the side light glistening and reflecting on it, the tree silhouettes and framing. In taking the shot with a Tamron 28-300mm lens, I also used a polarising filter to mitigate the reflecting light.

The scene also evoked childhood memories of my singing one of the most performed hymns in the United Kingdom - especially at School and Church Harvest Festivals...." We plough the fields and scatter the good seed on the land"....
