When I saw this dog beer, I immediately decided I wanted it as a prop for one of my 52 Weeks for Dogs photos of Fudge. But I wasn't going to pay 3 Euro in case he wouldn't drink it and as it's not for human consumption, I couldn't drink it. So I waited patiently until the price dropped and snapped up a bottle the other day.

as most of you 52 weekers already know, morley is struggling with a brain tumor. the phenobarbital has lessened some of the seizure activity, and the prednisone has taken some of the inflammation off the brain so that his functioning is a little better than it was. of course, we're still dealing with the side-effects of the pred and phenobarb, but i think they're getting better.

however, because of morley's incredible independence, there is nothing we can do to make him wag and enjoy life as much as he used to.

so ...because there is nothing on this good earth that morley loves more than another friendly dog, i found morley his own dog to help make his waning time on this earth a happy time.

of course, i hadn't realized just how badly abused and shellshocked this little terrier / former mill stud dog would be ... so now morley has a very important job ... to help merrick understand the world around him and how to be a real dog.

i only hope morley's around long enough to get the job done. i'm going to have to have a talk with the mister ...

This week we've been on tour! Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Michael's. Such fun! Getting to kiss all kinds of wonderful people! Great lighting, fantastic backgrounds. Oh if only I'd brought my camera! Duh...

Next week I will try really really hard for a wonderful shot.

This is a blind prickly pear cactus because it lacks obvious spines, but if you touched one of those "spots" you would have many small spines stuck in your hand.... almost impossible to get out!

September 16, 2012

It's a beautiful sunny September day at the Newport International Boat Show.

I've been back to Rodeo Beach a few times now, and every time it's different. The height of the tide, the position of the sun or the weather transforms it and the jagged rocks just into the ocean make it worth the trip. I don't think this is the best photo I've taken here, but it was the most fun. There were a bunch of other photographers there making the most of the conditions, each adjusting tripods and filter combinations, so it was good to chat and see how each of us got different results. I thought I had a good spot, but when the sun nestled between two rocks and flared out everything came together.

week 3/52

the perils of forgetting your camera...forgive the phone pictures, i'll have something better for next week :)

Here is an attempt at capturing the waves spirit moving the camera horizontally while taking the picture. Not that this group needs it, but Discussions contains ideas and examples.

Thanks to Brenda for taking over for me with the last challenge; Interesting and educative as she always has been.

Limpsfield Out and About

This is Agla Harðardóttir, she is 19 and lives in Akranes. I am working on a new series that is pretty much the opposite of "Dirty pretty things" where I take high contrast beauty headshots outdoors using only natural lighting where the people I photograph will have elf ears and wear makeup to make them more elflike, sort of a photo in my people set called "Mystical Gaze". Agla was the first in the series but after taking that photo we set out to Rauðhólar where I took this photo of her.

Like the last two weeks before it I only used ambient lighting for this, shot it almost directly against the sun. I am just exploring new kinds of lighting photos and am having a blast, again I know this might not be most people´s cup of tea but I really like this photo so I don´t really care what other people think.

Week 34 1-8 September

More catching up posts. Here's one from the Melbourne Museum. Spent a day with the 2 munchkins at the museum and got to see lots of interesting stuff, like this lion on the prowl. More soon.

32 weeks preggers. Taken a couple weeks ago (before the sickies set in) ... I'm 34 weeks now. :)

I do *not* do well on the other side of the lens ... totally awkward subject. You'd think I'd know what to do and be able to act natural, but nope - I totally freeze up. LOL! I much prefer to hide behind the camera. :)

Week 7: I love this shot of Kelsy as she checks out her new baby brother.

My parents have a red cut glass serving bowl. This is what it looks like when the sun shines through it.
