This exhibit is divided by a wall into two halves. One half is a formal vegetable garden and Head Gardener's office from 1913, and the other half is an urban plot that has been turned into a garden to produce edible crops. The two halves of the display offer a complete contrast to show visitors, reflecting 100 years of change since the start of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

I was at the Distillery (in Toronto) on Sunday morning, and took pictures at a couple of great vegetable booths. Camera: Pre-war Contax II with uncoated f/2.0 50mm Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar lens. 200 asa color print film. The camera was bought by an uncle at the Port of Antwerp with remaining currency that had to be spent, as the clan fled the Hitler threat, on their way to Canada, leaving their prosperous farms in Czechoslovakia behind.

Not for anything in particular, just cleaned out the crisper after a week away and made a stock with the leftover bits and pieces.

The other day I ripped a recipe out of Glamour magazine (hahahaha I know) and decided to make it. I never cook, but I wanted to put a stop to that laziness. So on Friday I made the most wonderful vegetable dansak. I recommend this dish!!!

Almost ready to eat

This may look like a pot of boiling oil now, but eventually it'll just look like homemade vegetable soup.

With vegetables bought from Little Indian, we had this curry again. A young man at the shop made a remark while I was choosing the long beans, "Auntie, you only like the green ones ha?" Oh yes, somehow I prefer and will always choose long beans that are darker green in colour :) We also bought a few cups of yoghurt from this shop...wondering how else to use them besides cooking with tandoori and naans and making fruit drinks...

ESTABLISHED by Lt-Col. John By in 1826, the ByWard Market is one of Canada's oldest and largest public markets. The legendary builder of the Rideau Canal, Colonel By himself laid out the street plan of the Market, designating George Street and York Street to be extra wide to accommodate the creation of a public market and gathering place.

I haven't been doing much today apart from a bit of housework, which is why I've added this shot. I thought I'd have a go at shooting some veg preparation, after all for me, the point of this project is to give myself daily photography exercises that I wouldn't usually do.
