This is the Office Max side, I think these doors were cut into the brick.

Travelin' for love...

I saw Davis from across Decatur Street and noticed his sign that said "Travelin' for Love." I wanted to find out what kind of love he was traveling for. Was he traveling to meet his love? Was he hoping to find love? What did he mean?

So, I walked across the street to ask him. Davis wants to spread love. He's been traveling for the past nine months from his home in Washington State. He stayed several months in California working on a farm there. But he's made his way to New Orleans and is heading next on his bike to Georgia.

Davis is keeping a blog about his travels across the country. Check it out, it's an interesting read!

It was great meeting you, Davis!

Thank you, Davis, for being number 21 in my 100 Strangers Project.

Day 100 - Saturday, 10th April 2010

It was beautiful day today, almost felt like Summer. I decided to take advantage of the weather and go to the local park and take pictures of some nice landscapes but when I got there the car park was full and I ended up taking picture of the derelict building nearby.

I'm not sure what this building used to be, for as long as I remember it's been in this condition. This is in Alexandra Retail Park, next to Matalan.

Even better in large.

Test Minolta 100-300 APO Paid 30 dollars for when into a store and see it in the Glass and ask the Owner how much and he thought about it and told me 30 dollars i pull the money out so fast .......this is a inside shot can't wait to shoot more .i just look on Ebay they go for around $275 and the one i seen was no where in this shape...........

Having recently purchased a new bicycle, I've taken to city exploration as often as possible, especially on Saturday afternoons. Coming down a side avenue in the West Village, I slowed at a stop sign, the intricate blue wall decoration to the right of Mr. Taylor having caught my attention. I noticed him next, though he almost faded into the darkness of the ivy behind him. I pulled up in front of him, gave a quick synopsis of this project (one I'm coming to appreciate more and more) and he cooly accepted my offer. I took a few shots, but I thought the proportion of body to wall worked best in this one.

Mr. Taylor, a manager in the local Ralph Lauren shop, also turned out to be an artist-writer-graphics type—the sort of downtown New York staple that adds a very different piece to the collection. As has proven true for a few of my proposed participants, when asked what he wanted the world to know about him (if only one or two things), he didn't have an answer for me. He didn't need one—his being a perfect complement to his surroundings did the trick.

This new filter is going to get some getting-used to! 100 seconds and it was still a bit dark. Also need to do it on a day when there are slightly less clouds!

i want to thank all of you very very much i really enjoy the flickr friendship with you

and thanks again for visiting my page so often.....

will try my best for the future and keep friendship

Not long after stranger #73 went on his way, I spotted Sean walking toward me holding a cup of coffee and looking relaxed. I stopped him and explained the project and he agreed to a picture.

Sean (hope that's the right spelling) is a post grad student from New England across the pond. He's been here for about a year and has just returned from a break in Main. He was probably the only person on the street that day who would have thought it a lovely warm day!

During our brief encounter Sean gave the impression of being strong, self assured and an incredibly nice guy.

Originally I hadn't planned for a B&W picture but the light was starting to fade and I wasn't able to get much 'punch' out of the colour picture. It seems much better in B&W.

Thanks Sean for being a part of my project, I really appreciate your stopping for me.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Every Soldier from the 143d Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) who fired an M9 pistol, M4 carbine or M16 rifle met or exceeded the Army's weapon qualification standards while training at the Orange County Sheriff's range April 18, 2015.

The Soldiers spent the morning and early afternoon hours "zeroing" their rifles and carbines. Every Soldier initiates this essential task by shooting three rounds at a target. Although this stationery, paper target lays 25 meters from the Soldier, the size of the black, torso-shaped silhouette is roughly equivalent to a human-sized silhouette standing 300 meters from the shooter.

Between three-shot intervals the Soldiers and their range safety officers inspect the targets, take note of their rounds' point of impact, and make the necessary site adjustments on their respective weapons. When Soldiers consistently hit the target's center of mass, they proceed to a qualification range where they must hit a minimum of 23 of 40 targets situated 50 to 300 meters away from each shooter. Each Soldier fires 20 rounds from a prone supported position, 10 rounds from the prone unsupported position and 10 rounds from the kneeling position.

Soldiers who qualified with the M9 pistol conducted a similar qualification from various shooting stances and positions. "Zeroing" a pistol is impractical due to its short effective range relative to their rifle counterparts.

On my regular way home there is normally no real opportunity to think about my project. But I now started to put some spare time inbetween the metro and the bus. And I got lucky straight away. I had about 20 minutes until my bus departure and Kolja made his way over to me.With his guitar (sad that I couldn't capture it in the regular frame) and his hat, he stood out of the crowd. He was keen for my project straight away and pleasantly chatted with me. Koljar just played as a street musician just around the corner. As a music event manager he is completly into music.

Thank you Kolja. I hope you like your portrait.

古寺鉱泉 朝陽館に突然いってみる

bit.ly/3ybL7l4

I approached her and her friend #90 when they were sitting near a tree talking and enjoying the last rays of sun. First i wasn't sure if i wanted to interrupt them as they seemed peaceful talking with each other, and i didn't want to break the moment. Nevertheless i decided to take the plunge as i love both of their expressions and knew i was going to regret it if i didn't take their portrait. Both are studying medicine in the medical university of basel. They didn't seem bothered with me intruding on their conversion. Slightly surprised but still with a smile they both agreed on a portrait and I did my thing.

I have come to the conclusion that even though it takes a lot more effort and courage to approach a group or more and ask them for a portrait, I find that in most cases people in groups seem to be more willing for me to take their portrait.

What do you think? Do you approach groups of people or only people who are on their own. what is holding you back?
