I couldn't tell what alloy this was, I don't think it was conventional bronze, I wonder if it was aluminium-bronze.
these are the welding rods. the nuwelds and the Ferrocrafts were given to me by my dad, and i got the small packed of the satincrafts myself. I'll probably get a whole box of 2.5 satincrafts when I run out of the Nuwelds.
The satincrafts weld much better than the Nuwelds, but I'm getting ok at using the cheapo Nuwelds
I haven't put any of the 3.6mm Ferrocraft rods thru the new welder yet. I'll have to give it a go to see how it handles being cranked up all the way.
Three pieces of wrought iron forge-welded together. Left the ends unwelded to see if this technique would work for making the dividers under discussion here www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/antique-machinery-history/d...
After about an hour of explanation of the tools, we had 30 minutes or so for our first hands-on experiments. Here's what my first MIG welding looked like.

Neal and I went out for a night on the town. Or I should say a night shooting the town. We set out just before sunset to shoot some long exposures using welding glass and then moved into the city after midnight to shoot the city lights and waterfront.
This shot was taken with a piece of 14 stop welding glass strapped to the end of my lens. Very long exposures are achieved with this kind of rigging. Although your image is green SOOC, you can adjust the white balance with software.
