This piece was finished 7/26/03, two weeks after my daughter had a radical bipolar experience which led her to be hospitalized for several weeks. Once again the peace sign emerges, this time from the hand of a parent.
Framed. Aphorism print - this saying is true, but very hard to believe.

Just before I laid my head on my pillow I had the urge to add to my "nightstand series,". I photographed all sorts of stuff but was unsatisfied. Having seen a few interesting photos of Bible's open on a nightstand I though I'd give that a try. I dusted off my Bible, opened it about midway, and put my eye to the viewfinder. The first thing that came into focus as I turned the focus ring was "Do Not Worry." I found that interesting because I have been worrying a lot about the current financial crisis and how it has been eroding the job market. I have a stable job as a postdoc, but I am looking to get out academia and into the industrial job market. I guess I'll be patient and thankful for what I have.

The environmental group I am involved with (The Green Sanctuary Committee) held our annual Fair Trade Sale at the Brookfield Unitarian Universalist Church this past weekend. We sell coffee, chocolate, teas and textiles and beaded goods from Central and South America. It is always a success, which is heartwarming to me.
As you can tell from my photos, my favorite things we sell are the fabulously colorful Guatemalan textiles...well, the chocolate, too.
This is a picture of a page in a book, not a hand. My son liked the story, about the boy worrying his worry dolls can't handle all his worries, and need worry dolls of their own. (And yes, my son realized this was going to become a never-ending problem, though that wasn't addressed in the book)

the only way to grow: play the cards you're dealt as if you know you're gonna win. also, take time to do something silly when life gets you down. doodle on an old envelope. watch a hilarious movie. you gotta take time to feel good amidst the storm.

I got an order for a set just before the smoking ban came in over here so as I was pregnant at the time, I thought a set would come in handy for after the baby was born. These ones are blue lampwork and small pewter beads - I wnat to make a set of amber ones later
...as I worry that missing people off can cause offence so please, please, PLEASE let me know if you want to be set to F&F! (If you are not already set as a friend of course! LOL)
This is only going to apply to a tiny percentage of my photos, mostly this will be the odd photo of my daughter etc etc so won't affect all my usual pics :)

Don't worry, she was enjoying herself. Really. We tried to pull her out and she just went back to attacking the bag. I think it might have been a terrorist.
