“When photographing women, we have three paths: photograph them with the "male gaze” ; photograph them as "photographer eyes” and photograph them as "poet feeling”. I always try to be the three ...” by Old Roger
When newly emerged, the Ringlet has a velvety appearance and is almost black, with a white fringe to the wings. The small circles on the underwings, which give the butterfly its name, vary in number and size and maybe enlarged and elongated or reduced to small white spots; occasionally they lack the black ring. They are a dark brown butterfly and similar to male Meadow Brown
Bramble and Wild Privet flowers are favourite nectar sources, and adults continue to fly with a characteristic bobbing flight in dull, cloudy conditions when most other butterflies are inactive.
This widespread butterfly has extended its range in England and Scotland in recent years. Widespread on damp grassland throughout Britain and Ireland.

Vatnajökull National Park, Iceland
Ice caves come in all shapes and sizes. Many occur in and around glaciers, when meltwater carves out tunnels underneath the ice. The results are incredible – and often dangerous – structures, which stun the senses with their ephemeral beauty. The Vatnajökull National Park on the south coast of Iceland has many subglacial ice caves, the majority of which are cramped and over-touristed. However, if conditions are just right, it is possible to visit a different type of ice cave. When the glacial lakes freeze, giant icebergs become trapped and the wind hollows out labyrinthine mazes of blue ice. Access requires a specialist ice guide and should not be attempted without one, but walking alone through the nostril of a sleeping ice giant is a unique and special experience. With local heroes @thor_photography and Ásmundur Ásmundsson (ice guide / model).

I took the photo at a cemetery in my home village. In the background I captured the silhouette of my great-grand parents' tomb.
when I was a child I asked my mum to teach me how to knit. Then I quickly forgot. A few years ago I used the internet to teach myself once more.
When, in disgrace with fortune and men’s eyes, I all alone beweep my outcast state And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries And look upon myself and curse my fate, Wishing me like to one more rich in hope, Featured like him, like him with friends possess’d, Desiring this man’s art and that man’s scope, With what I most enjoy contented least; Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising, Haply I think on thee, and then my state, Like to the lark at break of day arising From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven’s gate; For thy sweet love remember’d such wealth brings That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

My grandaughter Delaney and my son-in-law. I love these two...they have such a special bond. Reminds me of how my hubby was when our girls were little.(not that their bond isn't still strong as father/daughter) The song I'm posting is Gary Allen..Tough little boys. The song is wonderful, and the video is so moving, Esp. if you have a loved one in the military. Even if you watch it without the sound...it will warm your heart.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder? Why Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.
It's Not Easy Being Green Lyrics

This Small White came to rest on the least expected support : an old rattan chair under the veranda !
...my mother had this green dish containing bits of jewellery, including a necklace of crystal beads, on her dressing table. Her brush, comb and mirror matched the dish and sat on mats that she called a cheval set. My favourite item though, was a crystal perfume bottle. I can still bring the scent of it to mind.
I used to sit and admire myself in the three way mirrors, adjusting them so that many reflections of myself were revealed. A bit narcisisstic but I've grown out of that!

Like the whole world around her, she embrassed the american culture as her own. Her favorite dish is a cheeseburger with bacon. Her favorite singer is James Brown, Steve Wonder being a close second. She even liked the movie Independance Day, or at least the beginning. But still, one week after, she still can't believe Trump was elected president.
The George Formby song springs to mind!
“Now I go cleanin' windows to earn an honest bob
For a nosy parker it's an interestin' job
Now it's a job that just suits me
A window cleaner you would be
If you can see what I can see
When I'm cleanin' windows”
When Edwin Lascelles started building Harewood House in 1759 he wanted nothing but the best for his new home. He employed the finest craftsmen of the time: York-born architect John Carr, fashionable interior designer Robert Adam, England’s greatest furniture maker Thomas Chippendale and visionary landscape gardener Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
