North Milwaukee

Clint Jones recorded a timeless scene: an operator hooping up orders to a train crew. This time it is a Soo Line freight operating on Milwaukee Road trackage leaving North Milwaukee, Wisconsin heading for home rails at Rugby Junction. The interlocking tower controlled the junction of two Milwaukee lines that split from the north end of Glendale yard. The year: 1965. Soo continued use of wooden cabooses into the early 1970s. Lake States Railway Historical Association and Mid-Continent Railway Museum are teaming up to present a new photo exhibition “Clinton Jones, Jr. (1944-2024): An Upper Midwest Icon of Shortline Railroading” beginning June 22 at MCRM’s Coach Shed #2 at North Freedom, Wisconsin.
