When the tide comes in it floods the marine lake the excess is drained off via weirs when the tide goes out. This keeps the water clear and fresh.
When the greenie landed on this dead tree I wasn't happy about what was in the background (a large white building in an industrial complex across the road from Wildwood Park). But when I cropped the image I was rather pleased with how it turned out. It reminds me of a formal portrait. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

I have waited and waited. It had rained for months. Every day when I looked out of the window, it was overcast. At times, it rained like cat and dog. At times, it drizzled but it never stopped.
Today when i got up, I couldn't believe my eyes. This day finally arrived - the sunny day. I missed it.
When Stagecoach decided that Nuneaton would become a low-floor bus garage it signalled the end of the best bus we had for years. Although the odd one lingered for training purposes their days were numbered. When the low floors arrived the B10 fleet was pushed to the rear of the garage. It gave me the opportunity to take this photo, a tribute to a great vehicle.
When I get 5 mins to sit down and read in the day, I like to sit in the window seat. If the sun is shining i usually have company
I read lots of things - I am especially fond of well written crime fiction. I am currently reading my way through the Michael Connelly collection in date order (this is Void Moon) and on Kindle - the Graham Hurley collection
this was an easy fun shot (152/215)
When dad calls to tell you that you're missing the premiere of a Dateline special that you're the subject of.
Last year when visiting with my daughter and her husband out in Nevada, Tom & I took the day to explore to see what we could find. I had heard of a band of wild horses in the area, so we thought why not try ... and lo and behold, we found them. The ones that we found were roaming the hillside, probably about a dozen of them. It was not my first encounter with wild horses ... but one that ignited my passion for them collectively.
I found something special in seeing the young following along with the older ones. They just seemed so innocent and loving, as they learned the way of the wild.
Happy Hump Day everyone! Thanks for stopping by.

When traveling between Strasbourg and Karlsruhe, the route via Lauterbourg takes 10 minutes longer than the route via Offenburg. However I still prefer it for the sole reason that both the Regioshuttle between Strasbourg and Offenburg and the RE2 from Offenburg to Karlsruhe are always overcrowded.
Serafina's first birthday party. My camera battery died, so to the phone we go. Then trying to get everyone to look when everyone is snapping pictures, we'll this is what you get...
"Oh the time will come up.
When the winds will stop.
And the breeze will cease to be a 'breathin'.
Like the stillness in the wind.
Before the hurricane begins.
The hour when the ship comes in ..."

Dunstanburgh Castle Sunrise. Bumped into two lads Alan Short and Lawrence Macdonald on the slippery rocks. It was great fun taking photos and trying to stay dry. Alan and Lawrence were soaked of the waves,I managed to stay dry standing on the biggest rock I could find :) Thanks lads it was a great laugh.

When I got to school with my sister and dad, my sister spotted a red tailed hawk finishing eating something by the a pond. I walked over and took a quick photo with my dad's camera before the bell rang!
When I took this yesterday I was surprised at how straight the 1/2 moon line was....and no hint of the other 1/2 of which typically you will see a faint image.
When I was a child...
This is my grandfather's workman's weekly ticket for the last week of operation of the Mumbles Railway.
I have fond but dim memories of traveling on the Mumbles Train when I was 5 or 6 years old. It was closed & replaced with a bus service in 1961, an utter tragedy .

"...
But when I get to Paris
We'll paint all our portraits
In brush-strokes of yellow
And christen the canvas
The left bank is crying
For colour to crown it
Like the roof of a palace
We'll drink in the amber
When I get to Paris..."

I’m not sure that I’m a 100% happy with this work but then what do I know?. Sometimes the ones that I’m not so sure about are more popular than those that I prefer so I’ll post it anyway. Just a work of a family enjoying the sea.
Trying to do the group shot of 9 kittens was slightly chaotic. They all had there own idea of what to do. The nearest kitten was obviously interested in the cat toy. Quite what the other one is looking at is unclear. May be it was just enjoying the warmth of the studio light.
Fix You
When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse
When the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
If you never try, then you'll never know
Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...
Tears stream down your face
I promise you that I'll learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I...
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

When I first glimpsed it I thought this Astra looked quite tidy, but it appears to have sat for several years and its last MoT expired in early 2019.
Back when SD80MACs could still be found in their Conrail blue paint, albeit with an NS patch, the Cresson engine terminal was a good place to find them. It seems to attract oddballs, as PRR kept a lot of Fairbanks-Morse units here back in the '60s, not that I was there to see it.
Anyhow, late in the afternoon during the longer days of the year, the sun swings over to the north side of the tracks, allowing photos from the "back" side of the terminal. I've always preferred those late afternoon angles at Cresson.
This is the oldest picture i could find of myself. It's from 2002, and i was still little more than a boy in a dress. Now it's 2019 and I'm close to 40, and still a boy in a dress. But a much more beautiful one :)
It's my birthday to day so.... Happy birthday to me :D
