Week 23 - SEASONS
This week our theme is SEASONS (Summer, Spring, Fall Winter). The focus is on the Outdoors using Natural Light.
Rainy Saturday
Roughly 20% done with 52 weeks already! Unbelievable. This one comes in just under the wire.
Crazy hectic week with lots of overtime at work coupled with Heather's birthday plans made it tough to find time for self-portraiting. So, a rainy Saturday portrait it is, despite the weather-induced headache.
Incidentally, it's probably hard to see them, but these incredibly awesome pants were inherited from my Grandpa. I still need to hem them but they rule.
Now I'm going to take a nap.
Baby is 6.8 lbs and 19 1/2 inches long.
Going to the hospital on Sunday to get the labor going can't wait to FINALLY meet him :)

Graveyards are a mine of pnotography opportunities especially for black and white shots so thinking of the Easter theme and obviously the crucifixion this immediately popped into my head.
This gravestone with celtic design stood out and with the background of the other gravestones and the young trees against a cloudless sky it just seemed to suit the infrared.
Shot on a Panasonic G3 converted for infrared photography, processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex.
- August 28th, 2038 -
It’s been two weeks since I was thrown into all this. I'm not sure whether it’s good or bad to say that I'm starting to get used to things out here. Me and Cristy have developed a regular schedule of going out on our wanderings for two days, setting up out in the wastelands for a night, and then heading back to the shelter. We drop off our gear, sleep in the comfort of our bunks, de-stress for a while, and then restock our gear and head back out.
Cristy’s done some more of her hobby work with our times at the shelter. She’s continued her drawing and last week she’d found some more patches that she’d added to her collection. Still have to admit it’s cute as hell. She’s also improved with her vocalization, if you could call it that; she’s getting a lot more comfortable around me and, for lack of a better word, playful. But she still knows when to keep a hold of herself when we’re out wandering.
We've also had a few more run in’s with rangers during our times out. We've been trying to practice pacifism whenever possible, but a couple of times we've had no choice but to drop the bullet on some of them. It’s just more gear though, and it’s not like these guys were doing anything good out here anyways…
Still, so far I'm actually impressed with myself that I've come this far. I can’t say I'm too optimistic, but I have faith that the two of us can keep each other going for now.
This is the leftover oil from me frying potatoes. Great comfort food.

When I went for a walk that day, I recognized this old VW Käfer. Actually I have seen it many times before, but it never grabbed my attention. However, today it did.
And finally spring is about to come :-)

We had a little visitor this past week. My son, his wife and their 21 month old son stayed with us. They live in Washington, DC and their daycare closes for a week in the summer. We all took vacation days and had a lovely visit.
Della hasn't ever spent much time around a kid that age. Kids that age run, walk and move very differently than big kids. She was so good with my grandson. He was very interested in Della but a little apprehensive at first. I did get a few photos of them together but it was this one I liked best.
Rafa is just learning to talk and he was saying Della by the time they left. He would constantly point to her, say her name and then wave at her. It was the only thing I could understand. My daughter in law is from Brazil and they speak Portuguese to him. His daycare is Spanish speaking and we speak English to him. He seems to understand each language but the words he is using at this point are Portuguese.
I thought his little hand coming out and pointing at Della was a good representation of their visit.

I've been stuck on this one for weeks for some reason. Today I decided to go with my first shot, that I took 2 weeks ago, and just move on! My amazing Jersey girl here, who just turned 11. :)
My submission for week 34 Teleidoscope: Elements. It is a day late because I, frankly, just couldn't think of anything original to create for it.

After taking all these shots I realized that had I forgotten to put that purple thingy back on Devastator's chest ( it fell off in transit ) - oh well!
Maybe Godziila ripped it off?

Week 2
This week's prompt was "rule of thirds." I use this compositional rule often but I also like to break the rule when it works for the image. I took an image I liked better than this yesterday, but it didn't follow the rule of thirds so I chose this one instead.
The roads in this area were a bit worse than I had anticipated so getting around this area proved to be "interesting" early in the morning.

I have a better picture in color that I had planned to upload, but for some reason it's not uploading. This one will, just not the other one. So we'll get that one up later :)
But here I am at 32 weeks. I think just saying that out loud kind of freaked me out cause she will be here SO SOON. Holy crap!
Life has been so busy the past few weeks. I have taken finals and been finishing up school (my last final was this past Tuesday, thank goodness I passed - cause I am GRADUATING this Friday!!!); we also moved to another city; and now we are preparing for a little girl to come. Lots and lots :) So those are the many reasons why I haven't been on flickr recently. Minus the gigantic turtle... That and the internet here is dicey. I am actually surprised that I got this picture up! We'll work on the other one later :)
