Without a doubt one of my favorite natural elements are volcanoes, during this time I was able to marvel at their majesty and the presence they impose on the environment.
Observing the Milky Way from above in one of them is an unforgettable experience.
We can see the Osorno volcano aligned with the Milky Way next to the galactic center, on the edges we can see the airglow, warning of a storm in the area.

as the story goes, i was without a car this particular evening but every vibe told me that something very unique was about to happen this evening. luckily a friend had some time to shoot out with me but he could not make it until half an hour later than what i would have liked to get to the location at treasure island. we were coming from way across the city to get to this locale. another friend bryan had called to ask where i would be and we agreed to meet at ti also. what we did not anticipate was the super TRAFFIC that would make us miss the beginning of this gorgeous sf burn. luckily bryan was there to capture what we missed.
we were still on the street driving from the san francisco side when we could see through the sun roof a spectacular burn in waves of bellowing clouds when our jaws dropped to the ground and our stomach sank as we looked at each other in amazement
that we were going to miss the burn of the year,or so it seemed at the moment!=)
the interesting thing was that the cloud formation was so full that even after the initial burn there was enough material overhead and the clouds at the horizon was perfectly placed that the clouds just smoldered for what seemed like eternity as we watched its glow over the city. fortunately we made it for the last light as the sky smoldered in crimsons of red. i have since seen a good share of fiery skies from this view but none that took me through such peaks of emotion from lows to highs and walking away with the feeling of witnessing something surreal and magical.
i hope you will enjoy!

My Most interesting photos for a guy called Isaias
My Interviews with my Flick Friends!
.
The Phi Phi Islands (Thai: หมู่เกาะพีพี) are located in Thailand, between the large island of Phuket and the western Andaman Sea coast of the mainland. Phi Phi Don, the larger and principal of the two Phi Phi islands, is located at [show location on an interactive map] 7°44′00″N, 98°46′00″E. Both Phi Phi Don, and Phi Phi Leh, the smaller, are administratively part of Krabi province, most of which is on the mainland, and is located at [show location on an interactive map] 8°02′30″N, 98°48′39″E.
Ko Phi Phi Don ("ko" (Thai: เกาะ) meaning "island" in the Thai language) is the largest island of the group, and is the only island with permanent inhabitants, although the beaches of the second largest island, Ko Phi Phi Lee (or "Ko Phi Phi Leh"), are visited by many people as well. There are no accommodation facilities on this island, but it is just a short boat ride from Ko Phi Phi Don. The rest of the islands in the group, including Bida Nok, Bida Noi, and Bamboo Island, are not much more than large limestone rocks jutting out of the sea.
Phi Phi Don was initially populated by Muslim fishermen during the late 1940s, and later became a coconut plantation. The Thai population of Phi Phi Don remains more than 80% Muslim. But the actual population if counting laborers, especially from the north-east, from the mainland is much more Buddhist these days.
Ko Phi Phi Leh was the backdrop for the 2000 movie The Beach. Phi Phi Leh also houses the 'Viking Cave', from which there is a thriving bird's nest soup industry. There was criticism during filming of 'The Beach' that the permission granted to the film company to physically alter the environment inside Phi Phi Islands National Park was illegal. [1] The controversy cooled down however, when it was discovered that the producers had done such a decent job of restoring the place that it finally looked better than it had done before.
Following the release of The Beach, tourism on Phi Phi Don increased dramatically, and with it the population of the island. Many buildings were constructed without planning permission.[citation needed]
Ko Phi Phi was devastated by the Indian Ocean tsunami of December 2004, when nearly all of the island's infrastructure was wiped out. Redevelopment has, however, been swift, and services like electricity, water, Internet access and ATMs are up and running again, but waste handling has been slower to come back online.

My exhibition ended safely without any accident.
Thank you very much.
I write every year.
Safety must be achieved not only by the Design Festa staff, but also by the cooperation of all the visitors.
Protect so many exhibitors. For that purpose, each cooperates.
This venue itself is a big piece.
I always feel that way.
All the visitors. Everyone of the Design Festa.
I am grateful from the bottom of my heart.
Thank you very much.

Two works were to be sent to women of art university this time.
Art college students have a deep interest in viewing works.
Also, I think they are not aware of them, but their eyes are clear.
Seeing the sparkling eyes, I am cheered.
Please do not forget your eyes forever.
No matter how old you are, the brightness of your eyes will not decline.
I have always written.
"I'm glad if my photo can support your day. "
The feeling does not change from now on.
See you well again.
At this place.

About my book.
I published a book in old days.
At that time, I was uploading my interview on the net on the net.
That Japanese and English.
I will make it public for free.
Details were explained to the Amazon site.
How to write a novel.
How to take pictures.
Distance to the work.
They all have a common item.
I made a sentence about what I felt, and left it.
I hope that my text can be read by many people.
Thank you.

U2 - No Line On The Horizon Live in Dublin
www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oKwnkYFsiE&feature=related
There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.
One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.
The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine
quietly.
Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.
I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.
That is the meaning of a rebirth.
I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.
After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After
she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies
until I realized it is love?
I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the
daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.
I had been thinking about such a thing.
However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see
something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable
tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.
Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

About work production 2/2
1 Photo exhibition up to that point. Did you want to go?
2 Well, what is an exhibition that you want to visit even if you go there?
3 Challenge to exhibit one work every month before opening a solo exhibition at the Harajuku Design Festa.
4 works are materials and silhouettes. Similar to fashion.
5 Who is your favorite artist? What is it? Make it clear.
6 Creating a collage is exactly the same as taking photos. As I wrote in the interview, it is the same as writing a novel.
7 I want to show it to someone, but I do not make a piece to show it. Aim for the work you want to decorate your own room as in the photo.
8 What is copycat? Nowadays, it is suspected to be beaten. There is something called Mimesis?

It is a flow of.

To see life in black and white, without any nuance, or to polarize subjects and ideas, is to deny the richness and complexity of the world around us. This simplistic vision is in total contradiction with the way we perceive reality: a magnificent world, teeming with thousands of colors and innumerable nuances. Even in black and white, a multitude of grays intertwine to reveal subtleties. No one is ever completely right or wrong. Everything is nuance, and it's in these nuances that the true essence of life lies.

Chapada Diamantina is a region of Bahia state, in the Northeast of Brazil.
The Chapada Diamantina is at the center of Bahia state, in the Northeast of Brazil. It is the septentrional zone of the Espinhaço Range, has approximately 38,000 km2 (15,000 sq mi) and encompasses 58 municipalities. Technically it is considered part of the caatinga biome, and is the highest area in this biome, almost all of it over 500 m of altitude. The vegetation, always conditioned by the physiographic conditions, is represented by the cerrado, rocky fields, forests and caatinga, all of them harbouring great biodiversity and endemisms. The regions climate is considered to be Mesotermic, of the Cwb according to the Köppen classification, and is quite cooler than the surroundings, with annual averages under 22 °C. But usually, considering the area currently used as tourism destination, one think of Chapada Diamantina as the region roughly between the cities of Mucugê (S 13°, W 41° 22’) at the South, Andaraí (S 12° 41’ 26’’, W 41° 19’ 36’’) at the Southeast, Lençóis (S 12° 33’, W 41° 43’) at Northeast and Palmeiras (S 11° 9’, W 42° 3’) at Northwest. This region is named the Serra do Sincorá Ridge. Notwithstanding, the city of Ibicoara, near the southern limits of Chapada Diamantina, is also becoming important. The Sincorá Ridge is North–South oriented and has a length of 160 km and 20 to 30 km of width. The breathtaking landscape, its huge canyons with rivers of brownish waters, the high altitude grasslands, known locally as Gerais, innumerous waterfalls and a great extent of trails, once used by miners in their search for diamonds, makes it one of the best destinations in the country for the practice of outdoor activities. At the city of Lençóis, one of the most important, one can find quite a few ecotourism agencies as well as independent guides ready to organize tours through the region. Maybe Chapada Diamantina is the best destination for the practice of trekking in the country. Among the main attractions are the Morro do Pai Inácio (Pai Inácio Hill), Cachoeira da Fumaça, Mixila Waterfall, Sossego Waterfall and the Vale do Pati which is considered the best trekking destination in the country. Rock climbing is a relatively new activity, but is developing quickly as some local and outside climbers are opening more and more sport and traditional routes, mainly at the city of Lençóis and at Vale do Capão, district of Palmeiras and at Igatu, district of Andaraí. Lençóis, one of the main cities is 420 km from Salvador and can be reached by car, bus or plane. Another important city is Iraquara. It has a lot of caves, where prehistoric rock art and other evidence of primitive life are found. For this reason, Iraquara received the nickname "City of Caves".
In 1985, the Chapada Diamantina National Park was created with its headquarters in Palmeiras.
Chapada Diamantina is an erosional landform in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The Chapada Diamantina runs from North to South in the middle of Bahia and is an extension of the Espinhaço Range System. The rocks in the system date back to Pangaea and erosion of the formation began in the Precambrian eon. The Range System has an erosional outlier that exposes a contact, the Pai Inácio Anticline. The Pai Inácio Anticline is 25 km wide and exposes the sedimentary rocks of the Paraguaçu group. At the contact there are two different rock groups exposed one being the Chapada Diamantina and the Paraguaçu, with the Chapada Diamantina overlaying the Paraguaçu group. The two rock groups not only in elasticity but in composition as well. The Chapada Diamantina is composed primarily of sandstone, pelites and diamond bearing conglomerates. The Paraguaçu is composed of fine-grained sandstones, siltstones and argillites. The rocks of the Paraguaçu are softer and therefore more suceptible to weathering and folding. It is the folds in the Paraguaçu that allows for the entry of water into the rock’s structure which in turn is responsible for the erosion.

Books are one of my favorite things. I love the feel of the paper, I like certain fonts better than others, sometimes I buy a book because I love the cover! (I know, I know...) but most of all, I simply love getting lost in the stories. I don't know where I would be without them. This particular book was bought from a vintage shop in Paris (the copyright date is 1929 and back then it cost 10 francs!).

This was how I rolled in early 2012.
I remember the time and place and events very vividly.
Being a traveling tranny is not without it's complications especially when your mode of travel is air. I mean how much can you get in one bag and will my spiked heel puncture my boobs and will those pesky TSA baggage inspectors take a peek inside and make a note of the name on the claim tag and use it to blackmail me in the future. In any event I don't really worry about that stuff I just hope I get their safe and all my visual aids arrive with me.
On this particular night I was in the last training week for my 30th Marathon and I had arrived early and taken a 6 mile run rushed to get a shower and get ready for whatever was to come. I had a great spacious room with a few nice appointments like artificial plants, leather pillows and wine glasses. Believe it or not it was a Hilton Property. Leather pillows? So I got dolled all sensible like, looked at myself in the mirror and was pleased and confident. I made my way out in search of a healthy drive thru and settled on baja fish tacos from Baja Fresh. The girl at the window seemed confused by the name on the AMEX not matching the face in the car. I assured her it was me and my parents named all the girls with boys names including my sister Frank. She handed me food with a smile and I drove back to my spacious room. I really wanted to go out and be seen but it was getting late and I decided to t snap a few pics and call it a night.
Another challenge of being an air traveling transvestite is being prepared. This particular trip I had everything I needed except something to remove my french nails. Having an early morning meeting the option to leave them on was really no option at all. Oh well I guess I'll be seen after all. I had noticed a Walgreens earlier so I made my way to it. Park car, take deep breath, purse on shoulder go inside. I walked in and an older lady asked "can I help you find anything?" (Now I need to stop for a second and explain, I've been out and about many many times dressed as a woman, most times if I just act normal no one seems to notice me If I have to speak well sometimes I can pass sometimes I don't but it takes a lot of concentration and is not second nature for me.) I answered "acetone" "I'm not sure what that is" I answer back "it's for removing fake nails!" "Oh yes" she directed me and we walked together me in flat sandal still 3 heads taller than her. She then said to me "they're so pretty, why do you want to take them off?" I just looked at her and said "you really don't know do you?" "Know What?" "well I'm not a woman" she just stared at me for a while and finally realized what I had said to her. "Oh My God, I would have never known" I wanted to hug her. She was so sweet and complimentary when others may have just been happy to get me out of the store and be done with my perverted foolishness but she thought I was in her words a Doll. It didn't end there, she wanted to show me off to Karen in the Pharmacy a tall leggy brunette. She was bubbly and almost flirtatious and asked If she could take a picture. I told her only if she was in it too. Inez the sweet little lady took our picture together with Karen's phone and I'm sure within seconds of leaving the store my picture was plastered all over Karen's Social Network.
All in all it was a fun evening.
This would be my contribution to throwback Thursday.

For The Rogue Players and One Day Without Shoes.
I love being barefoot, but honestly until just now I hadn't realized what a luxury it is to choose when to go without shoes. It was very cold outside when I took this photo, and after walking around in my backyard for less than ten minutes I could barely take the pain of the cold any longer. After spending the past three weeks barefoot in warm weather, creating this photo on this day for this group and cause was truly eye-opening.
Please check out the website and the cause if you have a moment.

...Everything I know, and anywhere I go
It gets hard but it wont take away my love
And when the last one falls
When it's all said and done
It gets hard but it wont take away my love
I'm here without you baby
But you're still on my lonely mind
I think about you baby
And I dream about you all the time...

A person once told me that crying without tears is the worst form of crying. And they were right- because the weeping of the soul hurts so much more and no one can console you because no one can see, and even if they can they do not reach its tremendous depth.
This is a tribute to all those who have felt the anguish of tearless sobs and broken spirits. May God guide you through it, and may those you love be there for you when the tears start to fall and every moment after.
“Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.”

There's no doubt about it...
I miss my gear.
I went out last weekend without my D300 and the 35mm 1.8 lens that's pretty much always affixed to it and I felt naked... I felt like I was missing something... it was an odd feeling really.
It'll be a while before I can go on 'Soul-Patrol' and bring back some shots to share with you.
I gotta feeling that everything's gonna work out just fine.
Being a 'cameraless person' has kind of led me to do some deep thinking about what photography means to me... 'my' photography... what it's meant to me in the past... maybe what it's always meant to me...
Photography has been nothing short of a journey for me... I've done it for so many reasons... I've thought about it in different ways... but it's one thing that's always been a part of my life.
In college I shot medium format film... all black and white... using a Mamiya 645 and a Mamiya C330 twin lens reflex camera... the finest film camera I've ever owned.
I picked up a 35mm Minolta 7700 in Japan when I was a student there.
I've loaded my own 35mm film and developed it and printed it in my own darkroom, a bathroom with a towel shoved under the door... my first digital camera was a Sony Mavica... a 2 megapixel deal where you used 3.5" floppy disks to store your images.
I've taken some cool shots with it and a range of point and shoot cameras.
The Nikon D70 was my first DSLR... and it was kind of a dog... I didn't like the color rendition... the tiny screen on the back sucked... and sometimes it just wouldn't shoot a frame if it didn't think it was right.
I hated that.
The camera and I fought really... it said 'no' and I said 'go.'
It always won.
But when I got my hands on a Nikon D300... that's when everything caught fire.
Nothing before could ever come close to comparing to what that camera and I could do together.
Like everyone I've used photography to document the moments in my life that I thought were worth documenting.
I rarely share those pictures.
If my photography had a theme in the beginning... it was that there was beauty everywhere.
I tried to take pictures that showed that.
Just having the camera in my hand made me look for beautiful things to shoot.
Color and light caught my eye.
This picture was one of the first shots I took with my D300 and it's color rendition was spot on.
It's my favorite color picture I've ever taken I think... at least in my top five.
The D300 is the first camera I've ever shot with that saw color like I did... SOOC even.
And it captured the intricacies of the light that attracted me to photograph things.
That excited me... to have a camera that saw it the way I did, without any adjustment or processing.
It gave me images that were to me much more real than anything I'd ever produced with any other camera, film or digital.
I fell in love with that D300.
I wanted every piece of glass that Nikon made.
I shot something like 1.4 million frames with that camera.
Most of them not even noteworthy.
But every once in a while... every thousand shots or so things would line up just right.
I'd be staring at a shot that took my breath away.
Color and light were the focus of my personal photographic drive.
2010 was a terrible and painful year in my life.
My world was shattered and my soul took a grave hit.
Sometimes I'm suprised that I survived it.
My photographs from that time were introsepective and they got darker.
Those images helped me to deal with what turned out to be the greatest crisis in my life.
I made it through that crisis and towards the end of 2010 I was looking forward to living a new life.
The future was looking good.
I was much more open to the world.
I began to explore it and myself... looking for my place in it all I suppose.
My excitement for life and living returned and you can see it in the images that I posted... there was this 'transition' where I went from documenting the beauty of the world as I saw it, to examining myself and my place in it.
I shot some self portraits... and though they were of little artistic merit, they had a pretty profound effect on me.
It was like I was looking at a stranger when I looked at those pictures... only a 'stranger that I knew intimately' if you can understand that.
Something deep inside of me was bubbling to the surface because of it.
By April of 2011 I'd seen much of myself, my life and my surroundings portrayed in images that I shot.
Then something made me turn the camera on other people.
I began to shoot strangers.
I started shooting people on the street.
The effect on my soul was immediate, it was deep and it was broad.
It was real.
I witnessed this 'revolution in my soul' and I couldn't begin to detail it here... but it was nothing short of a revolution.
It changed me as a human being.
It opened my eyes to a world of reality that either I'd never seen before or that I just didn't notice.
I connected powerfully and meaningfully with that world through the lens.
The future is a book unwritten I'm sure.
But in my personal journey through life with a camera... I was certain that in the 'now', on my own photographic journey, that I'd found my destination.
This was where it all came together.
This was where I belonged.
It's a place where the world, the camera and I exist in this perfect harmony.
As if it was everything that was ever supposed to be.
I am certain that I'll have another camera in my hands soon.
But in the meantime, I've really enjoyed, and profited immensely from examining what it all means, what it's all meant to me.
I have no doubt at all that when the time is right and I've got a new camera to shoot with that I will take some incredible and meaningful pictures.
The time I've had to abstain from capturing those moments...
That time has only made me appreciate everything about 'my' photography more...
On such a deeper level.
I so look forward to hearing the sound of that shutter again.
I will savor the moment, the light, the reality around me and my ability to capture it like never before.
The moment will never be taken for granted by me again.
Every moment will mean something.
Looking back, I can see from the images that I've created how my life has changed.

Latin name: Branta sandivensis - Hawaiian Geese or Ne-ne
Taken on our trip to Pensthorpe Nature Reserve in Norfolk.
This is a species of goose endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. The official bird of the state of Hawaiʻi, the nene is exclusively found in the wild on the islands of Oahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, Molokai, and Hawaiʻi.
The Hawaiian name nēnē comes from its soft call. The specific name sandvicensis refers to the Sandwich Islands, an old name for the Hawaiian Islands.
It is thought that the nene evolved from the Canada goose (Branta canadensis), which most likely arrived on the Hawaiian islands about 500,000 years ago, shortly after the island of Hawaiʻi was formed. This ancestor is the progenitor of the nene as well as the prehistoric Giant Hawaiʻi goose and nēnē-nui (Branta hylobadistes). The nēnē-nui was larger than the nene, varied from flightless to flighted depending on the individual, and inhabited the island of Maui. Similar fossil geese found on Oʻahu and Kauaʻi may be of the same species. The Giant Hawaiʻi goose was restricted to the island of Hawaiʻi and measured 1.2 m (3.9 ft) in length with a mass of 8.6 kg (19 lb), making it more than four times larger than the nene. It is believed that the herbivorous Giant Hawaiʻi goose occupied the same ecological niche as the goose-like ducks known as moa-nalo, which were not present on the Big Island. Based on mitochondrial DNA found in fossils, all Hawaiian geese, living and dead, are closely related to the giant Canada goose (B. c. maxima) and dusky Canada goose (B. c. occidentalis).
Did you know: Its strong toes have much reduced webbing, an adaptation to the lava flows on which it breeds.
Taken with my Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5.6-6.3 Di VC USD A011 Lens and framed in Photoshop.
