This was a fun day of welding. I had to stand on a chair and seam weld the corners, Then Mitzi would rotate the work for me and I would do the other side. we could make some great progress then the welder would shut down from getting too hot. One draw back to having an air cooled torch.

Area high school students competed in the inaugural Carl Sandburg College Welding Competition held May 18 in Building G at the Main Campus in Galesburg. Teams from Galesburg, ROWVA, United, Monmouth-Roseville and Galva competed in the event.
I like the method here...he just closes his eyes when he makes contact. I had been wondering, but this photo showed me what was going on. Hmph, I can take this photo with my eyes closed! :)

I was excited to be invited to watch some friends work on welding together a go kart as a summer project. As soon as the contact tip touched and the sparks started flying I couldn't help but whip out the macro lens.
