The Electroliner on display after participating in the 70th IRM anniversary parade yesterday! Note the headlight is on!

3012 is the second Electroliner to have worked route 111, having replaced 3016 out in the morning. Here it is seen on the Bath Road in Cranford heading towards Kingston.

Opposite the entrance to Napier University’s campus, Wright GB Kite Electroliner number 2e (SV26 OFB) is on its long and winding diagram from the Gyle to Ocean Terminal.

I wasn’t sure if this bus was going to stop here, given there was nobody waiting, and just a few minutes earlier my friend, creator of the Edinburgh bus simulator, Pete Angus arrived. I suddenly had a great idea.

I’m always nervous to take pictures with these new type screens and didn’t want it to break-up if the vehicle wasn’t stationary, so with a tiny bit of persuading Pete agreed to hailing the bus and asking the driver if he was going to Firrhill. He wasn’t of course, and I managed to get a few shots like this one. It wouldn’t have mattered as a lady alighted from the bus anyway. She had heard Pete ask the question and said she was also going to Firrhill, but Pete didn’t quite know how to respond to that!

Job done, that’s all that mattered, thanks Pete :o)

North Shore Line Electroliner 802-801 makes a stop at Edison Ct. Waukegan on it's next to last ever sprint to Milwaukee on the last full day of operations, 1/20/63. The fans were out getting their last shots on this bitterly cold below zero day. My parents and I were on this same train, in the last car for our final ride.

Not the best quality image (an Ektachrome dupe), but a classic scene; North Shore Electroliner rolling through Oakton Curve in Skokie. The North Shore was before my time- as a teenager taking pics of the CTA articulateds here in the 80's, this is of course what I thought of.

First day for Lothian’s new Wright GB Kite Electroliners and how superb to see so many photographers everywhere, focussing on a new bus fleet.

The nine single deckers are allocated to Service 36, running out of Central depot, and here is number 4e (SV26 OFD) leaving Ocean Terminal in the bright sunshine. It was lovely to meet Richard Walter, Michael Stuart and Gavin Booth, and also several youngsters snapping away on their first day of the school holidays.

Wright GB Kite Electroliner number 9e (SV26 OFK) races across the Dean Bridge, early on Saturday the 4th of July.

I wanted one of these here but with the new-style screens, and having to rethink the camera settings, this is a tricky shot to get in focus, and without the screen breaking up. Hats off to my Canon EOS 1200D and settings TV, 1/125 and 100 ISO which came up trumps today. I took ten consecutive shots and just this one worked.

The Dean Bridge was designed and built by Thomas Telford in 1831. It crosses the Water of Leith and the beautiful Dean Gardens below.

The splendid church has had a very varied life. Holy Trinity (free-Episcopal) Church was built in 1837-8 with its very original pinnacled profile. It is raised to the level of the bridge by a cloistral arcade like that of St. John's in Princes Street. In 1957 it was converted into an electricity transformer station and the South of Scotland Electricity Board removed the galleries and cast-aron arcades.

In recent years this magnificent Edinburgh landmark has reopened as an evangelist worshiping centre.

These tourists might have been better to turn around, and capture one of our new electrics on its very first journey!

New Low

Lothian’s brand new Wright GB Kite Electroliner 3e (SV26 OFC) was seen at Ocean Terminal finishing a 36 on its first day of service. They will be replacing all 7900Hs that were previously used on this service.

Personally I am not a big fan of this livery, such as the missing roundel of the logo, the lack of white at the front panel and the gold camera mirrors. But performance wise they are much comfier and smoother to ride on compared to the 7900Hs that are uncomfortable and rough.

A really special occasion. First straying onto R68 in the morning, then 490 in the afternoon and evening.

Genuinely at this point I have no hope for these Kites to get 490 blinds.

CNS&M's Electroliner

North Chicago Jct. - 1960

On the 25th of November, four of Abellio’s brand new electroliners (for the 111) entered service on an O2 event shuttle for the Railway Ball.

3020 can be seen whilst on stand at North Greenwich on the said evening.

The other electroliners out on the shuttle were 3002, 3026 and 3028.

59 years ago on 1/20/1963 we saw the last of the North Shore. Both of the Electroliners meet at Waukegan late in the game.

North Shore fans, does anyone recognize this photo? Who is the photographer?
