Welding table with a similar history to the workbench. Both have been used to make oilburners and central heaters over a period of 20 years - 'till the production stopped in the mid 70's and my dad started the hardwarestore that he still runs.

Some of the welding we do requires "preheating". This is a burner preheating 1 1/4 Chrome material to 350 degrees F. The burner is sitting inside the channel of a what will be a shell and tube heat exchanger.

On Thursday morning, Glimmerglass employees had the opportunity to learn how to weld in a seminar led by instructor Clay Corey, who has come every summer for the last 15 years to share his knowledge with our staff and interns. For those who decided to participate there was a lot of information to cover, and those involved spent the first part of the morning learning general techniques and safe working habits, followed by some hands on practice in the scene shop!
