This is my brother welding. I love the light and colours in this. I found that you can just about look at it via camera, although you can't look straight at the welding fire. Makes a nice bokeh too with all the sparks flying :)

March 12, 2015: Trying to figure out how to align stuff for a bit of welding. First up: attaching the ...well let's call them the 'overarms' to their mounting plates.
We're fired up about October, which marks the beginning of Manufacturing Month. To celebrate, we visited our welding bay, where students are studying and applying their skills at gas metal arc welding, also known as MIG welding.
JCC welding students built a stage for use by the Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation. The project was funded by the Cummins Foundation and Cummins Jamestown Engine Plant. July 2011.
Several hundred feet of welded rail sits and waits on the UP tracks in Bloomington. I wondered how it would turn, so I waited and watched. The rails actually bend as the train goes through a turn. I guess the turns are gradual enough and the rails are flexible enough at this length. This was new to me.
Area high school students competed in the inaugural Carl Sandburg College Welding Competition held May 18 in Building G at the Main Campus in Galesburg. Teams from Galesburg, ROWVA, United, Monmouth-Roseville and Galva competed in the event.
