The 19th Annual Erie Gay News Family Pride Picnic, held Saturday, June 11 at the Rotary Pavilion was a great success! This year, Pride events are being coordinated by the Pride Planning committee, which is a coalition of groups and individuals.
About 290 people enjoyed a day of friends, food and fun. We also collected 100 pounds of food and $10 for the Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. Thanks so much for everyone’s generosity!

Charlotte: was my 4th stranger photo. Just something about her stood out. My approach line was.... 'It's your lucky day, I'm doing street photography of good looking people and I've pick you out, as everyone else looks inbred'.
She took a really nice photo too, didn't get anymore info.. sorry :(
Her hair colour and make up made me want to photo her. I'm glad she allowed me to, as I think this is a really good photo.

I can never forget you - the way you rock the girls
They move a world and love you - a blast in the underworld
I stick a knife in my head - thinking 'bout your eyes
But now that you been shot dead - I've got a new surprise
I been waitin' for you just to say
He's off to check his mind
But all I know is you got no money
But that's got nothing to do with a good time
Can you forgive the boy who - shot you in the head
Or should you get a gun and - go and get revenge?
A 100% of my love - up to you true star
It's hard to believe you took off - I always thought you'd go far
But I've been around the world a million times
And all you men are slime
It's goin' to my head, goodbye I am dead
Wastewood rockers is time for cryin', hey!

Living near a park meant that I was really keen to get a 100 strangers portrait making the most of the autumn colours. In addition I have recently been trying to adopt a more thoughtful approach in my use of colours (some successful and some not so).
In any case, I had been reading a series on composition by the street photographer Eric Kim and specifically wanted to use colour wheel theory in line with the Autumn hues.
Although there were a number of colours I could use, purple/mauve was the holy grail. Now all I had to do was find my purple clothed (or purple haired) stranger. Easier said than done. Greenwich park is a very popular park with lots of tourist visiting. However, after 3 trips and 5 hours of waiting, that perfect stranger was proving elusive. By now I was getting nervous that all the leaves would disappear from the trees.
On my 4th trip I hit gold (or purple :-) ). The location I had in my mind was no longer useable as the leaves had gone but there were still other spots I could use.
Vanessa was on her way to Royal Navel museum with her mum and as soon as I saw her scarf and hat combo I knew that she was the one.
Thankfully she agreed to a shot and I took took her to the spot I had in mind. I shot a few with and without the reflector and am generally pleased with how this came out.
Vanessa lives nearby and had only moved there recently with her partner. Her partner was interested in photography and was looking for a course and I recommended a few options. When I asked her mum's name she said "Vanessa's mum"
Thank you Vanessa's mum and Vanessa for being a part of my project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the

Reggie
You can tell from the photo that this gentleman looked too interesting to not ask to make his portrait. I had seen him from the inside of the restaurant; I came back to ask to make his portrait. He saw me walking up, took off his headphones, shook my hand. I introduced myself through shaking hands, and asked if I could make his portrait. He asked why, and I said he just looked really cool.
Of course, he wanted to give me a hard time (which was well worth it and in good fun!). He wanted to know something that he didn't know about me, and I said I spoke two languages. He asked where I was from and I said Puerto Rico. Reggie then said sure, and put the headphones back on. I asked him if he could look into my camera, and he said I was pushing it now. But he did, and said I only had one shot. This was my one shot and it seemed like he liked it. I know I did, and I feel so good to be starting this project!
Thanks Reggie!

I drove thru Newcastle Mall today and saw this beautiful woman playing the cello. Somewhat an unusual sight, I had to drive on some distance before I found a parking spot. Hoping she was still there I rushed back up the Mall and she and guitarist friend Brian had quite an audience. I listened for a few songs then asked if I could take her photograph. I explained a little about the 100 Strangers Project, details of which can be found here 100 Strangers Flickr Group page. She agreed and we chatted a little about her and the cello. I thought she must have been classically trained as she was quite adept and the music she was making was right on the mark, but no, that was not the case! She told me the story of the cello. It was her grandfathers and he died when she was a youngster aged 7, he had left it to her. For many many years it sat untouched at grandmas house until she took control of her beautiful inheritance and with it somewhat worse for wear after years of storage she had it restored.... and then Brian taught her how to play it!
I was not out hunting strangers today and was ill prepared. I had Moo cards, but no paper or pen. Meg if you see your image PLEASE send me an email and I will send you your pic.
THANK YOU for being my stranger no: 49.

It’s getting easier asking people if I can take their picture for this project ,suppose that’s the point : ) Walking back from the beach I saw a sleeping baby and proud father asked if I could take a picture (quietly of course ) he smiled and nodded. I took the picture saw that two ladies were also doing the same .I asked one off them could I take her pic and found out they were from Japan so I said konnichiha .The 1st picture she pulled a silly face and laughed, I pulled an even funnier one then she took off her sunglasses and took this one .Join us at

I was intrigued by the wonderful character of this man as I was walking through downtown Seattle. You could hear him yell from a block away, "SHOE SHINE..." as he hustled for customers. I wasn't having very good success asking strangers to take their portraits, but I was very lucky to stumble upon him. He was very nice gentleman and said, "go ahead, take all the pictures you want."
"It goes to show that unless you ask, you'll never know."

Maxim - “I bought 1500$ wine for 30 Euros in Italy”
Maxim was working as bartender at the Communion restaurant at the Old Port when I went for a drink with a few friends.”
“What is the best thing that happened to you lately?”
“I went to italy!”
“Ok why italy?”
“Well it's italy! And it was my first time outside America. And well since I'm a sommelier Italy made a lot of sense!”
“Ok but you could have gone to France, Spain, etc?”
“Well I have to also say that this was a paid the trip to visit vineyards and taste new wines for import. I felt like a prime minister on a diplomatic delegation.”
“What was the highlight of your trip?”
“We went to a restaurant where we knew the owners and they showed us a few crates of wine. They said “everything is 30 Euros per bottle” since they probably bought it back from bankruptcy or in bulk and they didn't care sorting the wines. We bought wines for 30 Euros that cost 1500$ here in Canada, It was amazing. I also tasted some Vin Santo wine from 1927.”
“Was it good?”
“That one felt like molasses.”

Dying for just another moment

100 Years by Five For Fighting
Here is picture 2 for week 6, A Child's View, of Project Awesome.
I remember when this song came out i was 8 years old. I had no clue what the lyrics meant, but i loved the song anyway. Here I am now, 15-years-old, and i only have a slight idea of the meaning of the song. But that's the beauty of youth. You have the imagination to wonder and love the world despite your lack of experience. To me, children are the ultimate philosophers because they know how to truly appreciate the world for what it is.
I guess this picture represents the topic because adults become so black and white with age. They forget to see the color in the world. They forget to open their eyes and and admire the little things. Now don't get me wrong, there are exceptions, but in general the little things are forgotten. They're only noticed when a child wanders off the beaten path and notices it's true beauty.
