Looking down from above: I had a square preset to the correct height and I had two bits of tape marking out the correct locations, fore and aft, for weld to happen.
Tacked in place. Next job is to take the wing off and weld it from the inside, together with the section that extends under the light

Greg finishes welding the 2 new plates onto the V1's outer sub-frame. As with most "design changes" to all SRL machines, this one was motivated by the necessity to break-up the big-ass outrigger type component, into 2 more easily packable pieces.

This is only the 2nd time I have used a TIG welder, and I manage results like this! Still a little shaky, but not bad! I didn't add any weld rod, just regular blending on both sides. This should be MORE than strong enough for my moped bike engine mount!
