A typhoon off southern Japan was sending huge waves toward the east of Taiwan. Many of them were riding up and crashing across the coastal road.

This gull was sitting and watching the waves break around him. He was quite confident the waves could not touch him, and never took off.

 

This was taken in the Deception Pass State Park (Washington State).

It seemed like something was under the water helping to create these waves but it was probably the water bouncing off the breaker wall here at the west end of Summerland Beach.
