This one of a series of books made from the paper I place on my worktable. They form a diary of marks related to the period of time they are in place. Some have dates, this one does not. The paper here is a commercially bought handmade paper, the front nad back covers have been coated in beeswax to give them some strength.
This paricular book contains rust marks.
It has a tape binding, so all pages will open flat, the tape used is naturally dyed silk which has then been made into silk string which wraps around the book and is tied to secure it.
The book can either be left as an artist's book or you can enter into a collaboration with me
by working into the pages

This is a project that I had on my mind (and worktable) for quite a long time! Thanks to Dal Lee, who encouraged me to show my Havoc, I finally got myself together to cut her hair and take the photos ; ).
For those who don't know, the original Havoc is a fashion doll from the Seventies and is closely related (not by blood but by manufacturing ; )) to Mary Quant's "Daisy". There are some great sites out there where you can find more info on the original doll.
I stumbled across the original Havoc many years ago and remembered her when Poppy Parker got into the "Lotta Danger" and "Girl from INTEGRITY" storyline. Since Lotta's arch enemy Sebina and her brother Sebastian are the Havoc siblings, it's pretty safe to think that David B. had Havoc in mind when her worked on Lotta.
To make it short: Havoc is a secret agent whose real name is not known and she works as a journalist (at least sometimes) while her true job is kicking the evil a**es all over the world. The backside of the doll packaging had some cool comics that showed Havoc in action and wow, this girl means business! She's great!
My own girl got a midnight blue lycra bodysuit with working zipper (completely sewn by hand, I went crazy with this outfit *lol*) and white boots. That's her standard battle suit. I made a 1/6 scale version of her pink shirt (from the motorcycle set), too, but haven't made the rest of the items yet (jeans, leather jacket and so on).
I'm not quite sure, if I want to make her more outfits based on her original ones, or not. The trehcncoat with red hat is iconic!
Big thanks go to my brother, who recreated the Havoc logo so I could complete the suit and to Dal Lee for giving me the needed push towards completing the project.

It has four convection ovens, ample refrigeration space, and microphone capabilities. Our culinary kitchens are outfitted with top-of-the-line equipment, including BlueStar ovens and ranges. In keeping with our philosophy of innovative education, we've designed special worktables that move easily around the kitchens and fit together to create a variety of configurations, from team islands to line simulations.
This is a brand new hands-on working kitchen. There are 3 moveable workstations as well as 4 sets of ovens, each with a set of 10 burners. Our culinary kitchens are outfitted with top-of-the-line equipment including Vulcan ranges, grills, salamanders and convection ovens, an Alto Sham combi-oven, as well as Traulsen refrigerators and Hobart mixers. Couldn't find her. Liberty is about 11 pounds of fur and fluff, and we live in a very tiny apartment - but I couldn't find her. I checked all the empty chairs under the table - all the closets, her favorite places in the windows, under the bed, behind the kitchen worktable, in her carrier - No Liberty. Then I looked under the table again and found her on the chair that held the rugs I'd just washed and the vacuum cleaner cover. She tells me I am not supposed to know where she is all the time. It's a cat thing, she says...

Built from reclaimed marble, recovered by reuse action (reuseaction.com) from a lavatory renovation in one of the Buffalo Public Schools. It was a stall partition, so a close inspection shows who loved who, and all sorts of school age nonsense scratched into the marble. We cut it down to size for the customer and left the markings in the marble as part of its charm. The legs, undercarriage and mounting brackets are all made of reclaimed house trim. The marble installed originally in the 1920s, most likely by Italian immigrant craftsmen. In this city the old wood work was done by Poles and Germans, while the stone work was done by the Italians. crafts they brought from their home countries. Without rescuing this material it (and its heritage) would be in the landfill.
Each piece we build is unique and imbued with history...and keeping materials out of landfills.

I wanted to find a way to use the small leftover pieces of wool that are piled up on my worktable. These are the pieces that didn't make it into a coaster set or in a runner. I decided to back them with the repurposed leather bits I have and make small sets of 2 display coasters. They are a great size (about 4" x 5.5") to use under a vase or small display item. I have several in action around my house right now...
Deep in the service wing, this storage room handled the floral and entertaining infrastructure that kept the upstairs rooms continuously dressed. The left wall is given over to open oak shelving stacked with copper and brass jardinieres, cachepots, and urns in graduated sizes — the working inventory for arranging cut flowers and potted plants throughout the house's reception rooms. Wicker baskets fill the upper shelves on the rear wall, used for everything from picnic service to garden harvesting. The tall paneled doors at right close off additional storage, their X-braced cross panels reading as a slightly rustic Arts and Crafts inflection on what's otherwise a strictly functional space. A central work table draped in a red gingham cloth holds a few potted herbs and serves as the staging surface where arrangements were assembled before being carried upstairs.
The composition is symmetrical and tunnel-like, with the shelving on the left and the cabinetry on the right framing a vanishing point that lands on the basket-laden rear wall. The ceiling fan and small clerestory window above pull the eye up briefly before it settles back on the central table. The palette is dominated by warm oak and the burnished gold of the copper vessels, with the gingham introducing the only sharp pattern in an otherwise softly lit interior. The light is even and low, appropriate to a windowless working room.

There are more bins of vitreous glass under the work table. My grinder is on a rolling cart so I can move it when I need it.
Patti wanted suggestions for her new scooter. Since it can go 9 mph, AND she (apparently) routinely DOES, (I mean, this crazy woman and her wheelchairs!!) we suggested a roll bar. Maybe even a cage. If not for *her* protection, then for the greater alert of those around her...
Sam enthusiastically recommends a light bar, mounted on said roll bar or cage. I think she needs a flame job and Neon Ground Glow. Inevitably, someone had to suggest hydraulics.
Of course, now that I've got my thinker going, with the kind of speeds she's clocking I wonder if a cow catcher might not be handy? Certainly a brush grill. (I'm not sure that's what it's called; it's that thing that makes a truck look like it's wearing orthodontics...) Or she could go old school and mount a pair of bull horns on it, to show for sure she means business!
