Testing out Tamron 150-600mm VC rented from LensRentals.com - what a wonderful lens! At under $1100 it's a great buy, but only cost me $60 to play with it for a few days. Amazing value! From 150-450 it's RAZOR sharp... after that it gets a hair soft, but not bad. Also, longer you zoom out the higher shutter speed you'll need. Almost all these were shot at 1600/sec @ f/8 ISO 400 (see individual photo for specific metadata).
