This little worry doll kicks around my classroom and shows up in an occasional photo. She even has her own Flickr set: www.flickr.com/photos/mrsdkrebs/sets/72157628838686227/
We celebrated a party with Hamid, an Afghan friend of ours who just finished finals. At the party some of the (American) girls decided they wanted their noses pierced. Our Afghan host produced a needle and thread.
(Don't worry, copious amounts of hand sanitizer were used...)
Every day is a good day if you use this tiny doll! Put this doll under your pillow during the day, and let her think all the worrying thoughts for you. Than, every night, before sleeping, put her in the jar...and have a good sleep! ^___^

This doll is totally handmade, with polymer clay, fabric, wool and 2 tiny bells.

The opening parade of the annual Saigon Cyclo Challenge with prizes for cheerleader teams as well as cyclo racers. I enjoyed watching people parade around a school running track in completely silly shoes.
The word this week is "worry." In my world, this simple cartoon can also be a metaphor. Interpretation is up to you... LOL! cartoon created in photoshop by Carla Barrett
Just came up with an insight that I think might be rich for you. It's about the distinction between worry and reflection. So many thought leaders counsel us to avoid living in the past. "Live in the now," they advise. "Enjoy the moment." Well, I get what they are saying. But isn't there something good about going back and delighting in the delicious moments of the journey we've arrived from? Which brings me to worry versus reflection? Whether to revisit the past - in my mind - depends on your intention. If your intention and reason to go back into your past is to dwell on bad things and to worry over things you cannot change and to rehash painful times, then I suggest it's an unhealthy act. But, if your intention - in going back in time - is to reflect on the lessons events have taught you and to grow in wisdom and to savor the precious memories that you were blessed enough to experience well then I think it's good. I guess what I'm inviting you to consider is that it's a waste of time to fret and regret over things you've done that cannot be changed, but that it's a fantastic use of time to bask in the good times, feel gratitude for them and use your past to serve your future rise. ---- Robin Sharma

A worrying chest/shoulder pain led to a referral to hospital this morning. After extensive tests, they said there was nothing to worry about and discharged me - I probably slept badly on it or something.
Still - I was glad for the reassurance :-)
Here I am, dumbly smiling and taking photos, whilst people look so stressed and worried.
From a walk around the new Totsukana shopping complex at Totsuka station. Many, many years went by before this came to fruition.

Lots of smoke coming from a Ferrari 288 GTO. The smoke went away after about a minute or so, but he got off at the next exit so I don't actually know what came of it. Fingers crossed...

Why Worry ?
Dire Straits - Why Worry?
Baby, I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do the things they say
But baby, I'll wipe away those bitter tears
I'll chase away those restless fears
And turn your blue skies into gray
Why worry
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Why worry now
Baby, when I get down I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
And all the isn't hard is the same
But baby, just when this world seems mean and cold
Our love comes shinning red and gold
And all the rest is by the way
Why worry
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now
Why worry now
A girl who works in the building just came back from a vacation in Guatemala and brought these worry dolls for me. It came in this little case with an instruction slip which reads:
"There is a legende amongst the highland Indian Village of Guatemala. If you have a problem, then share it with a Worry-doll. Before going to bed, tell one worry to each doll, then place them beneath your pillow. While you sleep the dolls will take your worries away."
Thea and I went back to Apples & Honey today, to help celebrate Judith's birthday shabbat in the sukkah outside. It was so lovely to be back, although slightly odd not to have Eli (or Megan) with us. Thea was thrilled with the sukkah, with all of the fruit and vegetables strung up around the walls and roof. She delightedly pointed out the apples, grapes and bananas (the three fruits she can say) and if she couldn't see anyone watching, she'd try to take a sneaky bite out of the nearest.
Eli is still struggling a bit with school - we seem to be settling into a pattern of him quite enjoying the day, bouncing out, but then beginning to worry about the next day almost immediately - so that by the time he's worried all afternoon, all night, and all morning, he's worked himself up into a state of huge anxiety by the time school starts. I took a short video of him straight after school yesterday, and showed him this morning how happy he'd been, but it wasn't enough to prevent another morning of him having to be prised, sobbing, off my legs by the teacher this morning. He'll get there. And hopefully soon. I'm just sad that he hasn't found it easier.
With Drone Slayer on the prowl we should really worry. The recession was over in June 2009 yet unemployment is 8.3 % and really over 10 % when you figure in those who have given up. A nightmare of epic proportions. Drone Slayer says great new jobs are on the way . Yep. The 824 billion stimulus was to build bridges ,roads and invest in the future.Instead fully half went to Medicaid and much more to Obama syncophants. Drone Slayer increases the national debt by more than 5 trillion in 4 years.Millions more on food stamps than ever. Every where you look there is more bad news on the economic front .These ladies are correct. We should worry even when Drone Slayer says the private sector is doing just fine.
All seemed lost till there appeared the blessed Worrier Saints who vanquished evil. Then men remembered the words of Ordovician, and lived in harmony and trust. But the waters are reclaiming our land, and we will soon be no more. For that reason we have told our story on stones for the eyes of those who are able and worthy to read it.
