Am 6. September konnte ein weitere ICE 1 in voller Länge bei Gemünden am Main fotofrafiert werden. Tz 0111 beförderte ICE 2924 von München nach Hamburg-Altona.

On 6th September another ICE 1 train could be photographed in full length near the beautiful town of Gemünden. The hauling Tz 0111 started its journey on that day in Munich and will arrive in Hamburg-Altona several hours later.

This year, the astronomical autumn will start in Europe on September 22, but the meteorological one started on September 1. I'm not even surprised that some sims are already dressed in autumn clothes :)

One such sim showed us Michiel in his beautiful photo.

I was right there to see it and it's really beautiful. I will definitely make an autumn photo of it.

So why a black and white photo now?

I just sometimes swim against the tide. :)

An alternate title that came to mind that probably only I would understand was '3 5 1'

I often 'see' number sets when I photograph and when shooting this scene I first saw (in my admittedly strange way of seeing) a set of three round objects on the left, 5 vertical lines in the middle and 1 rectangle on the right. Perhaps a therapist could help?

*One week of Transport & Motion* Mon-Day 1

I had a few songs in mind, nothing came quite close, too many travel stories, too many ideas, one week of transport is not enough, I never got over the idea that SL is also a journey.

I just came back from a 4 hours Fotowalk through the City of Munich. It is the Advent Season and this is a very good Time to take Nightshots on some of the Christmas Markets. I took 4 Lenses with me: the Leitz/Leica SUMMILUX 1.4/50, the Leitz/Leica SUMMILUX 1.4/75, the Leitz/Leica ELMARIT 2.8/135 and the MOG Trioplan 2.8/100 neo.

This Shot is taken with the Sony a7 Mark 2 and the MOG Trioplan 2.8/100 neo. I do plan to issue one of those Photos every Day till Christmas. So today this is # 1.

D9000"Royal Scots Grey" absolutely flying past Red Bank north of Warrington this morning with 1Z70 07.30 London Euston - Carlisle non stop! and it was running 30 minutes early at this point, maintaining a 33 early arrival at Carlisle.

Although a class 1 I haven't seen anything advertised, could it be a test run for the "Deltic"

Well, this is new.

I've been interested in panoramas for a long time. I love the wide aspect ratio of movies, especially of Toho and Panavision of the 60s (basically 2.35 : 1). But with shooting both 6x7 and 4x5 (basically 1.25 : 1), I've gotten used to what's so very close to square.

So this. Okay, I picked up what's being called a "half frame dark slide," which are a bunch of words when put together don't make a ton of sense. Basically, it's a dark slide for 4x5 film holders that's cut (basically) in half lengthwise. It allows only half of the sheet to be exposed at one time, giving you a workable panorama/ultrawide frame.

This requires a bit of memory and coordination to not double expose one half of your frame, but I am anything if not organized, which apparently made up for both my shitty memory and lack of coordination.

I'm not going to give a tutorial on how to use the half frame dark slide. You'll either get it or you won't (you will). You can find them cheap as hell on Ebay or expensive in other places.

What I thought would be more of a challenge was composing. For the most part, I did okay. I made a mask for the ground glass out of the cardboard from a cereal box (Multi-Grain Cheerios are a lovely snack), blackened it with a Sharpie and taped the edges with book binders tape. My camera has little notch sort of things to hold the ground glass cover, but you can figure out how to make it work for your own camera.

I do really suggest a mask though - it helps so much in composing.

Another tip: start the composition and focus with the mask off. Especially the focus. Then put the mask on and move your front standard up or down (depending) to frame your shot. Also, I've found that for me it's best to have stuff more in focus than not. With a taller frame, doing weird shit with camera movements and bokeh works out because the frame is closer to the size of the image circle. But when you essentially lop off the top and bottom of the image circle, you're left with fuzzy ends and it just looks weird.

Anyway, they're cheap as hell. Get one and play around. Or don't. It's your photography.

A rescue plant from the nursery. Often when I go to our local nursery, they have a stand with plants on their last legs for $1. I wasn't sure what plant it was as it had no label, but one flower has bloomed - it is an African Daisy and a pretty one as well.

Fundat amb tota probabilitat al segle x, la seva església romànica és la més antiga que es conserva a la ciutat de Barcelona,[1] i és l'únic d'aquest estil a la ciutat.[2] El seu petit claustre, amb arcs polilobulats, és únic dins l'arquitectura del romànic europeu.Història

No hi ha dades exactes sobre la data de construcció. Hom creu que va ser abans de l'any 911, que és la data que figura a la làpida trobada al monestir i corresponent a la tomba de Guifré II, a qui s’atribueix la fundació del monestir. Es creu, també, que el comte va iniciar la construcció d'una església sobre les restes d'un antic edifici religiós i que s’hi va establir una comunitat de monjos benedictins. El monestir era fora de la protecció de les muralles de la ciutat; d'aquí el seu nom, ja que es trobava al mig del camp.

Com que era fora del recinte emmurallat, el monestir va esdevenir un blanc fàcil per als atacants. Així, el 985, les tropes d'Almansor el van atacar;[3] va quedar destruït gairebé completament i fou abandonat per la comunitat. A partir d'aquella data va passar a ser una simple església dedicada a sant Pau.

El 1096 va començar la restauració de l'edifici i s'hi va instaurar una nova comunitat. Malgrat tot, el monestir fou novament atacat el 1114. Tres anys després, el matrimoni format per Geribert Guitard i Rotlendis en van fer una nova restauració i van unir el monestir, en qualitat de priorat, al de Sant Cugat del Vallès.Al segle xiv es va construir una nova muralla de la ciutat i Sant Pau del Camp va quedar finalment englobada dintre del nou recinte emmurallat. El 1508, el monestir es va unir al de Montserrat fins que el 1593 es va tornar a unir, també en forma de priorat, al de Sant Cugat.

El 1617 es va unir definitivament a un altre monestir, el de Sant Pere de la Portella, situat al Berguedà. El 1672 s'hi va instal·lar el noviciat de la Congregació Claustral Tarraconense, que abans era a Lleida, i es va iniciar l'època de major esplendor del cenobi. La comunitat va abandonar definitivament Sant Pau del Camp el 1835, amb la llei de desamortització de Mendizábal, que va comportar l'exclaustració. El darrer abat va ser Joan de Safont i de Ferrer, home certament polifacètic: teòleg, matemàtic, astrònom, filòsof, catedràtic de la Universitat de Barcelona i membre de l'Acadèmia de Bones Lletres.

A partir d'aleshores, el monestir va passar per diversos usos. El 1842 va esdevenir una escola, mentre que entre el 1855 i el 1890 es convertia en caserna militar. El 1879 fou declarat Monument Nacional, gràcies a la intervenció de diversos ciutadans, entre els quals Víctor Balaguer. El recinte fou novament devastat el 1936. Des d'aleshores s'hi han fet diverses restauracions.

El CRAI Biblioteca de Reserva de la Universitat de Barcelona conserva, arran de la desamortització dels convents del 1835, els fons provinents del Monestir de Sant Pau del Camp, que actualment sumen més de vint edicions.[4] Així mateix, ha registrat i descrit diversos exemples de les marques de propietat que van identificar el convent durant la seva existència.[5]

Sant Pau del Camp (Catalan for 'Saint Paul of the countryside' / 'in the fields'; IPA: [ˈsam ˈpaw ðəl ˈkam]) is a church and former monastery in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. While the monastery now stands within the El Raval district in central Barcelona, it once stood outside the city (before 14th century); its rural location gave the church its name.

History

There are no sources about the monastery's origins, it is generally thought that it was founded by count Wilfred II of Barcelona, whose funerary inscription was found within the monastery in 1596.[1] The monastery is documented from 977; in 985 it was sacked and destroyed by the Muslim troops of al-Mansur Ibn Abi Aamir.[2]

Restorations were begun in 1096, through donations from Geribert Guitard and Rotlendis,[2] and a new monastic community arrived. In 1117, Sant Pau became a priory of the monastery of Sant Cugat.[3] By the 13th, a new cloister, church and monastic quarters were built.[2] In 1377, the monastery consisted of a prior and eight monks, which declined in the 15th century to consist of three monks.[2] An initial monastic meeting for the Terragona province occurred in 1577 and such meetings would continue from 1594 to 1835.[2]

The monks were removed upon the secularization of monasteries by the Spanish government in 1835.[2]

It was declared a National Monument in 1879.

Sehr sehenswert ist am Rande des Ruhrgebietes auch die Straßenbahn in Duisburg. Mal mitten durch die Stadt oder wie in den südwestlich gelegenen Stadtteilen Wanheimerort und Hüttenheim direkt am Mannesmann Werk vorbei. Kurz vor Erreichen der Endstelle am Mannesmann Tor 2 gelang mir dieses Foto von TW 1032.

Well, hallelujah! I got out for the first time since October 1. I went to Ruth Bancroft Garden because I got an email from them showing about 30 species of plants that were flowering in January! This is my first January, and I was really surprised, so I had to go.

For the first time in eight months, my eyes focused (I've been having double vision - soon to be corrected at last we hope), at least while it remained overcast and my transitions lenses gave me an "automatic" - 2 for which I had to correct in the viewfinder.

I came away with about 20 images that are acceptable, even one of an Anna's Hummingbird that took me by surprise. And if this flower, one of 600 species of Saxifraga, isn't in focus, then we all have a problem. This species is native to the eastern Alps, but is found in Europe and North America so keep an eye out (1/4") unless, of course, you live in South America or Australia...

The red "berries" are not berries at all, but the hard bud that opens to bring us the five petals and a very intricate flower if you view large.

It was once again a tricky matter at the well-known pond near Ruderatshofen (Kirnach reservoir): does the swan family swim out of the picture? Does everyone stay together, or do they move too far away? When the TB 11 engine (12 V 956 TB 11) of the 218 414-1 was finally clearly audible, I knew that it would work - I was lucky!

As with #1, I was sitting in the sun room above the garage, and noticed some nasal tracings our Cairn Terrier Riley had made on the window, and how the late light rendered them colored, mainly blue with other colors in the background. A little Photoshop, and here we are: Riley imitating Jackson Pollack, pouring secretions instead of paint, on glass instead of canvas. This time, I was tempted to give it a title about monsters in deep space, but I resisted. I do hope you enjoy the image.

As I grow as a photographer I have realized that I needed to spend more time photographing in my "backyard" instead of dreaming and lusting for opportunities far away. I am lucky enough to live on the edge of the Shenandoah Valley and the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains as I am a stones throw next to West Virginia.

In years past in Autumn/Fall I would be venturing ALL over the place and putting hundreds of miles on my car on the weekends as West Virginia is home to places like Blackwater Falls State Park, Dolley Sods, Spruce Knob, and Babcock State Park to name a few. This places are beautiful, but I feel I need a break from them for a little bit because they are SO well photographed. So this year I made a decision to stay within a county of where I live and force myself down some back roads that I have not traveled in a long while and some never at all. I have found some wonderful treasures because fo this decision..and this is one of them.

On a morning in Les Petit Andely, France.

It was a cloudy and rainy day. The rain had stopped an hour before I took this, but it was still cloudy.

Rupit is one of the most beautiful villages in all Catalonia. In some ways it could be said that it's the perfect iconic image of rural Catalonia, and as such it has been used as a model or prop for hundreds of "pessebres" or nativity scenes, quite a tradition in Catalonia (some of which are true large dioramas that took a year to make).
