im a crazy workerbee these days.. yay!

Welcome to SugarPlumDolls.com I think my cute clothespin dolls make fabulous Christmas ornaments or gifts BUT are now also available as greetings cards, postcards and more..Just to let you know all dolls are individually handcrafted clothespin dolls and make very special gifts or can be used as a holiday ornament. I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. You can shop for an actual doll online at www.etsy.com/shop/clothespindolls or visit me on YouTube at youtube.com/clothespindolls where I show you how to make your own Sugar Plum Clothespin dolls and other cute handmade items. Enjoy the day!

Odds and Ends on my worktable today. These are the artifacts which make my life curious.

Here I am sitting at Howard Carter's worktable listening to a wonderful audio guide explaining the discovery of the tomb. I am really quite strong as avatars go, therefore completely able to carry that pick axe under my arm with ease. ;=)

There are still places here that we haven't yet travelled. Watch for more pictures on our return trip to this amazing place, Heritage Key: King Tut Virtual.

a 5' x 2' x20" cargo chest I made out of red oak; and finished with 8 coats of marine spar varnish.

I specifically built it to fit my hitch-haul cargo carrier, to act as a cargo box on the back of my truck; but it also serves as a lockable tool chest in my outdoor woodworking area.

A quick sketch of my desk at work. There are tons of folders and stacks of papers. There's a fresh Pentalic watercolor sketchbook gotta fill up those pages. The entire sketch was done with a Copic Multiliner Pen in Black 0.3

There has not been much making/ creative time over christmas, and feeling a little sad about this I decided to tidy my work space in readiness for the new year.......it feels wonderful.......and I can't wait to get going!!

This is my favorite part of the workroom right now, love these colors.

Day 11

Please see the next photo for a truly entertaining look at the chuckwagon.

But following is some standard history:

Charles Goodnight, co-founder of the JA Ranch, invented the chuck wagon in 1866 when he bolted a wooden box with compartments onto the back of an Army surplus wagon. He covered the box with a hinged lid that—when opened and supported by a single leg—became a worktable for mixing dough or slicing beef.

Inside the compartmentalized pantry, Goodnight stowed kitchen staples and equipment, including cast-iron kettles, pots, and Dutch ovens, a coffee grinder and 3-gallon coffee pots. The wagon also held bedrolls, guns, medicine, kerosene lamps, branding irons, tools, firewood, whiskey (for "medicinal purposes"), and a 30-gallon wooden water barrel.

Chuck wagons quickly revolutionized the cattle industry and were used extensively along cattle trails until the advent of railroads, refrigeration and barbed wire in the early 1880s.

Measuring Annz and makeshift Licca dolly with Blythe head. (The poor pregnant Licca mama at the moment has no head.)

The first step was resizing the worktable to fit against the far wall. Since I didn't have a circular saw handy, I used an old fashioned HAND SAW. And look, it fits perfectly. The shelf on the bottom left will hold bottles of potions and trays. The area on the bottom right will be used for water storage.

Since there is no running water in the garage, I plan on building a system using a pond pump to bring water from a storage container on the floor through tubing up to the table. I have a similar system installed on my patio, hooked up to a timer, which automatically waters my plants twice a day. So they don't die. Because I'm not capable of dealing with watering them twice a day.

Also notice the swimsuit calendar.

I attached the buttonhole edge on points that I had prepared our first week. I clamped a binder clip on the point's border and suspended it by a push pin over the edge of my worktable. It reminded me of how my grandfather, a jeweler, would sit working at his jeweler's bench. So I think this piece is for Grandpa who also made a puppet theater and marionettes, which I have. I think I'm seeing a pocket in the future with a puppet tucked inside.

Again, my work table
