This is my workstation in the corner of a bedroom. The light in here is FABULOUS!

Claudia is taking a rest on the edge of my worktable. I’ve just finished the paniers. You may see the opening in the top of the paniers for the pockets.

That print on the wall is a poster that came with the liner notes for the vinyl copy of The Postal Service's album Give Up.

It's the cover art that Kozyndan (totally heart them) drew for the single "The District Sleeps Tonight" and I love it to bits and pieces because it basically mirrors my room. My bed is against the same wall with one nightstand on the same side. I've got tote bags hung about randomly and one long worktable with my sewing machine on it.

And yes, sometimes my room has me on the ground with a box of kleenex and my glasses off on the floor beside me, too.

Making gozleme

this is not staged and no, I'm not the least bit compulsive...lol...hmmm....

Welcome to SugarPlumDolls.com I think my cute clothespin dolls make fabulous Christmas ornaments or gifts BUT are now also available as greetings cards, postcards and more..Just to let you know all dolls are individually handcrafted clothespin dolls and make very special gifts or can be used as a holiday ornament. I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. You can shop for an actual doll online at www.etsy.com/shop/clothespindolls or visit me on YouTube at youtube.com/clothespindolls where I show you how to make your own Sugar Plum Clothespin dolls and other cute handmade items. Enjoy the day!

This worktable embodies the inspired moment of the early 1880s when international exoticism was grafted onto historical European forms to create something altogether new, with graceful proportions, artistic flair, and ornamentation at once luxurious and restrained. Constructed of purpleheart, the imported exotic wood that Schastey favored, its splayed legs and skirt exhibit a shimmering inlaid patterning of brass, pewter, and mother-of-pearl, which creates a scale-like design indebted to Asian and Near Eastern sources. This distinctive use of patterned inlaid metalwork is found in other examples of Schastey’s oeuvre. Beautiful and functional, the table’s top sides lift up to reveal satinwood interiors and the long central drawer pulls out to display a sewing box covered and lined in silk velvet.

Allowing a little time for me in the studio

Found a great worktable that I can attach my Foredom flexshaft too and have everything right there. Of course the drawers are packed and there is stuff underneath :)

Whatever the type of milling machines, all of the different types has the same features: interface columns, knees, saddle, worktable, spindle, arbor and machine tool. The interface is the information sources of the machine. It also is the place where CAD-related data can be downloaded. This allows for instructions to make the desired form. The column is the primary support, with a base that has the spindle attached to hold the arbor. The ram is adjustable and can slide between two positions, expanding its motion along the X and Y Axis. The column could also be used to contain additional components, such as reservoirs for coolant and oil. www.jtrmachine.com/cnc-milling-service.html

And trying out a new style of long dangle earrings, they have bitty puffed hearts. Packaging up orders, trying to clean, dealing with kids... and wishing I didn't have a headache. *pours another cup of coffee* ;)

Here are all four of the legs, taken to the same state of completion, and laid out on the floor, where I have put masking tape to indicate position, as per one of the drawings. While most of the cutting, drilling, and painting took place in the back bedroom, where my worktable is set-up (and, alas, where the photographs are), the assembly of the bear is taking place in the living room, where there is no furniture to speak of anyway. The bear adds character.

My messy work table at home.

The same table, as it looked when I bought it through Craigslist. It was somebody's pottery table.
