Waves bouncing off Whitehaven's west pier collide with those returning from the shore and those still rolling in to produce a wild splash dance.
The waves were cresting pretty far out and rolling in so violently that there was a lot of sea foam from it. A lot of dead minnows along the high tide line too, battered by the storm.

The best find at the moth light last night was this Waved Sphinx moth, the first one I've seen this year. Luckily he was a lot more cooperative than some of the other sphinxes I've had lately (he perched pretty quickly after arriving, instead of buzzing all over the place for ages).
The Great Blending
William Stafford
For intervals, then, throughout our lives
we savor a concurrence, the great blending
of our chance selves with what sustains
all chance. We ride the wave and are
the wave. And with renewed belief
inner and outer we find our talk
turned to prayer, our prayer into truth:
for an interval, early, we become at home in the world.

The Wave Organ is an acoustic sculpture on the shore of San Francisco Bay. Through a series of pipes, the wave organ interacts with the waves of the bay and conveys their sound to listeners at several different stations. The effects produced vary depending on the level of the tide but include rumbles, gurgles, sloshes, hisses, and other more typical wave sounds. I couldn't really hear anything, unfortunately.
