Flicker x 100 2017. Theme :Bob Dylan Songs

vimeo.com/75113136

When I Paint My Masterpiece can be found on Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II (1971) but a slightly different version was first released by The Band earlier that year. An out take also appears on a bootleg released in 2013.

Many people believe this song is Dylan being ironic and making fun of himself. The main theme being "someday" and the role that plays in all of our lives-yeah sometime I'm going to paint my masterpiece (take that perfect photo!) and everything's going to be cool.

"I left Rome and landed in Brussels

On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried

Clergymen in uniform and young girls pullin’ muscles

Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside

Newspapermen eating candy

Had to be held down by big police

Someday, everything is gonna be diff’rent

When I paint my masterpiece"

This image show's a painting I did of Dylan back in 1985. Remember, this is someone who had a budgie called Isis and a turtle called Zimmy (Robert Zimmerman is Bob's real name for those that don't know)- I was just alittle obsessed.

Clearly it isn't a masterpiece and it isn't hanging in any gallery.

Thanks Andrew for the PhotoFunia site that allowed me to create this image using my painting!

We had a rainy weekend, but Bunny felt that it was a good time to catch up on snuggle time.

Rebecca is one of Irelands best female surfers. No training and second in the Nationals, impressive.

This location used to be a bowling green then was turned into a wedding centre with beautiful manicured lawns and lawn ornaments but has been abandoned now for quite some time and I have been admiring it and wanting to use it as a location and I finally did.

When I showed someone this they thought it had a dreamy quality and asked if I was in the mountains. The small rock on the right was part of the landscape of the Delaware shore line and this beautiful Spotted Sandpiper looked out to the ocean as the sun was rising.

When I captured MKT 198 with Union Pacific units departing Parsons Kansas in the summer of 1979, in my wildest dreams I could not imagine it was a prediction of the nightmare to come!

Perfect! I was just overwhelmed when I saw this beauty! My absolute favourite Aston Martin! No AM beats the DBS Carbon Black :)

I hope you like the shot.

In Cloud County Kansas, you better have a nickel or five pennies with you.

A situation many Ukraine citizens have faced today following the Russian invasion this morning.

There are going to be situations where "your flexible friend" the credit card or electronic payment are just not that useful. If the banks are closed, the internet is off and cell phone towers have been destroyed - then cash is handy - but if things get truly desperate then gold is probably the best option.

All it takes is for the electricity to be off and all of our modern payment methods are useless.

Lost when Flickr ate 124 of my 148 photos last year...they found them after three days and a team of 6 searching...but all the text...the journaling was gone...

All I have left is the images, but for this one I was thinking of a special friend who I love very much. For this one "Little Girl", I remembered the song that was in my head for you...it speaks enough for me through it's lyrics and they are as true now as they were in fall of 2022. If I told you.....oh how I want to tell you...the saddest part is you will never see this post...or know how I feel...I hope you are ok wherever you are...

I love you Little One....

"It's a full moon, L.A

And we're alone for the first time

On Venice beach under the palm trees

Tell me your dreams and I'll tell you mine

What would you say if I told you

You're my last thought at the end of each night?

Would you believe me

Or would you even reply?

Would you?

Would you?

Would you?

Would you?

I am a loner, I am stubborn

Can you handle this world I live in?

I know I can't change, but for you I'd compromise

I'd be on your side if you'd be on mine

Yes, you're anxious and you're stubborn too

But I'd learn to love the worst parts of you

Could be the full moon or this cheap wine

But I'm hoping you'll reply

Would you?

Would you?

Would you?

Would you?

Is it in the stars or some age old truth?

Why did the universe draw me to you?

You're so magnetic, I am hypnotized

Feels like I've known you since before this life

I hope I always see you this way

Here's to wondering if you feel the same

But I can tell when your eyes meet mine

That the truth isn't your reply

You do

You do

You do

You do"

When our niece and her hubby visited us with their boat for a few days, we were so fortunate to have a beautiful clear day, free of smoke from all the forest fires burning in B.C. at the time. This is a panoramic view nearing the end of Shuswap Lake's Seymour Arm. (17-09-16-8258-59)

with over 30 years at FedEx under my belt been thinking about what I'm going to do with myself once I retire at the 40 year mark...thinking that building a rod like this would keep me busy for a while...

The snow melted, tree limb tips turned first red with buds and then green with tiny leaves. Birds came back from Winter vacation. Bees are again busy. Flowers keep popping. And, the whites, grays and browns of Winter became green, yellow, pink and blue. Spring arrived. :)

I have to admit that the computer has been fixed for quite some time but am pressed for content when it comes to posting photos. I’ll get back to this Brown Pelican cruising near the shore of Armand Bayou a bit later on.

The computer…what about the computer. As it turns the high-priced security suite that I had did very little to protect me and it was my youngest grandson that came to the rescue. He’s just beginning his computer career and liberated my machine from the more that 2,000 infected files that were woven into the mess. I am back online but using a different firewall and have installed a personal VPN as well. I am hoping that I can keep the scum of the internet out of my system and I hope that there are no back doors remaining in the machine. Only time will tell.

Also want to add that there are some other things that are keeping me distracted as well. I’ll try to work around them.

When we were kids, traveling across the plains of Kansas in the days before the Interstate was finished, we passed through many a small town where Dad pointed out an interesting fact. The town Undertaker always had the biggest house in town because, eventually, he got everyone’s business.

Now imagine you are the Undertaker running Forrest Lawn Cemetery in the LA area.

Doctor Hubert Eaton, the guy who ran the place in 1938 had some spare change lying around when he ordered a custom, streamlined REO tractor to pull a Curtiss Aerocar trailer. For the first quarter of a million miles, it was powered by a White Flat-12 bus engine. In 1953 it got a Cummins diesel. The trailer had a small four cylinder to power a generator for electrical needs. There was space to sleep 6 people, a kitchen, bath and communication with the driver. His quarters and that of a butler/cook were in the cab of the REO.

The Aerocar was a product of aviation pioneer, Glenn Curtiss. You know, that other bicycle guy who, like the Wright Brothers started tinkering with airplanes. Curtiss and the Wrights would start as rivals but join forces to become Curtiss-Wright later on.

He started building luxury travel trailers in 1929 and continued until 1942. The camper is currently on display at The Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, California. It is on loan from LA’s Petersen Museum.

When Conrail was formed the D&H was given trackage rights into Philadelphia and Washington, DC via Harrisburg. This trackage rights train was waiting to move from the former PRR Buffalo line to the Pittsburgh line at Rockville Tower.

I believe the combination of wave and surfer can show action very well.

When I shot 35mm slides decades ago I would never throw out any slides, no matter how bad they were. Instead I would bundle all of the rejects together and set them aside. Tonight I was going through boxes of old slides, including bunches of rejects, when I came upon this one. This was a shot I took of my dad reading the newspaper in 1975. For some reason 42 years after taking the shot, and almost 19 years after his passing, this shot no longer seems like a reject.
