...nothing's worrying me...

These beautiful cows with their young ones were in a muddy field. They looked so glum ... I felt sorry for them. But they make a nice picture and so I painted them and told them we'd try to make them happier. Here's a wonderful piece of musical artistry for them (and you!) which I thought might help everyone who's finding the run up to the festive season not as joyful as they would wish. I hope my cows make you happier and the music as lovely as I find it.

Surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Poconos, is The Hooven Mercantile Co. building in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. It was established in Mauch Chunk in 1882 as a distributor of coffee, tea and spices and renovated in 1984 and most recently in 2016.

Today, the Hooven Mercantile building is a museum and the home of the Big Creek Vineyard. The original scale is built into the floor behind the winery’s bar. and is located in the heart of the historic district in downtown Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania.

I'm posting photos from my archive because I haven't gone out to take photos for two months... and counting.

Actually, to ease the concerns of those who, like myself, would be worried this dog was afraid/abused, I can only say she actually seemed quite happy. I think something caught her off guard just as I took this shot but that expression is what led me to playing around with the image, hoping to spark a story.

Worry dolls are small handcrafted dolls that originate from Guatemalan culture. They hold a special place in the tradition and symbolism of the Maya.

According to tradition, children (and adults) tell their worries or fears to the worry dolls before going to bed. The dolls are then placed under the pillow, and it is believed that they take the worries away or deal with the problems during the night.
