Game Information
Every Day's a New Day
It's time to start your new life as the mayor of a town that is always changing. Animal Crossing™: New Leaf is the first game in the charming Animal Crossing series for the Nintendo 3DS™ system, and expands on the customized game play the series is known for. Take charge of your town as mayor and watch your personalized world grow as you design your character's life and the life of the town around you.
FEATURES:
• In a first for the series, you can become mayor and perform tasks that will directly affect your town. Set town ordinances, like whether shops open later or earlier than usual, and also select public works projects to build around town, including bridges, benches, clocks and new facilities such as the café.
• Once you get accustomed to your new life in the game after moving in, the previous mayor, Tortimer, will come visit you in the town to tell you about the tropical island he now lives on. It's the perfect location to search for unique items and play mini-games. You and up to three others can also participate in a wide variety of fun tours (mini-games). In a series first, you can even rent a wetsuit and dive into the ocean to catch underwater creatures or just leisurely swim around for some virtual exercise.
• Customization overload! The remarkably deep customization that fans love is back in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but this time there are more customizable options than ever before, so you can personalize your town into your own happy place. In addition to personalizing your character's clothes and house, you can even change the specific look of furniture and create patterns to be used on clothes, wallpaper or carpets.
• Visit returning and new Animal Crossing characters as well as a variety of different stores and facilities, including shoe shop Kicks, Club LOL and the Shampoodle hair salon. You can even create custom designs at the Able Sisters' Tailor that can be turned into QR Code® patterns to be shared with others. All these shops will be located on Main Street, which will evolve and fill up with shops the more you play.
• Play locally with other Animal Crossing: New Leaf players who also own a copy of the game; share Friend Codes to travel to other players' towns and compete in mini-games via a wireless broadband Internet connection; or tag players using the StreetPass™ feature to add their personalized house to your Happy Home Showcase.
• Collect bells, insects, fish, fossils and fruit from all over town, at the tropical island or even underwater. All collectibles, except for fruit and bells, can be donated to the town museum so visitors to your town can admire your collections – or you can exchange them for more bells at the alpaca-run recycle shop Re-tail.
• Animal Crossing: New Leaf is played in real time. Even when the power is off on your Nintendo 3DS system, the town is constantly evolving and changing. Certain items can only be found at a certain time of day, and certain events can only be experienced during special in-game holidays on the calendar. New animals will even move in, even when you're away from the game. People who purchase the game from the Nintendo eShop can keep it on their systems at all times, and watch things change every day without the need to carry around a Game Card. There's something new to do every day in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. No two days are ever the same.
Adding this photo just so that I can add it beneath my original image of the Evening Grosbeak on Flickr. We don't see this species very often at all, but once a year, when a few of us do the May Species Count outside the city, one of the acreages we call in at usually has one or two of these birds. Costco contacted one of the local birding websites and had asked if anyone had a photo of an Evening Grosbeak to use in their next magazine. The person who was contacted got in touch with me, as he had seen my photos of this bird on Flickr. Anyway, thanks so much, Bob, for kindly e-mailing me! I took the photo above from Costco's website, as I don't have a membership there and so don't receive their magazine.
Special Thanks to my Friend & brother : Majed AL-Sultan

Valencia March 2009 L'Ofrenda floral. This is what is known as the "Ofrenda de Flores a la Virgen de los Desamparados", a floral offering to the Kingdom of Valencia's patron saint, Our Lady of the Forsaken. All the Fallas Committees take part in this event, decked out in their finest, to present their bouquets of flowers to the enormous image of the Virgin which stands in the centre of the plaza named after her, overlooked by her Basilica.
This occurs all day on their days of March 17th and March 18th. The virgin's body is then constructed with these flowers. The Falles (in Valencian) are a Valencian traditional celebration in praise of Saint Joseph in Valencia, Spain. The term Falles refers to both the celebration and the monuments created during the celebration.
Each neighbourhood of the city has an organized group of people, the Casal faller, that works all year long holding fundraising parties and dinners, usually featuring the famous speciality paella. Each casal faller produces a construction known as a falla which is eventually burnt. A casal faller is also known as a comissió fallera.
The name of the festival is thus the plural of falla. The word's derivation is as follows:
falla ← Vulgar Latin *facla ← Latin facula (diminutive) ← Latin fax, "torch". There are a few different theories regarding the origin of the Falles festival. One theory suggests that the Falles started in the Middle Ages, when artisans put out their broken artifacts and pieces of wood that they sorted during the winter then burnt them to celebrate the spring equinox. Valencian carpenters used planks of wood to hang their candles on. These planks were known as parots. During the winter, these were needed to provide light for the carpenters to work by. With the coming of the Spring, they were no longer necessary, so they were burned. With time, and the intervention of the Church, the date of the burning of these parots was made to coincide with the celebration of the festival of Saint Joseph, the patron saint of the carpenters.
This tradition continued to change. The parot was given clothing so that it looked like a person. Features identifiable with some well-known person from the neighborhood were added as well. To collect these materials, children went from house to house asking for Una estoreta velleta (An old rug) to add to the parot. This became a popular song that the children sang to gather all sorts of old flammable furniture and utensils to burn in the bonfire with the parot. These parots were the first ninots. With time, people of the neighborhoods organized the process of the creation of the Falles and monuments including various figures were born.
Until the beginning of the twentieth century, the Falles were tall boxes with three or four wax dolls dressed in cloth clothing. This changed when the creators began to use cardboard. The creation of the Falle continues to evolve in modern day, when largest monuments are made of polyurethane and soft cork easily molded with hot saws. These techniques have allowed Falles to be created in excess of 30 meters.
