ENG: When you look up through the stairwell in the Detlev Rohwedder House, you almost stumble upon history. The massive complex on Wilhelmstraße has always been a seat of power: it was built in 1936 as the Reich Aviation Ministry for Hermann Göring. During the GDR era, the building was called the “House of Ministries,” where the 1953 popular uprising took its course. Later, the Treuhandanstalt moved in; its head, Detlev Rohwedder—who was assassinated in 1991 and after whom the building is named—was based here. Since 1999, the Federal Ministry of Finance has been headquartered here. Where financial policy is made today, monumental architecture meets decades of pivotal moments in German history. In other words, today’s “DRH” Federal Ministry of Finance. So it’s definitely worth looking up—both architecturally and historically.

GER: Wenn man von unten nach oben durch das Treppenauge im Detlev-Rohwedder-Haus schaut, stolpert man fast über die Geschichte. Der riesige Komplex in der Wilhelmstraße war schon immer ein Ort der Macht: 1936 wurde er als Reichsluftfahrtministerium für Hermann Göring hochgezogen. Zu DDR-Zeiten hieß das Gebäude „Haus der Ministerien“, in dem 1953 der Volksaufstand seinen Lauf nahm. Später zog die Treuhandanstalt hier ein, deren Chef Detlev Rohwedder 1991 ermordet wurde und dem das Haus seinen heutigen Namen verdankt. Seit 1999 hat das Bundesfinanzministerium hier seinen Sitz. Wo heute Finanzpolitik gemacht wird, treffen monumentale Architektur und Jahrzehnte voller deutscher Wendepunkte aufeinander. Also das heutige „DRH“ Bundesministerium der Finanzen. Ein Blick nach oben lohnt sich also – sowohl architektonisch als auch historisch.

Lion Rock
Hong Kong
Lion Rock or Lion Rock Hill, is a famous hill in Hong Kong. It is located between Kowloon Tong in Kowloon and Tai Wai in the New Territories, and is 495-metre high.
Lion Rock is famous for its shape and is visible from various places in Kowloon; its resemblance to a crouching lion is most striking from the Choi Hung and San Po Kong areas in East Kowloon. A trail wends its way up the forested hillside to the top, culminating atop the lion's head. The rock provides a beautiful view of the city and Hong Kong Island in the distance. The entire hill is located within Lion Rock Country Park in Hung Mui Kuk, Tai Wai and is made passable by vehicles by Lion Rock Tunnel, which connects Kowloon Tong and Tai Wai.

The SILLIEST question that I can ask is how many droplets of water are there!
When I saw this happening across the lake, I knew it would be necessary to get lower than my perch above. Getting there was very challenging but looked much better than on top of the higher rocks. Closer to the water gave a more intimate look and helped the foreground.
When we went for our annual retreat last year, I didn't realize until we got to the Retreat House that I forgot to bring an extra battery or a battery charger with me. By the end of the first day, my battery was dead. I didn't have a choice but to use my phone!

When I took this photo, it was to showcase the old beat up watering can. I didn't notice the neighbor's cat hiding in the shadows under the hydrangeas. Apparently, from the way i processed the photo, no one else could either. So I've lightened the brave kitty up a bit - hope you can find him. Brave because this Siamese is in dog territory... If you still can't find him, then he must be Cheshire - or maybe he's just looking at me...

A Parasitic Jaeger is seen in flight with two small fish in its bill — whether it obtained them itself or by theft from another bird is unknown. It was thrilling to watch the action as several of these members of the Skuas family took passes at various gulls and terns, and made twisting maneuvers when they located a potential ‘donor.’ The interactions took place off Cape Merry near the town of Churchill in the northern part of the Canadian province of Manitoba. [This species is called Arctic Skua in the Old World.]
When ever I was in the Bangor area I would always to swing by Northern Me Jct to see what might be around. BL-2 #50 was the only locomotive on the whiskers today .
When I first went out to find a photo for today, it was sunny but then it started getting cloudy again. I took several shots, but the reflection of the sky on the saturated country lane felt ethereal.
When walking through the dark sometimes it’s necessary to borrow hope from others around us.

You can spend hours and hours combining colours, forms and textures but sometimes Mother Nature just drops perfection at your feet.
I didn't even touch these, just played with some dreamy softening.
