In the land of the pale blue snow,
where it's ninety-nine below,
and the polar bears are roaming o'er the plain,
In the shadow of the Pole
I will clasp her to my soul,
We'll be happy when the ice worms nest again.

When our Minnesota skies will soon drop copious amounts of white manna that will obliterate most colors in nature, it is with some desperation that I seek the last shots of color.
Not sure if this little barn will last another winter, but it looks like the tree decided to help protect it over the years...
Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.

When we went for our annual retreat last year, I didn't realize until we got to the Retreat House that I forgot to bring an extra battery or a battery charger with me. By the end of the first day, my battery was dead. I didn't have a choice but to use my phone!
Wishing you all a HAPPY, PEACEFUL and a BLESSED New Week!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for the kind comments and favs. They are very much appreciated!

Our apprroach to Kirkjufell mountain and its waterfalls occurred after a 420 miles day ride and at the perfect hour to witness the beginning of a beautiful sunset.

When we stayed near Dunbar in East Lothian one of our favourite places for lunch was the Old Smithy in Tyninghame, which is roughly half way between Dunbar and North Berwick. The original village of Tyninghame was a few hundred yards to the east, near Tyninghame House. But in 1761 the Earl of Haddington moved Tyninghame village from its original position to make way for landscaped parkland. The "new" village is now on the west side of the A198, just over a mile south of Whitekirk.
According to British Listed Buildings this delightful terrace of two-storey cottages in the main street dates from 1854 and is thought to have been designed by James Hannan. It is Category C-listed. One of the upstairs windows has been filled in and painted to appear normal. This was often done to avoid the Window Tax. However, this was repealed in 1851, so I'm not quite sure what has happened here. Perhaps the date given for the building is incorrect. There was also a Thomas Hannan who built a number of the buildings in Tyninghame in the first half of the 19th century.
When it is very cold, moisture inside our garage (brought in on our car, in the form of snow and slush) condenses and freezes on the glass panels of the garage door overnight, leaving these delicate patterns to be admired and photographed the next morning.
The garage might be a bit warmer than the outside temperature, but it still feels "cold as a meat locker," to use the local vernacular, and even very warmly dressed, I do not stay out there for long.
Thanks for visiting!

Lion Rock
Hong Kong
Lion Rock or Lion Rock Hill, is a famous hill in Hong Kong. It is located between Kowloon Tong in Kowloon and Tai Wai in the New Territories, and is 495-metre high.
Lion Rock is famous for its shape and is visible from various places in Kowloon; its resemblance to a crouching lion is most striking from the Choi Hung and San Po Kong areas in East Kowloon. A trail wends its way up the forested hillside to the top, culminating atop the lion's head. The rock provides a beautiful view of the city and Hong Kong Island in the distance. The entire hill is located within Lion Rock Country Park in Hung Mui Kuk, Tai Wai and is made passable by vehicles by Lion Rock Tunnel, which connects Kowloon Tong and Tai Wai.
When I took the landscape photos, they came into the scene. It maybe called that I was in the right place and they were at the right time.

Founded at a time when photography was only beginning to secure a foothold both in museum collections and in the art market at large, A Gallery for Fine Photography is a living landmark in the history of photography. Located in the Historic New Orleans French Quarter, A Gallery opened its doors in 1973, a world away from the cornerstones of the global contemporary art scene. Thanks to the staunchly independent vision of its founder, Joshua Mann Pailet, A Gallery has remained a haven for photography, from the earliest photographs to contemporary pieces. Over more than four decades in business, A Gallery for Fine Photography has established itself as one of the most respected photography galleries in America – one that has flourished despite an ever-changing art world by remaining true to itself and Pailet’s unique perspective.
Joshua Mann Pailet is a documentary photographer and gallerist who has been one of the most significant figures of the photography community in his native New Orleans for forty-five years.
