The Relay for Life covers the beginning of the annual Greek Week and was held at Stamps field next to the Campus Recreation Center (CRC).

WEA Write Now workshops are designed to help you achieve your writing goals. Whether you simply want to write for fun or you dream of becoming a published author, our expert tutors and authors can help you to develop as a writer and demystify the murky world of publishing.

On the 18th of May 2013, the WEA teamed up with independent publisher Myriad Editions to offer a day of creative writing classes at Omega Centre, Portsmouth.

10am–1pm: Masterclass: OPENINGS

Attention-grabbing opening lines are vital if you want your novel or short story to be read. Novelist Liam Murray Bell, author of So It Is, taught participants how to construct the perfect opening sentence.

2pm–5pm: Masterclass: HOW TO PLOT

Crime writer Lesley Thomson, author of A Kind of Vanishing (winner of The People’s Book Prize), helped participants decide between a plot- or a character-driven story, and showed them how best to make the plot work to reveal their characters and their stories.

One of my hard drives died, so I used the opportunity to re-purpose it as a photographic prop.

When I was a teenager (eons ago), we wore a midi blouse like this (sailor collar type) for C.G.I.T. -- A church group (Canadian Girls In Training). Loved that group & our church still has it for teen girls.

Several of you have put up pics of writing with light experiments. Well, here's mine - from 1981!

Write letterz n shit, yo.

Anche la tecnica si evolve: dall’ uso del semplice pennarello a punta larga a quello di vernici, colori acrilici, aerografi e soprattutto alle bombolette spray, simbolo più attuale dell’ Art-graffiti.

Lindlom writes of the occasion of the photograph: "There are no professional snake-tamers in Ukamba, but during the latter period of my stay in the country (1912) I came across several young men who had small snakes and took them with them when they strolled about (fig. 62). One of these young men came to me one day with two ‘uguluku’, a common small snake, which the Akamba say is poisonous, though as a matter of fact they say this about most snakes. He put their heads in his mouth, let them coil round his neck, etc. They showed the usual inertness of tame snakes, but one of them continually tried to get away, when their owner put them down on the ground. He said that he had given them 'medicine' and showed me two kinds of powder, one black and one white."
