Ralf cooked Spaghetti Gremolata for our lovely running group in Katjas house. We enjoyed it very much (Ralf cooks like a master chef) and drank lots of wine. I took my (unused) napkin with me. Isn't it cute? Thank you, Katja and Ralf!

Inspired by Kristin's Summer of Color 2013 Challenge: Orange & Hot Pink! I am officially on summer vacation as of last night, so a trip to a favorite city is on my to-do list soon!! Spray inks, collage, stamping, fabric, in my art journal. aaaah ~kathy
I know that I really have enough pens. But I had to buy those very old Polycolors by Koh-I-Noor. The package alone affected my purchase decision. ;-)
Mit der Laufgruppe auf der Kieler Woche. Nervig, die Gläser wieder loszuwerden. Man konnte sie nur dort abgeben, wo man auch das Getränk gekauft hatte. Aber wenn man weiß, wie es geht... ;-)
Lots of photos so I basically worked around them- it's my favorite season, so I sort of wanted to capture all the details.
I did this journal page last night, on Gratitude. I felt I was needing to do a page on gratitude, and with Thanksgiving the day before, it seemed appropriate.
This has a lot of things going on. I used gesso, acrylic paint, 2 packing tape transfers, a stencil (in the background, by The Crafter's Workshop), hand-carved & handmade stamps, collaged ephemera, polaroid pogo print emulsion transfers, glaze pens, latte sweet pens, copic markers, sharpie poster paint pens, watercolor crayons, rubber stamps, and crayons. I did the writing with a Uni-ball Double Sided Pocket Brush Pen, which I love. The main photo is of the mannequin on my front porch. Unfortunately, I didn't seal the pages before I closed the book, and the crayons transferred in places onto the mannequin's face. When I use something that might smear or transfer onto another page, I like to seal the spread with Krylon workable fixative.
This was the first time I tried to do emulsion lifts/transfers from pogo prints. It was easy enough to get the yellow & magenta layer to lift off in one piece, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the final blue layer to lift. I even tried soaking it overnight. It seemed very thin and fragile, and would only come off in tiny pieces. There's a great video tutorial here.. After the emulsion transfer of the cross was dry, I colored it with copic markers.
You can see detail shots of the transfers right after I applied the here and here

We cycled from Garmisch to Mittenwald. Very nice! Saturday we went to the Riessersee. It was warm enough to go swimming!
The latest page in my art journal. I blogged this page step by step here:
www.thekathrynwheel.blogspot.com as it went through many changes before the final version!
Believe me, I didn't want to buy anything, but while strolling up and down the streets I discoverde those boots and this jacket. What should I do?
This is my first time trying a journal flip video. The photo quality isn't the greatest with my new LG phone, but it didn't cost much either.
I've made several of these rebound journals in the past. I enjoy filling them. I studied my previous journals and tried to incorporate the things that I liked best.
It looks like the end of the video was cut off, but you get the idea.
That's going beyond a joke. I hate all kinds of garden pest. Here: greenhouse whitefly on my fuchsia. I killed them, sorry.
Can't tell you how annoyed I'm about all the dog's poop on side strips, footpaths and green areas. Don't understand me wrong. I like dogs very much. But everyday I can observe dog owners who are unaware that they have to accept responsibility for their dogs. That means: They have to educate their dogs and clean away the dog shit. I guess approx. 15% of the dog owners are able to control their dogs. ;-(
Aber was aßen normale Menschen? Warmes Essen? Kuchen? Was musste man dafür einkaufen? Zu viele Fragen für einen Einkauf, voll der Stress. Also erstmal das Standardprogramm einkaufen, den Rest konnte man ja später machen.
Here's a journal page I did last night. I have no idea where I got the page from the book titled "The Economic Background of the Sex Life of the Unmarried Adult." It was in my stash, and I HAD to use it--it was too brilliant to pass up. So I glued it under the photo of my eyes.
The card in the bottom left is by a student, Karla Frahler, who took one of my workshops last fall. I thought it was great, so included it too.
