When you trek through the jungle of Khao Sok National Park, in Surat Thani, Thailand, you are often in semi-darkness amongst overhanging foliage. It's a welcome sight to see the occasional glimpse of blue sky lending a lightening to the trees.

When we lived in Connecticut during the 1960s, this was the sight we were treated to in our front yard every autumn. The original photo was poorly focused, so this is an attempt to save it with a bit of Topaz and PSE input.

The moment I saw you I knew my life would never be the same again. At the time, I didn't know what that actually meant.
It was only over time that I realized what a gift, what an enrichment you are for my life. That there is a person who means more to me than anything else. It still overwhelms me when I think back to your first hour in the world, which I was allowed to spend with you. Okay, most of the time you were yelling at me, but since then, at least that's how it feels to me, something special connects us.
And now look at you, 18 years later. This little baby whose feet were smaller than my thumb has grown into a beautiful young woman.
A young woman with personality, with rough edges, with a lot of empathy and humor. It fills me with great pride to see you like this today.
I am very happy to have you in my life and that I was able to accompany you on your way to here and that I can continue to do so.
For your further journey, which is called life, I wish you much success and happiness and all the best. At the same time, I wish you the strength and self-confidence to overcome setbacks and defeats. I am excited to see where your journey will take you and i will always be there for you if you need me.
In dem Moment, als ich Dich zum ersten Mal sah wusste ich, dass mein Leben nie wieder so sein wird wie es vorher war. Was das tatsächlich bedeutet, wusste ich zu diesem Zeitpunkt allerdings noch nicht.
Erst mit der Zeit begriff ich, welch ein Geschenk, welch eine Bereicherung du für mein Leben bist. Das da ein Mensch ist, der mir mehr bedeutet als alles andere. Noch immer überwältigt es mich, wenn ich an deine erste Stunde auf der Welt zurück denke, welche ich mit dir verbringen durfte. Ok, die meiste Zweit davon hast du mich angeschrien doch seit dem, so fühlt es sich für mich zumindest an, verbindet uns etwas Besonderes.
Und nun sieh Dich an, 18 Jahre später. Aus diesem kleinen Baby, deren Füße kleiner waren als mein Daumen, ist eine wunderschöne, junge Frau geworden.
Eine junge Frau mit Persönlichkeit, mit Ecken und Kanten, mit viel Empathie und Humor. Es erfüllt mich mit großem Stolz, dich heute so zu sehen.
Ich bin sehr glücklich, Dich in meinem Leben zu haben und darüber, dass ich Dich auf deinem Weg bis hier her begleiten durfte und dies auch weiterhin darf.
Für Deine weitere Reise, die sich das Leben nennt, wünsche ich Dir viel Erfolg und Glück und auch sonst alles erdenklich Gute. Gleichzeitig wünsche ich Dir auch die Kraft und das Selbstvertrauen Rückschläge und Niederlagen zu meistern. Our apprroach to Kirkjufell mountain and its waterfalls occurred after a 420 miles day ride and at the perfect hour to witness the beginning of a beautiful sunset.
When I first saw the duck I freely confess, "What have I found," only to figure out it was but a Green winged Teal glowing in the sunlight to produce this radiant color......
When the light begins to fade and the city starts to glow, everything on the street takes on a different flavour. The rush softens, colours stretch, footsteps smear into gentle echoes, and suddenly the everyday bustle feels almost theatrical. Slow the shutter and the scene reshapes itself: people become brushstrokes, headlights turn to ribbons, and the whole corner hums with a kind of dreamy urgency. It’s in that blur — that delicious in‑between — where the city shows you how alive it really is.

Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis. Colors are just starting to change in the area. The photography club met at the botantical gardens to see the color.
When sleep feels impossible, in the middle of the night….thankful to find beauty in the mundane, a way to cope, a reminder that you are growing even while you feel trapped in the darkness.
When you purchase new plants, the best thing which can happen to them is a good rain, as it helps them get established better than any artificial watering. /
Lorsque vous faites l'acquisition de nouvelles plantes, la meilleure chose qui puisse advenir est une bonne pluie car cela les aide a s'etablir mieux que n'importe quel arrosage.
Si je precise ce fait, fruit d'une vieille experience, c'est en repensant a un soi-disant "expert" en jardinage qui pretendait le contraire. Sans doute avait-il des connaissances livresques mais n'avait-il jamais observe les bienfaits de la pluie dans un jardin :)

This one is the work of Tara Donovan and is made out of hundreds of thousand of circles of Mylar which is a shiny, foil-like material, folded and glued together into these spherical "bouquets", which are then arranged into this final sculpture.

Lion Rock
Hong Kong
Lion Rock or Lion Rock Hill, is a famous hill in Hong Kong. It is located between Kowloon Tong in Kowloon and Tai Wai in the New Territories, and is 495-metre high.
Lion Rock is famous for its shape and is visible from various places in Kowloon; its resemblance to a crouching lion is most striking from the Choi Hung and San Po Kong areas in East Kowloon. A trail wends its way up the forested hillside to the top, culminating atop the lion's head. The rock provides a beautiful view of the city and Hong Kong Island in the distance. The entire hill is located within Lion Rock Country Park in Hung Mui Kuk, Tai Wai and is made passable by vehicles by Lion Rock Tunnel, which connects Kowloon Tong and Tai Wai.
