im a crazy workerbee these days.. yay!

A rare sighting of my favourite in all the world, my black smoke Siberian Forest Cat Jester. He dislikes being photographed unlike his sister who willingly models for me, hence the scarcity of photos of him.

This morning he was hanging around my worktable and I convinced him to sit on the white paper background. Unfortunately as you can see he is far bigger than my normal studio subjects.

I like this photo of him as I can see his quiet personality and intelligent interest and curiosity.

SIZE

He's not as big as was advertised, weighing in at 4.7kg at the last vet visit. Apparently Siberian Forest Cats are the second largest domestic cats in the world, and can weight up to 9-10 kgs.

The first step was resizing the worktable to fit against the far wall. Since I didn't have a circular saw handy, I used an old fashioned HAND SAW. And look, it fits perfectly. The shelf on the bottom left will hold bottles of potions and trays. The area on the bottom right will be used for water storage.

Since there is no running water in the garage, I plan on building a system using a pond pump to bring water from a storage container on the floor through tubing up to the table. I have a similar system installed on my patio, hooked up to a timer, which automatically waters my plants twice a day. So they don't die. Because I'm not capable of dealing with watering them twice a day.

Also notice the swimsuit calendar.

Welcome to SugarPlumDolls.com I think my cute clothespin dolls make fabulous Christmas ornaments or gifts BUT are now also available as greetings cards, postcards and more..Just to let you know all dolls are individually handcrafted clothespin dolls and make very special gifts or can be used as a holiday ornament. I think they add a personal touch to the holidays! It takes me about 2 to 3 days to make each doll. Each doll has her own personality. No two dolls are alike, some dolls may be similar but because of the handmade process each doll is unique. Some dolls may have slight imperfections in the wood, but aren't we all a little less than perfect! Each doll arrives on my worktable as a blank slate. After I draw on the face, paint the hair and body, then I glue the head to the body then wait a day for the paint and glue to dry. I have a treasure trove of fabric and tulle and I begin to craft an outfit and accessories for each girl. I hope you will enjoy your visit here. You can shop for an actual doll online at www.etsy.com/shop/clothespindolls or visit me on YouTube at youtube.com/clothespindolls where I show you how to make your own Sugar Plum Clothespin dolls and other cute handmade items. Enjoy the day!

delta dp 220 drill press circa 1940's. got this old machine from uncle steve (thanks!). got started on restoration project this weekend. worktable has already been removed, as had pulley guard and motor mount.

Socks for my favorite daughter...

Short attention span?

Form of ADD?

Summer fibes?

Lack of finish-what-you-started-attitude?

BTW: worktable is covered with handmade art journals, rubber stamps, glue, scissors, old magazines, ink, pens and duct tape. So, everything is pretty normal around here...

Study for the back. I ended up going with much darker fabric to reference the black depths the foreclosures have had on neighborhoods.

Blogged here.

This is a cool table/sewing box that was kindly given to me by my parents-in-law. It belonged to both of their mothers at various times so I was really touched to be given it. Plus its cool and useful, excellent!

This is the worktable folded and parked under the bench.

Most of this was lying on the worktable, too. Quel mess! Rhino's are wonderful creatures.

Underneith worktable is stored dremel stuff, paper towels, some pre-made polyclay pieces and lots of drips on floor mat!

Jun-Li organized a big T-shirt decorating party after lunch, bringing pigments and some stamps from St Paul. All we did was feed her and provide some empty T-shirts to paint.

Ladies' work table for sewing and a squat little chair for sitting in while wearing your bigpoofy skirt.

My DH, Andy, putting up the last panel of wall board on the daylight wall. He does such a good job with every project he tackles. Doesn't always happen as quickly as planned, but is always done well.

hummmm...beginning to think that maybe my worktable shouldn't go back against the wall.....

This mess is the BEFORE of my basement studio. Shown here is the main worktable where I clay and bead. So much has accumulated over the past 2 years. But this all needs to be moved out so that DH can build 2 more walls for cabinets.

this one is counter height, and we can stain it to match the cabinetry and use hardware that also matches the cabinets. lots of storage space. made of parawood - from a type of rubber tree - comparable to maple in hardness. it's $695.

Today I got a helping hand and was quite productive. Lots of bead bases rolled up, the blends for that lavender (rose and daisy from that), for the butterfly in progress and the 10-petal daisy that has already been reduced.

From the extremely talented katz, all the way from Hong Kong. Happily living on my worktable lamp, making sure I don't do anything stupid.

Claudia is taking a rest on the edge of my worktable. I’ve just finished the paniers. You may see the opening in the top of the paniers for the pockets.

19131 “Laundry Ironing Room” – Battleship North Carolina, #1 Battleship Rd., Wilmington, New Hanover, NC. May 12, 2017. Decimal degrees: 34.234955, -77.953337

“Laundry Ironing Room”

“The Laundry Ironing Room offered the following pressing services:

Offices’ uniforms

Sick Bay linen

Officers’ Mess linen (tablecloths and napkins)

Chief Petty Officers’ Mess linen (tablecloths and napkins)

Barber’s shirts

Cooks’, Mess Cooks’, and Baker’ uniforms, hats and aprons

Marine Detachment khakis

Steward’s Mates’ uniforms

Pressing was not a free service. The charge was included in the monthly ‘finished service’ fee that officers, mess cooks, bakers, galley cooks, and chief petty officers paid.

Ordinarily, the enlisted crew’s uniform were not pressed. Special circumstances such as arrival in port permitted the whites of boatswain’s mates, the gig crew, quartermasters, drivers, and petty officers first class to be pressed. On occasions, enlisted men could get their uniforms pressed if they knew someone working in the ironing room. Wallace Adkins recalls ‘pressing a pile of uniforms at a dollar each’ even traded services with the cooks for food. Otherwise pressing meant using your own iron on a makeshift ironing board, such as pea coat lockers, or in underneath your mattress and sleeping on it.

The mangler was used to iron flatwork such as tablecloths and linen. The stainless steel worktable is a seam dampener. Laundry bins were stored under the ventilation blower. The three ‘Press Type D’ and collar and cuff presser are to your left. The tear drop form in the middle of the compartment was used for ironing officers’ covers (hats).”

From the studio expansion project of winter/spring 2006. new and old turntables, new worktable, old records.

As I've been making my daily collections, I've been pushing the objects aside and making the next one. This has made my worktable a wonderful MESS.

The side stitch project. This is the first piece in a new daily sewing project I'm working on with artist, Kitty Kilian. See here for the blog: kathrynclark.blogspot.com/p/side-stitch.html

Built from reclaimed marble, recovered by reuse action (reuseaction.com) from a lavatory renovation in one of the Buffalo Public Schools. It was a stall partition, so a close inspection shows who loved who, and all sorts of school age nonsense scratched into the marble. We cut it down to size for the customer and left the markings in the marble as part of its charm. The legs, undercarriage and mounting brackets are all made of reclaimed house trim. The marble installed originally in the 1920s, most likely by Italian immigrant craftsmen. In this city the old wood work was done by Poles and Germans, while the stone work was done by the Italians. crafts they brought from their home countries. Without rescuing this material it (and its heritage) would be in the landfill.

Each piece we build is unique and imbued with history...and keeping materials out of landfills.

Found these tools scattered on the worktable at the dam's controller room in matrkundiya, udaipur. not everyone works in a swany office and has expensive tools to do their job.
