Der Kohlependel vom Kraftwerk Mumsdorf zurück zum Tagebau nach Profen hier auf der Flutbrücke bei Tröglitz. Die Brücke wurde leider beim letzten Hochwasser zerstört.
I'm a native Pennsylvanian, which means I am steeped in US History, whether I want to be or not. As a teen, admittedly, I had little appreciation for growing up in a place that seemed so entirely focused on the past. It was all I could do to join the Navy and see the world of today and tomorrow.
As I get older, I look back and wish I had appreciated the education about our past a bit more. When my parents were still alive, I visited PA as often as my hectic schedule would allow and, from time to time, took my family to places like this, where they could hopefully get an appreciation for the nostalgia that I was so quick to shun.
This is late autumn in Strasburg, Pennsylvania at the historic railroad where people get an opportunity to ride on passenger trains pulled by true steam engines like this one.

It was a very short, but brilliant, color season in northern New Hampshire this year. Everything went from blah to spectacular in a few days.

When I first arrived everything was in technicolour, however, once you go through the tunnel you go into black and white, I'm not kidding you. This picture is how you see it in SL, at first I thought my PC was broken but I look at my avatar and yep she's still in colour.
Come check it out for yourself, this image was taken @ Dreams Railroad by Fiona Fei.

New tracks are being laid, and a new station and mega-hotel are under construction here on Main Street. Grapevine will become a train-commuters' hub. (sigh) And it was such a quaint little prairie town only a decade or so ago. Time stands still for no man....or town.
Union Pacific SD40-2 3625 leads the westbound HKLA (Hinkle - Los Angeles) manifest westbound through Devils Gap at Uvada, UT on November 21, 1987.
*see large view!
When it sensed people's movements, it turned on a surveillance light and became as bright as daytime, so I had to shoot quickly.
Railroad to sunset. Saw an awsome sunset when i passed a railroad crossing. Just had to take out my camera and get a shot of it

I have a few granary and elevator shots on hand - so thought I would begin posting a few over next few weeks.
Please enjoy these huge towers often a centerpiece in the small farm towns scattered around Iowa.
