I don't know why my camera is saying that my ISO was 1600 because I would have never set it that high and I'm pretty sure the picture wouldn't have turned out well.
Basically with this I was trying to think of a creative way to take a picture of my notebook because I like to write a lot. I write to calm my thoughts but I also like writing to people. I often write my friends cards for no reason at all. But I almost always write cards when I leave a place where I've made a lot of friends.
For this picture I focused on color contrasts between the pen and the notebook cover and repetition with the spirals. I wish I could have found a way to make the angle work better so that it would have worked with the rule of 3rds. But at least the pen which is the primary subject isn't completely centered.
sketching entry..."cheated" a bit by looking at what I was doing...but it was still fun to try sketching again! blogged at kandeland.typepad.com

Laura, 15, is learning to read and write in the Tihueliske Program for Women, and is doing well. A grade five student in formal primary school, Laura had never captured the basics of reading and writing, and thought it would never be possible. Now, Laura goes to primary school every morning, and attends Tihueliske three afternoons each week. She volunteers every Saturday as a nutrition promoter with Atzin in her village.
