Area high school students competed in the inaugural Carl Sandburg College Welding Competition held May 18 in Building G at the Main Campus in Galesburg. Teams from Galesburg, ROWVA, United, Monmouth-Roseville and Galva competed in the event.
If you ever tried to weld galvanized metal you know what happens. It's like welding a super sparkler that emits toxic fumes, loads 'O smoke and spatters like cheap bacon. Be sure to maintain 100% evacuation of welding fumes. Here I am rethreading the nut from excess weld spatter.
