I have been watching Nick Page's youtube videos this week - one especially inspired me, youtu.be/lgp3SReMi1A?list=PLQ9T4QOz_BgwGRbsTT5eupeA-ambeO6EC on capturing waves. So in the rain and misery of Sunday afternoon I popped down to Bray beach. It was cold and the rain was horizontal, mainly off the sea into the camera lens. Here is only one of a couple of non-blurry, raindrop splattered images.
DoodlewashNovember2025 prompt: Feathers. I decided to go with the whole bird and not just the feathers!
Did you know in the majority of bird species, their feathers are in rows called feather tracts, including turkeys? They have 8 tracts divided into around 100 groups. The bird can move the feathers using nerves and muscles that are connected to each group.

I saw these wild flowers on side on hill. The purple shading is sun hitting on the white petals of the flower.

Re-edit of a great close up I captured last summer. This sow has three cubs in tow, and she wasn't sure of what to make of me, so she inched her way in until satisfied she did....
This wild strawberry is not tasty, I tried them as a child!! LOL They are pretty and the birds and small animals love them.
Wild rhododendrons cover the hillsides along Kelly's Run. Those in the wild bloom in early July, which is about a month later than those we see planted around our local neighborhoods. Although we'd hiked the trail several times before, we had never been there when the rhododendrons were blooming, so it was a treat to catch them at just the right time.
Probably Carolina Rose but not sure. There used to be many more of these in the Holland Sand Prairie but the dreaded rose chafer beetles have made them pretty uncommon. It was nice to find some untouched. Hope they survive!
Put some cake crumbs out for the sparrows. Along came ratty, looked, sniffed and wandered on by. Was he trying to tell me something?
It was really nice to be able to get this close to the herd, and this was the first light of the day.
