The Avani Cuisine Collection is composed around the moments that precede gathering" coffee brewing, ingredients prepared by hand, flowers clipped and brought indoors, the table not yet set but already anticipated. Anchored by an industrial worktable and layered with ironstone, terracotta, marble, and aged metal, it celebrates the quiet work of hospitality.

Some spaces are designed to fulfill a function. Others, besides being functional, seem to hold stories within their walls. This corner belongs to the latter category.
At first glance, the scene conveys a sense of creative calm. The large work table occupies the heart of the space, serving as a meeting point between inspiration and everyday life. It’s not a perfect or empty table; it’s a living surface, surrounded by plants, flowers, tools, books, and small objects that speak of someone who creates, imagines, and enjoys the details.
The natural light that gently enters through the window becomes another element of the decor. It doesn’t seek the spotlight, but rather to complement. It plays across the weathered wood, caresses the textures of the textiles, and casts delicate shadows on the rug, adding depth and realism to the overall effect. This soft, warm lighting transforms the room into a cozy refuge where time seems to slow down.
The walls tell their own story. Botanical illustrations, landscapes, and artworks create a personal gallery that connects the interior with nature. Each painting seems chosen not only for its beauty, but also for the memory, emotion, or inspiration it represents.
The color palette subtly complements this narrative. The green tones evoke tranquil gardens and spring afternoons, while the aged woods convey the feeling of a home built with patience and care. The plants scattered throughout the room reinforce the idea of a living space, where nature is not a decorative addition but an essential part of the experience.
The most interesting aspect of this environment is that it doesn’t try to impress through excess. Its charm arises from authenticity. The objects seem to have found their place naturally, as if each one had a function and a story to tell. This combination of order and spontaneity is what makes the space profoundly human.
In an era where many images strive for absolute perfection, this studio reminds us that true beauty is often found in the places where we live, create, and dream. It’s a space that invites you to sit with a cup of coffee, open a blank notebook, and let your ideas blossom at their own pace.
Because, ultimately, the best places aren’t those we simply observe. They’re those that make us imagine we could stay there for hours, creating memories as the afternoon light silently streams through the window.

Sunlight shines on a gizmo I found on my husband's worktable. Makes me happy to look at it.
Inspired by "MacroMondays" for "Redux 2017--My Favorite Theme of the Year"
I chose “Member's Choice: Made of Metal” —missed this theme this past year.
Thanks for looking and for a supportive year. Wishing you a good Bank Holiday!
Size of the toroid gizmo: 1.9 centimetres / .75 inch toroid
"Toroidal inductors and transformers are passive electronic components, typically consisting of a circular ring-shaped magnetic core of high magnetic permeability material such as iron powder or ferrite, around which wire is coiled to make an inductor. Toroidal coils are used in a broad range of applications in AC electronic circuits, such as high-frequency coils and transformers." Wikipedia
I've had her for quite some time and wasn't even sure if I should let her out, then I came to my senses and wrestled the box open in a jiffy.
She really is lovely, even if her body isn't as cooperative and pleasant as the active Sindy's from the 80s.
I won't cut out the worktable at present (sheet to the left) but it looks rather neat when assembled.
Before we actual enter a location you do some research on what kind of shots you can aspect. The risks I see following this behavior is the parts you may miss because you search for the bigger work. A lesson learned in photography and daily life is never skip details. Also give attention on the small things around you. In an instant you may discover something greats that results in a magic composition. Here I found some small tools and equipment in an industrial environment on a former worktable.
AI DeepDream Tex2Dream DDG Model ChatGPT Full
I dreamed about my studio ..... originally made on Nightcafe AI, but they won't let me enlarge it (claiming 'inappropriate' content) so I took it over to DeepDream and rendered the seed image with ChatGPT, which made it larger and sharpened it. No problem there. Finally I doubled the size again and made some color and contrast corrections with my own software.
Previously on Nightcafe, I needed to use Nano Banana to correct a third arm on one of the faeries in the painting.
What I found interesting is that the result of the artist looks surprisingly almost like me, even though I did not use my Selfie Lora.
PROMPT (was the same on Nightcafe and DDG):
Detailed painting putting the finishing touches on a Visionary Art painting chiaroscuro style of Caravaggio, dressed in black sweater and black wool cap, paintings all around, palette and brushes on a worktable beside the easel, image of magic realism with sacred geometry surrounded by faeries by Bosch, Alphonse Mucha, intricately detailed, hyperrealism, fantasy, Bogomils Universe - Renaissance frame - brass plaque on the bottom with gothic script text: The Mystic Artist at Work
My brother-in-law's workbench was immaculate before I started messing it up and rearranging his workroom for my shot. Luckily I got away before he got home.
Instalment #6 in Photos of Things That Are Not My Children. Or, Instalment #1 in Rooms In Our House. (Or, Installment #88 in I Like to Capitalize Many Words, Just For Fun.)
Before it belonged to S, I painted this room asparagus green and squeezed two desks, two bookshelves, and a worktable in here for my scrapbook studio space. It was crowded. When it got alarmingly claustrophobic, I finally moved all my scrap stuff into the basement and this space was transformed into a guest room of sorts with a small twin mattress and a desk built for a ten-year-old. Sadly, neither room transformation was photographed. Not that they were much to look at, but it sure would have been fun to see the changes.
Not long after C was born, S acquired this room for her very own. I'm still very fond of this bright green, so that didn't change, but we added a healthy dose of red because, really, who doesn't need a little color in their life? And the ladybugs? Those are for luck.
You can tell by the waiting Teddy that the owner of this room has only stepped out for a moment. Probably to go find some toys and dress-ups to scatter all over her freshly cleaned space...
(That vinyl rub-on is one of the only things up on the walls of this house. I have no problem painting loud colors all over my space, but it's become apparent that I have some issues committing to home decor beyond the paint. Something to work on this year.)
Cutting out felt for new projects. 320 pieces cut out freehand (no patterns, no machines, just my eyes, some scissors and lots of time!) for new mobiles ... and a few dozen more as well. The coffee table is under there somewhere :)
The mobiles look like this when finished:
All of these items were recently sent away in care packages to various people, but I wanted to snag a bit of photo documentation of my favorites before I shipped these away.
I hope their respective owners enjoy them! :)
I mean, honestly-- look at him! No discipline, no sense of organization. Who knows what sort of magical disaster is just WAITING to happen with such a cluttered worktable...

Found, that is, on my worktable and in my massive pre-cut images collection.
The challenge from the Kollage Kit blog this week was MERZ...creating a collage from found materials.
Since we recently went on a holiday and I emptied trash before we left, I had nothing in my workroom bin to rummage through. BUT I do have quite a collection of pre-cut outs AND the background you see is from a lovely book I found that features graphic designs from countries such as Italy, Poland, Japan, etc. and I have been meaning to do something with it and it was sitting on my worktable staring at me.
Now my lady and a violin (goodness knows how long ago I cut those two out) have finally found a home!

I finally got a counter-height worktable. It makes all the difference. I love it so much I want to sleep on it!!!
Remember my clean worktable? That was boring. The LaurenLand girls and Dean are supervising me working on my quilt : )
Sometimes these little wooden mannequins are useful for creating tiny versions of a costume to test an idea or demonstrate a silhouette. This set of four had been hiding under a worktable for a few years, still wearing remnants of felt costume samples from previous seasons. I borrowed them to make this little tableau. It made sense to arrange them on a sweep of brown kraft paper, both for the color and because it's what we use to make costume patterns.
Lighting: An SB-800 in a Lumiquest softbox camera right, and an SB-900 with a 2 stop ND gel and a 1/8" grid pointed at the background.
