I hope to work a little more on my macro skills this year, I have none!! Here is one of many Wildflowers that complement our wild animals.

Spring is in the air and these Toms were strutting their stuff for the ladies. They kept gobbling and jostling for the attention of about 8 females in the area.

Thank you for visit and watching

It finally bloomed this morning !

.

and we are due for a big wind storm here later today .

The light was just right to get the seeds sharp and not over-expose the petals.

Also, called Common Sunflower, Helianthus annuus. Pedals are wider and larger than blackeye Susan and seeds are looser.

One of the things that makes the Galápagos so extraordinary is how wildlife feels like it belongs—and you’re just a quiet visitor passing through.

You might find yourself drifting alongside a sea turtle as a school of fish scatters in the blue. Or watching a marine iguana bask in the sun before launching into the surf like a miniature dragon. Sally Lightfoot crabs scurry like living jewels over the lava rock, while giant tortoises lumber through the highland forests

I've highlighted some of the amazing birds in previous posts. In the Galapagos, it's about wild, ancient life in all forms—and being able to witness it up close in a place that still has a primal feel.

If you've been dreaming of an adventure like this, booking is now open for May 2027!

I have been watching Nick Page's youtube videos this week - one especially inspired me, youtu.be/lgp3SReMi1A?list=PLQ9T4QOz_BgwGRbsTT5eupeA-ambeO6EC on capturing waves. So in the rain and misery of Sunday afternoon I popped down to Bray beach. It was cold and the rain was horizontal, mainly off the sea into the camera lens. Here is only one of a couple of non-blurry, raindrop splattered images.

DoodlewashNovember2025 prompt: Feathers. I decided to go with the whole bird and not just the feathers!

Did you know in the majority of bird species, their feathers are in rows called feather tracts, including turkeys? They have 8 tracts divided into around 100 groups. The bird can move the feathers using nerves and muscles that are connected to each group.

A large Brown Stink Bugs (Euschistus) (at least 1/2 in long) on Leafy Spurge flowers. Neighbourhood, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. 27 May 2023

If it did feed on the Leafy spurge then it's helpful!

One thing that all the Euschistus spp. have in common, besides being brown, is a vague, barely visible dark patch in the center of the scutellum and a smaller matching spot on each upper wing half. Rear tibia grooved above:

Made Explore, thanks all!!

Decided to go for a walk this morning over Cannock Chase. I managed to get the loan of a vehicle. My son had a bad accident yesterday in my car, he is fine, so is his mate, God knows how, but the car it a complete write off.

Anyway I enjoyed my walk in the mist and rain and its cleared my head.

Photographed near Powell River, B.C. Canada.

I saw these wild flowers on side on hill. The purple shading is sun hitting on the white petals of the flower.

On my way to the office on my new vintage bike I saw this poppy on the side of the road growing wildly through the fence, took a brave moment to capture this, but it was so beautiful it had to be done HFF
