Several hundred feet of welded rail sits and waits on the UP tracks in Bloomington. I wondered how it would turn, so I waited and watched. The rails actually bend as the train goes through a turn. I guess the turns are gradual enough and the rails are flexible enough at this length. This was new to me.

View forward from beneath rear frame: with derailleur mounting bracket complete the whole thing had to be welded to the rear frame. To get height right I stacked up various things beneath to shim it to the correct height.
