I was thrilled to find this one.

I've been tagged. You know who you are :)

Jeez... I left out liking sunsets, storms, lightning, thunder, bugs, amphibians, reptiles, orchids, iris, roses, photographs, history... and the smile and laugh of a woman...

1.I’ve actually sold a painting I did. I should have kept it. As an artist I would have starved a long time ago though. But I will try again someday.

2.I’ve been writing a book for the past year or so… I hope to have it finished this year. Some of it actually makes sense thus far…

3.My son has held my life in his hands on many occasions, as I have his while climbing. How many men can say that literally?

4.I admire men like Alvin York, Theodore Roosevelt, and my Dad.

5.I enjoy the company of people with dreams and stories. So many of the people we walk by have the most extraordinary tales!

6.I love to laugh. Whether by Monty Python or Mark Twain, a sharp wit is greatly appreciated!

8.I often dream in color… I am no stranger to colorful language either.

9.I keep my hand on my wallet with both Republicans and Democrats. Man is a political animal, as Aristotle once said. Therefore, one still must keep a wary eye on those that believe they know a better way to run your life.

11.A child’s pain is my Achilles heel. I can’t stand the sight of that pain.

13.I believe everyone should know a tune, a poem, a quote, a joke and a prayer. Be prepared for life.

14.I love my family, my friends, and my country, and have no qualms about fighting for any of them at any cost. The choice between self-defense and submission is an easy one for me.

15.I have been loved and hated. Sometimes in the same day :)

16.Whenever I am alone, I know someone cares about me.

I'm gonna write 10 random facts about myself, Just because i am bored...

1. I love canon, and cant use any other camera... Nikon makes me crazy!

2. my nickname "leetalav" comes from the two norwegian words "lita" and "lav" which means "small" and "low".... this nickname is because of my height..

I’ll begin a series of posts of that walk, beginning with some shots of buildings and graffiti as I walked from Dale Street up to and along Tithebarn Street. I’d intended to photograph a new shopping mall along Pall Mall but couldn’t see anything resembling a mall on that street. It was only when I returned home that I discovered that One Pall Mall is in Bixteth Street – the next street along Tithebarn Street – behind the former Exchange Station, which I did photograph. My favourite shot from this post is one that I never thought would turn out when I took a snap through a barber’s window in Dale Street – my first shot of the afternoon.

(•) – The-Lockheed-Martin-HC-130-P-Hercules-The-Combat-K.I.N.G-1-I-is an extended-range version of the C-130 Hercules transport. HC-130 crews provide expeditionary, all weather personnel recovery capabilities to our Combatant Commanders and Joint/Coalitions partners worldwide.

Mission

The mission of the HC-130P/N "King" is to rapidly deploy to austere airfields and denied territory in order to execute , all weather personnel recovery operations anytime...anywhere. King crews routinely perform high and low altitude personnel & equipment airdrops, infiltration/exfiltration of personnel, helicopter air-to-air refueling, and forward area refueling point missions.

When tasked, the aircraft also conducts humanitarian assistance operations, disaster response, security cooperation/aviation advisory, emergency aeromedical evacuation, casualty evacuation, noncombatant evacuation operations, and, during the Space Shuttle program, space flight support for NASA.

Features

Modifications to the HC-130P/N are improved navigation, threat detection and countermeasures systems. The aircraft fleet has a fully-integrated inertial navigation and global positioning systems, and night vision goggle, or NVG, compatible interior and exterior lighting. It also has forward-looking infrared, radar and missile warning receivers, chaff and flare dispensers, satellite and data-burst communications.

The HC-130 can fly in the day; however, crews normally fly night at low to medium altitude levels in contested or sensitive environments, both over land or overwater. Crews use NVGs for tactical flight profiles to avoid detection to accomplish covert infiltration/exfiltration and transload operations. To enhance the probability of mission success and survivability near populated areas, crews employ tactics that include incorporating no external lighting or communications, and avoiding radar and weapons detection.

Drop zone objectives are done via personnel drops and equipment drops. Rescue bundles include illumination flares, marker smokes and rescue kits. Helicopter air-to-air refueling can be conducted at night, with blacked out communication with up to two simultaneous helicopters. Additionally, forward area refueling point operations can be executed to support a variety of joint and coalition partners.

Background

The HC-130P/N is the only dedicated fixed-wing combat search and rescue platform in the Air Force inventory. The 71st and 79th Rescue Squadrons in Air Combat Command, the 550th Special Operations Squadron in Air Education and Training Command, the 920th Rescue Group in Air Force Reserve Command and the 106th Rescue Wing, 129th RQW and 176th Wing in the Air National Guard operate the aircraft.

First flown in 1964, the aircraft has served many roles and missions. It was initially modified to conduct search and rescue missions, provide a command and control platform, in-flight-refuel helicopters and carry supplemental fuel for extending range and increasing loiter time during search operations.

In April 2006, the continental U.S. search and rescue mission was transferred back to Air Combat Command at Langley AFB, Va. From 2003 to 2006, the mission was under the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Previously, HC-130s were assigned to ACC from 1992 to 2003. They were first assigned to the Air Rescue Service as part of Military Airlift Command.

They have been deployed to Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in support of operations Southern and Northern Watch, Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. HC-130s also support continuous alert commitments in Alaska and the Horn of Africa.

1. I like to run. I have too much energy for my own good so I started marathon running and so far that’s been doing me well.

2. I like to hang out with people. Not sure if you can call that a hobby, but it’d be mine if it could be one.

3. I have an interest in technology. I like making computers do things I tell them to. I don’t like it when your computer’s being a whore and you need me to help you with it.

4. I talk to myself frequently, especially when left alone for too long. If I’m left alone for too long I’d go pretty nuts. Not Jack Nicholson nuts, Bart Simpson when he had a cast nuts.

5. It drives me mental when people print things unnecessarily, like emails. Printers are for things like recipes (unless you have a saran-wrap covered computer in the kitchen or something) or directions/map (if you’re without a GPS/PDA).

9. It confuses me when people tape flowers and wreaths to telephone poles because their loved ones died near them on the road. If I die in a car accident, plant a tree in a nice garden and think about me there not by the side of a highway with trucks chugging by.

10. If you didn’t have to pay a mortgage you could get by on very little cash.

11. Don’t ask me, ask Google. It doesn’t get irritated or snippy with you when you ask a stupid question. Just don’t type google into Google...

14. I don’t want to be around when the hills come alive to the sound of music and conquer Berlin.

15. Robert Service the poet is my great great great great great great great great great uncle. Robert Service the teacher is my uncle, who is incidentally also great.

16. I like to go camping and fishing but find it hard to find the time to go. Cottages are so much easier and girls will come with you.

I've been tagged by Amelea :)

Ten facts about me:

hmmm..........

1. I find it extremely hard to focus when I do things I don't like. I get distracted so easily.

2. My favorite month is December. Firstly because my birthday's in Dec. Secondly, it's the happiest time of the year. Thirdly, that's when the presents come ;D

3. I admitt I get angry very easily. It's scary when I show it. When I hide it, I get harsh when I finally let it out.

4. I go with the flow. I usually don't like planning ahead. I have no clue what I'm going to be when I grow up.

5. Apparently, people think I look un-outgoing and extremely quiet. The truth is, just get to know me and you'll see how loud I can get sometimes.

6. I hate being lonely, and I'd often feel that way.

7. I always dream about the same person. Sometimes I wish no one wakes me up when I dream.

8. When I was little, I wanted to be an artist and a writer. Now, those are the two things I would never want to be.

9. I dislike the science course. I've never gotten an average higher than 84 for that class.

10. I think depressing subjects are very beautiful. But I love happy candids as well.

Well, I was told to type ten facts...

Here goes...

1. I try to support others with their dreams when I sometimes don't even support my own.

2. I almost always tend to write too much for any assignment at school or any comment/message online.

3. I always thought that I had tons of close friends... it seems like the list gets shorter and shorter everyday.

4. I try to stay in good athletic shape and appearance but I am not an athlete.

5. I always go crazy after someone keeps repeatedly making me angry. Most people never REALLY see me get mad...

8. I am left handed.

9. I very recently took up playing the Electric Bass Guitar.

10. I always find myself thinking... staring off into space just in the perplexities of my bewildering thought patterns. I mainly wonder about life itself and why others give up on their dreams.

I am not at all shocked that I completed this list. One day I'll do a 1,000 item list.

Then you'll know me better than my family does...

LOL!

Flexitrichum gracile (Mitt.) Ignatov & Fedosov, syn.: Ditrichum gracile (Mitt.)Kuntze, Ditrichum crispatissimum (Mill. Hqal.) Par.

Family: Flexitrichaceae (former in Ditrichaceae)

EN: Slender Ditrichum, DE: Krummstielmoos

Slo.: unknown

Dat.: Oct. 31. 2021 in Nov. 1. 2021

Lat.: 46.35819 Long.: 13.70461

Code: Bot_1416/2021_DSC09378, Bot_1417/2021_DSC4998

Habitat: very steep, rocky mountain slope, northwest aspect; about 10 m above mountain stream; on soil-covered boulders, calcareous, skeletal ground, partly on overgrown scree; open place, mostly in shade; exposed to direct rain, average precipitations ~ 3.000 mm/year, average temperature 6-8 deg C, elevation 545 m (1.790 feet), alpine phytogeographical region.

Substratum: sandy soil.

Place: Lower Trenta valley, between villages Soča and Trenta, about 100 m upstream from Matevž's (Trenta 1) footbridge, left bank of river Soča, few meters above a river bed, East Julian Alps, Posočje, Slovenia.

Comment (pertains to Flickr album Flexitrichum gracile): Flexitrichum gracile is a widespread and fairly common moss. Since it is quite tall and grows in the typically lax patches of thin, wispy stems, it is not difficult to recognize it.

It is an acrocarpous moss, which means that the stems are erect and in which the archegonia (female sex organs), and hence the capsules, are borne at the tips of stems. This type of mosses shows usually little or no branching and grow in erect tufts. However, in Flexitrichum gracile the capsules are very rare.

Wow. I got tagged by a whole bunch of people. And I figure that with the folks who tagged me and the general dolly overlap . . . tagging back is sort of pointless. Cause it would be the same people all over again. So if you are reading this and you AREN'T one of the folks who tagged ME . . . consider yourself tagged. Post a picture, and in the description post 16 things about yourself. Then send a FM to 16 other people (please, not me again! LOL) tagging them.

1) I have NEVER owned a drivers license. I do not drive at all.

2) I am a nearly obsessive crafter; I don't sit still well.

3) I have a strange obsession with stickers. I love them.

4) Same with stupid gumball machine toys. I can't help myself!

5) I have two dogs, Buddy and Holly.

6) Most of the foods I have named my dolls/toys after are ones I really dislike (Watermelon, Honeydew, Celery, Oatmeal)

7) One year, I knit 100 pairs of baby socks for a contest.

8) I met my husband on the interwebz! (Which should be a strong warning for you all)

9) I adore video games, but I am horrible at them. RPGs are the best, because they require less thumb agility.

10) I am teaching myself to spin!

11) I also taught myself to knit . . . but when I was 10 years old.

12) I didn't even TASTE beer until I was 25. I like it now, but only good stuff.

13) I am exceedingly bad at girly stuff. I live out my girly fantasies through the dolls. I don't own a dress, but my girls rarely wear anything else (except Quinn).

14) I don't own a watch. People give them to me, but I break them fast.

15) I don't own a cell phone. I get nervous just touching the new ones, they seems so fragile!

16) I rarely watch TV; I've probably never seen your favorite show! I love Heroes and Mythbusters though!

This is my wishlist. Not in any particular order. Except for number 1.

1. I want to be healthy. Now and in the future. I am tired of feeling pain all the time. I have a Plantar fasciitis in my right foot and it causes me to limp. And limping gives me severe backpain. I want to live without medication.

2. I want a pet mouse. Or two. Me and my BF are both very allergic to animals. We would looove a dog but this will never happen so we thought a mouse would be great. The are small and cute.

3. I want to travel. All over. Everywhere!!!

4. I want to live by the sea one day. I love the sea. Couldn't breathe without it.

5. I want love in my life. I'm in love and want to be the this way for the rest of my life.

6. I want peace. Not only world peace but I want to live a peacefull life without any hurry. I want to be able to sit down and breathe and live without timetables. I'm able to do this right now and I want it to stay this way.

7.More Blythes! Very simple wish ;)

8. I want a kid one day. If I won't be able to have one then I want all the kids in the world to be loved as much as I would love a one of my own.

9. I want to write and illustrate a children's book. From start to finish.

That's it. Very simple wishes. Now I tag everyone. :)

Hi all,

I do apologize for the silence. I am back in Barcelona after a couple of days in Rome. It was wonderful but I walked for miles. I had bought comfortable shoes for it but Vueling lost my bag. Still don't have it. I had to go shopping in Rome for clothes. If you know me, you know that I hate shopping for clothes. Ugh. Do no fly Vueling. Budget airline turned out to cost more than I wanted.

I got back to BCN on 8/28 Friday night and took the Aerobus to get back to the apartment. It was an odd sensation coming back to BCN. It felt like coming home.

I had to get a lot of cables replaced but still need the one that I can upload my photos with, so here's a funny one of me taken with Photobooth. Forgive me if I look tired, I just came back from a day on the hop on hop off bus tour. I saw lots and tomorrow, I visit the great La Sagrada Familia.

It's beautiful weather here even though it really has cooled down quite a bit from Rome's heat.

I am doing well - I miss all of you but there is still much to explore. Worry not :-) I'll be home soon enough.

The original image is a photograph I took of Mulberry Street, Little Italy in New York on the 31st August 2012, whilst having a coffee outside of Giovanna’s Ristorante. If you search on Google Maps for the corner of Hester Street/Mulberry Street and then switch to Street View, facing south (approximately) you will be able to contrast my modified image with the actual street.

(This link may also take you there and then zoom in using Street View. Remember to look south.

maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&g... )

In Photoshop I did the following:

1.Opened original.

2.Duplicated the original twice using the shortcut Ctrl+ J to create Layer 1 and Layer 1 copy.

3.On the layer at the top of the stack, Layer 1 copy, I applied a charcoal filter and set the blending mode to soft light which inked in the various edges within the image

4.On the middle layer, Layer 1, I then applied a spatter filter to create a painted look and feel.

5.On both the background layer and layer 1 I increased the saturation to make the colours more vibrant.

6.On Layer 1 I then created a new layer mask (Add Layer Mask button at bottom right of screen, as there is no shortcut) and used the eraser tool on the layer mask to remove the ‘spatter filter’ from flags, road markings, signage and the clock on the right hand pavement. However the effect of the charcoal filter still impacted the overall image.

7.I then copied the layer mask in layer 1 using the ‘Ctrl + click’ on the mask. Having done so I then selected ‘layer 1 copy’ and created another layer mask which duplicated the previous one. The effect of the charcoal filter was automatically removed.

8.Finally I created another white layer at the top of the stack and using the eraser tool with a brush, I ‘painted in’ the underlying image leaving a ragged white border, making the image appear to be more of a painting.

Inflorescence 3–10-flowered; peduncle c. 2 cm long; pedicels 6–13 mm long; flowers yellow-green. Hypanthium 7–9 mm long, slightly or distinctly ribbed. Sepals usually 8, c. 2 mm long, erect in fruit. Petals 1.5–2 mm long, bearded outside near base; lobes c. 0.5 mm long; terminal bristles 3 on each lobe and 1 in sinus, about as long as lobes. Anthers oblong, distinctly shorter than filaments. Fruit 1–2 cm long. Hypocotyl 7–20 cm long, 5 mm wide, not ribbed, falling with fruit attached; fruit wall persistent as a collar on seedling, the sepals pointing downwards.

Note:

1. Bruguiera can be distinguished from other genera in the Rhizophoraceae family by the number of calyx lobes (8-15). Ceriops spp. have 5 calyx lobes while Rhizophora spp. have 4.

2. Bruguiera parviflora can be distinguished from other, large-flowered, Bruguiera species by it's small flowers and multi-flowered inflorescences and petal spine longer than the petal lobes. It is further distinguished from B. cylindrica by it's long, narrow, ribbed, calyx with short lobes slightly reflexed during flowering, and adpressed during propagule maturation. It also has small yellowish-green to light green leaves with slender petioles (<2mm wide).

Assignment 6. This is version 1, I need to reshoot to get the foreground right, the monkey hand is behind the cutout I made of the painting.

This image was inspired by the painting 'The Death of Chatterton', by Henry Wallis (commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Henry_Wallis_-_Chatterton...) and The Pixies song (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALjSXspCpko&feature=fvst). With thanks to T15JTW for lending the monkey.

I printed out 2 copies of the painting one with a 10% reduction which I cut out to make the foreground chest & coat. I used some material scraps to make the bed and pillow and arranged the monkey in a suitably tragic pose. I used a torch and home-made snoot to create the effect of light coming through the 'windows'. It was fun to shoot :)

Well after much sanding of the hull I am ready to fillet/tape the inner deck to hull seams.

To access this area I have to cutt my hatches 1st.

Here you see my bow Hatch all cutt out.

I had two concerns prior to cutting the hatches.

1. I wanted the most narrowest gap between the hatch as possible.

2. I wanted the utmost control of the cutting.

Since I'm still not confident I could get this even with the finest jig/skill saws I decided to cutt it by hand.

1st I drew out my hatches.

The gentleman who created this kayak design has done hatches in many different shapes but the ones in the manual are pretty basic rounded squares.

I wanted the shape of my hatches to take the same form as the surrounding points of the deck.

I started by drawing a quick layout in pencil on one side of the deck & let the shape sink in to my brain for a few days. After I was confident this is the shape I wanted I redrew it. I used the squarish hatch templates provided but re-drawing the front ends up to a point, mimicking the point on the inner deck peices. I transfred this new template onto cardboard, one side only and traced it onto my deck and flipping it over to do the otherside.

I used the same new template to create the rear however I slid the template down an inch making the rear hatch wider and also a bit longer.

I scored the lines using a #1 X-acto knife going over the lines about three times. Then using a narrow & thin X-acto saw blade in the same knife I gently cutt out the hatch.

The method worked well & the output was just what I wanted but it took way to long to do. About two hours. :>(

I will put my Jig/Skill saw on a slow speed and attempt the rear hatch tomorrow.

If I mess up even the slightest bit... It's back to the X-Acto's.

I tryed the rear with the JigSaw, I think this would of worked ok but yesterday, thinking I was doing it by hand, I scored the lines once and now the saw even with a new blade was tearing during the cutt. So back to the hand work.

Thought the rear hatch was bigger I already knew what X-Actos methods/combinations worked best so it took me less time to cutt out. About an hour with some stopping.

By the way...

I really needed a bigger bench in here.

So what does one do when they need a bench but have to much stuff to put one in?

Simple! You make your stuff into the bench. I turned the couch around & layed the boards from my 1st bench ontop of it. I also moved one of the two love seats that were stacked on top of one another to behind me leaving the one next to my bench open to sit in as I read my manuals look at my pictures and general relaxing.

Case anyones wondering this is not my livingroom. It is the second floor of our boat house. A guest room that's only used in the Summer.

Though the furniture is nothing special before I do any messy work I will drape a tarp over it.

So to date I've reorganized this room three times.

There is no less stuff then when I started and three times the room.

About 2 months ago I did the same down stairs with all my Brothers stuff that is stored there and still am amazed at the space I got.

I should be a mover. Given a little time I bet I could fit an entire house into a small uhaul.

1) I think I have to revisit the chariot / cockpit base. Having structural issues.

2) I have to find a way to make it "match" Thor's aesthetics as well. Not sure how literal I have to go with that for the contest.

3) Still need to edit the wings and chunk up the legs more.
