a few days ago, southwest industrial gas had a little problem. for the lack of a better description, it blowed all the hell up. (see video here: splodetv.com/dallas-welding-company-blows ) clearly, these guys had their tanks color coded and set aside by color, but you cannot always rely on color to determine the gasses. my argon/carbon dioxide MIG mix (not explosive) has been in blue lately and i see alot of oxygen in green (lots of explosive). look for tanks ripped open by the force of the blasts, the scorch marks across lanes of the highway, the hole in the wall of building across, and all of the burned out cars to see how big this baby was. interestingly, this was about a 1/4 mile from the last big industrial fire we had. weeks ago. i am not going around here anymore. one of a larger set. collect them all!

Working on the new Business building. I whipped out the camera to take a picture of a guy sleeping on a high beam during his lunch break, but he woke up before I got it out.
Welding is cool too though.
Greg finishes welding the 2 new plates onto the V1's outer sub-frame. As with most "design changes" to all SRL machines, this one was motivated by the necessity to break-up the big-ass outrigger type component, into 2 more easily packable pieces.
This Android app was built for tablets. Welding instructors refer to the content when teaching at technical schools.

This is only the 2nd time I have used a TIG welder, and I manage results like this! Still a little shaky, but not bad! I didn't add any weld rod, just regular blending on both sides. This should be MORE than strong enough for my moped bike engine mount!
The handiwork in this one is a testament to the skill of the welder... and a testament to how long a person could have looked at remaining incarcerated here.

an off measure has the right side 3/16" shorter than the other- to compensate I had to pull that edge out further thus making the weld gap greater- finally, the top side 6"x7-3/4" plate is aligned for welding to complete the bird house housing.

Balluff's new Weldblocks are constructed with fiberglass reinforced composite (polypropylene sulfide) that inherently resists weld spatter while effectively combats grounding loops and electromagnetic interferences (EMI).
Weldblocks promote machine mount distributed modular architecture with IO-Link. The network node with IO-Link master on the Weldblock communicates over EtherNet/IP with the PLC or the controller of the machine, while the IO-Link ports can be connected to a variety of IO-Link enabled smart sensor devices or Balluff IO-Link I/O hubs.
